Ah yes, Sonic Unleashed. Eggmanland on 360/PS3 is way too long, one of the advantages of the Wii not being powerful was it being split into stages.

Grumblevolcano

Dezzy

Isn't Unleashed on the 360 just a worse version of Generations?

Ooooo I just found Fable Anniversary for a good price too. That's almost impossible to find cheap. Having a right backcompat month right now. FF13-2, Amalur and Fable Anniversary.

Xbox One X 'performing phenomenally' says NPD

"Xbox One sales show the highest growth of the three major hardware platforms in the U.S. this year, and the Xbox One X in particular has been performing phenomenally... year-over-year growth like this at this point in the cycle has never been seen before, driven by launch of the Xbox One X and new content delivery efforts. It's a mid-generation turnaround the market's never seen before. This qualifies as phenomenal, even if not market leading".

Xbox One X is the console where I have tons of retro and new games, but most of them were really good deals and it has become a gaming paradise with Rare Replay (I always mention this one but it's because I bought my first Xbox console, the original Xbox One, because of it), backwards compatibility (huge library), Games With Gold ("free" games), Game Pass (generous subscription) and the latest X-enhanced games without the hassle that PC Master Race entails as @NEStalgia explained so well some pages ago...

@ReaderRagfish ...and that means that I played my last Wii game this year (Xenoblade Chronicles) and still playing Wii U games (Xenoblade Chronicles X).

@BlueOcean I want to have One X so badly but the cost is high IF they will release a new console 2019.

In my country the one X is around 523 USD. If they are going to release Xbox Scarlet I would love to keep my money on that.

Banjo-

@Zuljaras It is expected for 2020 so you can wait until E3 2019 to see if it's announced. I assume that if they release it in 2020 we will know about it next year.

@BlueOcean Does One X have hardware revisions like the PS4 Pro? I mean like versions CUH-7200 etc.

I know the One X is almost silent but are there models revisions that are better than the launch X consoles?

I would like to know as much as possible before making such decision.

Banjo-

@Zuljaras There aren't hardware revisions like with the Pro but each Xbox One X unit is individually calibrated (Hovis method).

There are a few Xbox One X owners that have reported fan noise but most of them, including my launch Xbox One X, are nearly silent, people here can confirm you that. Noisy consoles are probably faulty units. The limited Scorpio model and the standard model are exactly the same inside.

No intense heat is expelled from the console. The X is the only console that has vapour chamber heat sink so it doesn't require a noisy fan like the Pro and it doesn't get as hot either. It is the best engineered console ever because it was wisely optimised and customised, including built-in mathematical operations in the CPU.

I really recommend you this:

https://www.eurogamer.net/amp/digitalfoundry-2017-project-sco...

It's an article and video made by Richard Leadbetter who was invited to check the console in Microsoft's headquarters and while he loves technology his writing is simple to understand. You will learn a lot just by reading that. Really recommended even for people not interested in X, you learn a lot about console engineering.

@BlueOcean That is nice! Thanks! I want to have the holy trinity of the console gaming. I have the Switch for Nintendo and handheld goodness, PS4 Pro for the BEST exclusives and I want One X for almost everything else.

@Dezzy Can't think of any other game to add to the BC list, from a catalog of around a 1000 (if not more) Xbox 360 games, and nearly as much OG Xbox games? That's some specific taste you've got there, my friend...

@BrainOfGrimlock I mostly consider myself to be an "Amsterdammer", and if I go by @Octane's logic, that means I'm not actually Dutch, because Amsterdam is a separate entity within this country...

But in all seriousness: I do have a Dutch passport, so legally I am Dutch nowadays, but I don't feel as if
I am, and your roots never disappear, so there's that. Unless of course we're talking about parents or grandparents, but in this case, it concerns me, so fully Californian, with a hint of German (ancient forefathers) and fully "Europeanized" by living in the happy and free Netherlands, which (for the most part), is pro-American but anti-Trump...

On a side note: funny that you know Tweakers, although if you've stayed here long enough, you'd probably come across it at some point, seeing as it is the largest tech site of the Benelux...

As for the on-topic stuff: don't agree with you on Kingdoms of Amalur: it's one of my all-time favorites, and
I really liked the story and the game as a whole. Never did finish it, though...

P.S.

Wouldn't be caught dead in Utrecht, since I do very much feel tied to the city I live in. And most people over there don't like Amsterdammers, so I'd actually be risking my skin going out there. (got a full-blown Amsterdam accent, with not even the slightest hint of American English. Comes with the territory of having lived here for so long)

As for there being too many poisons over here: in my experience, they can be found all over the world. Perhaps not so readily available, but still. Might be that it looks more overwhelming here, because of the relative large amount for such a small country, but I can find the same things in the States, and probably also in Australia, although I must admit I've never been to your country. Would like to, except the 27 hour long flight, and the cost of it, is kind of holding me back...

Anyway, hope your internet is going to be fixed anytime soon now. And once it is, I'd call the internet provider for a refund, for the number of days that you were offline. If they don't comply, threaten to take your business to another provider, unless there isn't any other in your area, but I assume there will be.
That Morrow guy is an idiot, though. Don't know in what bubble he's living, or what he's on, but it sure as heck isn't a reality check, something he desperately needs...

So, @Octane, how'd you figure that Amsterdam isn't Dutch? Because of all the various nationalities walking around and living here?
Weird that I forgot that you've also been here. It isn't all that common among people on here, so usually, I'll remember it if someone mentions it in some comment. Oh, well...

