@Grumblevolcano Nintendo is sleeping the year away.....whether they hope to just coast on ACNH and a few other things before Switch 2 or whether they intend to wait out PSXBox hype to fade and then arrive again when they have some attention on them is yet to be seen. I have a lot of backlog on Switch so I'm not at a loss, but I do wonder if they're "winding down" on Switch and gearing up for Switch 2, internally, since the hardware is showing its age a bit faster than they probably hoped (but we all expected it.)
I didn't think the PS5 reveal was very strong, personally. I enjoyed it, it was nice seeing a Sony show for the first time in over 2 years, and a few games were very welcome (R&C!) but the overall presentation I'd still rate below EA's which is a pretty low bar indeed. It was not exactly "year of dreams" level....it felt like their already bland "State of Play" presentations. It opened with a 7 year old game! It was "ok" and I'd rather have it than not have it, but I didn't walk away (other than for R&C) feeling like "OMGOMGOMG I CAN"T WAIT TO ASK SANTA FOR A PS5!!!" I'm hoping XBox can wow me a bit more than that, otherwise I'm going to be kind of jaded against the whole generational transition and cling to my "legacy" consoles for a good while.
@BruceCM I'm not longer a PC gamer, so that's not terribly interesting to me. I do "like" Sony's exclusives, and a few of them I love (Ratchet makes it a must own. And some Atlus and other Japanese titles make it a must own, though Switch has really conquered that territory while PS goes ever more into being what XBox was ridiculed for becoming.)
At this point you have Sony loyalist devs in Japan, but I feel like anyone in Japan that knows what hands feed them knows that Nintendo is where they have to be. As long as XBox captures some of the AAA Japan, I don't see what Sony has going for it as it races to westernize short of it's well regarded first party games.....about half of which cater to me.)
Yeah, it means I don't need to get either next-gen console, though, @NEStalgia .... That's the exciting part! I shouldn't need to spend as much on my PC as getting both would cost, for a good few years yet
I didn't spend that much on it in the 1st place, @NEStalgia.... We'll have to see how well it lasts but obviously there's other factors, too
I doubt you'll be the only one waiting awhile to get the next gen consoles, though
Nearly finished Gears of War 2. Damn this was a good game. WAYY better than the first game in my opinion. More interesting story, more interesting environments, more interesting action set pieces.
Lols, it comes up in several discussions, @BlueOcean .... When people are talking about the consoles, it's relevant & when they're talking about a lot of games, too
Well, some people might not know that yet, @BlueOcean ... & it's less well known that quite a few of the games Sony showed are also coming to PC! I liked how, for instance, SE said in that trailer that Project Athia was made for PS5, no mention at all of anything else & it's only if you noticed it said 'console exclusive' that you might bother to check & then find another trailer, almost exactly the same but saying 'PS5 & PC' instead
A few are initially coming to Epic Game Store but most are confirmed to also come to Steam after awhile, too. That's really info you have to look around for a bit more, generally
Yeah, @BlueOcean .... There's obviously a few that will be actual exclusives & most PC gamers hate EGS, so if any stay there instead of coming to Steam 6 months or a year later, that'd be a shame Really, all the trailers were clear enough, if you're used to their format! If it says 'console exclusive', it means it's releasing on PC about the same time. 'Timed exclusive' usually means it's coming to XBox & PC about 1 year later. 'PS exclusive' should mean it's staying on their systems at least for a few years
While anyone familiar with SE would strongly suspect their upcoming game would head to PC pretty quickly! The more confusing part was checking about if it was supposed to be EGS exclusive but strangely most games only do timed deals with them, so it's only their own things that might be
