Of course Nintendo fanboys are going to say Halo is crap. Unless, of course, Halo is released on a Nintendo console, and then it's the best thing ever.

I don't own any of the Halo games, or an Xbox, but it's a good series of very solid FPSers. And yeah, everything AlexSays said.
I mean, if you honestly think that Halo, one of the most popular and well-recieved games of all time, is the worst FPSer of all time, then you either haven't played many FPSer games, or you're so arrogant that you believe a few million people have really poor taste.

The problems with these threads are that they're just lists, so it comes off as people listing random popular games they hate. Very few posts have any explanations whatsoever.
Is Halo really the worst FPS ever when it's critically acclaimed as one of the best in its genre, sold millions of copies, and spawned several successful sequels? Not likely. Same goes for Call of Duty, Half Life (Orange Box is not a game, grr), etc.
Unless people have played so few games that they're limited to choosing between Halo 3 and Killzone 2, but then that's worth noting in the post.
Some of the first reviews were kinda obvious, such as "It sux because it's not on the PS3"

I still keenly remember the anti-Square hate that was levelled by Nintendo fans when Square was essentially locked in to Sony. Then Final Fantasy remakes and the Crystal Chronicles series was released and all of a sudden Square wasn't so bad any more.
Really, the worst FPS that I've played is Hexen on the N64.
Except the remakes are remakes of games from Nintendo consoles, and Crystal Chronicles were designed for Nintendo audiences, so I hardly see that hating Square during that period is entirely groundless. So far all the Final Fantasy games I've played on any Playstation system, aside from Tactics, were pretty bad. Of course, I can't stand Crystal Chronicles either, but whatever.
I remember liking Hexen, but I also remember liking a bunch of awful games on N64 that I can't stand to play now. I wish my rose-tinted lenses worked.
As for worst FPS... uh, I don't know. I tend to forget games if they're bad. I've definitely played a lot of games a lot worse than Halo, which is a pretty standard shooter that's very polished. I'd like to know what major complaints people have about it that doesn't apply to a million worse FPSes, too.

I think you missed my point. There was a whole lot of generic "Square suxs" from Nintendo fans when Square snubbed the N64. Once Square started putting stuff out again, remakes or otherwise, suddently (most of) that generic blanket hate stopped.
I find the whole "FF <number here> is the worst RPG of all time" equally stupid, for the record. Again, you've clearly not played many if you honeslty think that series is anywhere but the top of the genre, or you don't like JRPGs and probably shouldn't be playing the games in the first place.
worst fps is halo it is such a basic shooter with a bad story and nothing special and every game is the same as halo 1 with small changes here and there, the only halo to do any good was the rts game. but on a nintendo system would have to be the port of wolfnstine on the snes
Well, no claim of "worst ___ of all time" can be taken seriously in the first place since it is impossible for someone to even know if he's played every game of a genre ever, not that anyone would ever have the time or money to anyway, so I think you are reading too much into it if you take such a comment literally. I wouldn't go so far as to call any of them the worst I've ever played, but I'd definitely say X2 was one of the worst I'd ever played, and 7 and onward are definitely nowhere near the top for me.
I've got no problem with anyone thinking a popular series is not up to snuff, but it'd be more interesting if they said why. No series is beyond reproach, even Halo, even Final Fantasy.

I just played through Halo 3 again and a had a blast, I forgot how much fun the combat was in that series. Haters gonna hate.
As far as worst FPS goes, not sure as I too tend to brush aside the crap ones from my memory. It'd probably be some Build engine leftover or possibly a PS1/N64 one. Turok 3, if I recall, was pretty terrible but I hesitate to call it the worst. Never played Daikatana, so I'm just going to go with, uh, hmm...I'll say BackTrack on GBA.

But if we are talking strictly console I'd have to say Brothers in Arms: Double Time on the Wii.

Let's say a family goes to Walmart looking to buy a system for their family. But there are no Wiis in stock and the PS3 is more expensive than the Arcade Xbox360, it seems logical that they would buy a Xbox and some E rated games, but not Halo 3. Unless they have a little patience and wait for the Wii to come back in stock.

I was just pointing out that there's roughly 40 million 360's sold and about 11 million copies of Halo 3 sold.
I'm not so much concerned with the demographics, only that it's clear there are definitely a few 360 fans that aren't huge fans of Halo. Which would include the families looking for the E games.

I actually think the original Red Steel, would make an awesome FPS game if they simply redid the controls in it now. They could do it as a NPC Red Steel.
I've played through the original Red Steel twice now, and enjoyed it both times. I really thought it was an underrated game; sure, its controls needed work, but it was a release title FPS for the Wii. Level design was nice. Explosions were really nice. Destructible environments. Local multi-player.
The "worst" FPS I've played, is a tough one. I really didn't enjoy Half-Life 2, though I did play it on my PS3. I also didn't enjoy the first Halo, I thought the last level was just ridiculous for no reason. I have played all the Halo games, and completed the single-player campaigns in each; though I don't own any of the games.

I wouldn't buy Halo even if it were released on wii. I've never been as bored to a game in my life. My arguments against it are on the first page. This has got nothing to do with fanboyism. I think xbox and 360 has plenty of great games, but Halo is just not one of them.