Just here again to once again express my amazement at how simple Game Pass and BC are. Never played Fallout but I can start with the third one now if I want.

Welp, Microsoft said that since I didn't send the images (which I did), they closed the report.

Here we go again.

Well, opened a new one, the guy seemed to understand the situation.

This time I sent even more images and waited for the guy to confirm they have the images before letting him go.

If they mess again, or somehow refuse to replace the code, I'll have to tell Amazon so they can compensate me themselves.

@Zuljaras It's only a year and 3 weeks old....I don't think they've had time for revisions yet. As for a new console, especially with Sony skipping E3, we can be they're not announcing anything until at least Fall 2019. That means Holiday 2019, or sometime in 2020. MS, ideally will just wait them out. They have a "new" console with the 1X compared to the aging PS4 they can sit on and promote until Sony shows their hand, and just 1-up them either in power, price, or both. Basically, they can use Sony's time honored strategy against them. 2020 at earliest, Sony-pending is my bet.

@BlueOcean Yeah the turnaround is just incredible. 3 years ago I expected MS was going to leave the console industry and was guessing if they'd sell it to EA, Valve, or an electronics firm like LG or Samsung given the noises from the board and Nadella and the flagging performance of the product line overall. To say not even Microsoft saw this coming isn't an exaggeration. Though it does put launching a new console in a weird position, timeline-wise, since for them Gen 8 kind of just started a year ago.

@Dezzy It's not a worse version of Generations. Generation is a medley of the best parts of a ton of games remastered. Unleashed is Werehog plus some fun parts. "At least it's better than Boom." And Fallout 76....

It's still so funny that the best thrill to so many of us for owning "The world's most powerful console!" is the ability to digitally buy 10 year old games we owned on a much less powerful console already But dang if that isn't a really nice feeling compared to PS4 that keeps me enticed. I love having that collection of a decade plus of games at my fingertips like PC without buying "Classics" editions of the same game every generation. (Granted, PS5 will do the same thing, because XBox does it, and they'll proudly introduce PS3 back compat and will be praised as making revolutionary steps in gaming...and the press will have endless "How Sony reinvented gaming for the better in 2020!" articles )

@BrainOfGrimlock I'm laughing at the "digital future" of all "digital games" and "streaming only" and "only major metros spend enough money to justify on games anyway." talk. Meanwhile Comcast introduced 1TB caps across the US.....the #1 ISP, and the only ISP in many areas (and one of two in the others), and now they're promoting their wifi and cellular plans, and their big new feature for 2018 on all their high budget holiday commercials? You can now buy data by the gigabyte for only $12.99 per gig!! THE FUTURE IS NOW Much as I'm enjoying my all-digital X1X, I don't see an all digital console being fully mainstream acceptable unless it wants to be niche, in the US (or AUS?) until I'm too old to hold a controller. We're not just living on relic technology that can't handle it, the new pushes for technology are retrogressive from the old ones. 1999 DSL could download all the games, albeit very slowly, better than Comcaps current offerings.

@ReaderRagfish I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing that we prioritize our lives around making sure we fit in all the video games we intend to. But I regret nothing.

@ThanosReXXX No worries, it's not that I don't trust you specifically. I just apply broad security policy as a standard. It's kinda my thing I think through these things, and treat everything like it's an NSA classified op. In part because that's just my nature, and in part because I've been trained to do so as a matter of business. I quadruple verify all avenues of information visibility (or invisibility) before doing anything. It sounds nuts, but I deal with people regularly who are a lot more paranoid than me as a matter of business necessity

@Zuljaras " I have the Switch for Nintendo and handheld goodness, PS4 Pro for the BEST exclusives and I want One X for almost everything else."

And, yeah, that's the way you do it! What's funny to me is I have that exact setup, and I've found that while I do still love many Sony exclusives, that platform sees the least use. There's always room for handheld and Nintendo goodness, and 80% of everything else is best on the 1X. So the PS4 is kind of an "other" console the way some people treat Nintendo to me. I still have, including VR, probably 30-35 exclusives or games that are pseudo-exclusive (ME:Andromeda, DX:Mankind Divided which perform better on pro than X because they have Pro patches but not X patches, having released and commercially failed after Pro launched but before X launched), and things like KH3 that I bought on PS3 to have with all the other KH games, and those include some huge games for me...but compared to X1X and Switch, it definitely gets far less use as an "exclusives box."

What's funnier is 3 years ago, there were a lot of reasons to own a PS4, and not really any reasons to own an X1 if you're not a die-hard Forza fan. A lot really changed with the 1X and BC and the OS updates. Also, games like DoA6 aren't going to be censored on X1 like on PS4, which is hysterical. 🙄

NEStalgia

Zuljaras

@NEStalgia Well I really dislike racing and sports games so those are not worth to me.

But I love the BC part of the Xbox even if it is with download only.

The only exclusives for the xbox for me are the Fable games. And they done I think.

But the PS exclusives are just way too good.

So the one x will be my place to go and play some great 3rd party games and it will make some 360 games playable. I am looking at games that play at around 20 fps so I could play them at 30.

Banjo-

@NEStalgia I also think that Xbox Scarlett will be released in 2020 at the earliest and after Sony to surpass them technically. Not earlier than them, the X is perceived as a superior product compared to Pro and they want to keep that perception with Scarlett.
