How can anyone be anonymous on the internet there's IP address and such if thats the case whats the point of IP addresses?

Anyway how does one change their Xbox Live password?

its called peerblock.

Then why don't they do something about Peerblock?

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

because they cant because your doopliss if you have it, meaning they dont know your IP or your name so you have infinite power!

Out of every time I've ever been to gamestop I've only seen one man eat a pair of pants.

Because people are too lazy these days to do something untill something really bad happens.

If indeed this is true, it sucks . Granted--take it from a veteran of the recent month-long PSN hiatus--aside from not being able to game online for a month, it really didn't affect me in the slightest. I assume it'll be similar for you guys--these publicized hacking attempts get too much heat for said hackers to move the usernames/passwords that they get on any sort of large scale without getting noticed.

and I just started a Spiral Knights account for no reason and played like 30 minutes before I realized it was complete trash. If I just lost info I'm not happy...

I'm just going to add this here! This sh*t is getting old!

LOL at Lulzsec offering their services at catching the criminals - as if they're whiter than white.

Also, LOL at Lulzsec finally getting a taste of their own medicine. One of the people involved is allegedly a HuffPost/Guardian contributer. That doesn't surprise me one bit.

What?!, they Attack Sega!
This is the last straw!
They need to be Stop!, or they will Hack everything!

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

@edhe - literally just got that from someone else. Forwarded it to everyone else immediately.

GG working-for-the-common-man hackers. They're like the hacker equivalent of tank destroyers. If hackers have to exist (and, given human nature, they do), I'd rather they be Web Ninjas or Jester.

It was funny the first time, and the second time...

Actually, it's not funny at all... :/

At least it shows that "C'mon, step it up!" as said by Sonic step up your security.

People can be very cruel. Why do these hackers love to torture us gamers so much? Sure, they like doing it because they can, but they shouldn't! Isn't this kind of madness illegal? Somebody needs to stop these hackers before everybody's precious data is taken away from online gaming!
Lucky for me, I never use credit cards for online gaming.

I'm back (for the moment)!

Wait, my Sega Genesis could have gotten hacked?! They better not have corrupted my Sonic 3/Sonic and Knuckles save files! Does that mean they came to my house and stole all the passwords I wrote down in the instructions for Road Rash? I am oh so angry!

Wait, you can use a Genesis to connect to the internet? Oh boy, I can't wait to play Ghouls and Ghosts online!

The only thing thats going to happen is people are going to stop using the video games online services. Is that what they are aiming for?

I was talking to some parents at my kids school about this and they have disconnected their Xbox, PS3 and Wiis from the internet cause of these hacks. I feel sorry for the kids personally. These companies are going to have to rethink their Online services or they are going to lose alot of gamers.

There are a few simple things you can do to significantly improve the safety of your important information when shopping online:

  • Use a different password for every site you join. If your password is stolen on one site, it won't compromise your accounts elsewhere.
  • On sites which store your credit card details, remove that information after you make purchases. Assuming it is properly purged from their databases then your cards will be safe. (Apparently this is quite tricky to do with Xbox Live however...)
  • If your credit card company offers a digital verification system (like Verified By Visa) it's also a good idea to register for that if you intend to use your card to shop online.
  • Only shop from home (not on a public computer or through an unsecured wireless network) and be sure to have antivirus/antispyware software active.

This is why I like online stores that don't store your credit card information (like the Wii/DSi shops and GOG). If their systems are hacked, none of their customers' credit cards are at risk. It's a trade-off for convenience certainly, but one that guarantees security for its customers.

Actually... you can. (Or could have.) Well, not to play networked Ghouls 'n Ghosts though. That would have been amazing.

Pretty crazy about disconnecting the Wiis. The only good thing about friend codes is that there's absolutely no personal information stored about you from the Wii online.

@HolyMackerel: What I have is a prepaid Visa for all my Online activities. That way if that number is ever stolen I dont have to worry about the hackers getting all my money.

@Token_Girl: I know I thought that was going a bit extreme but I cant blame them. Its kinda scary to think about it that your kid goes online to buy a game and who knows who can get all your personal info just like that. Thankfully I dont keep CC info on my XBLA account I just use the prepaid cards but I know alot of people who do use credit cards.
