Honestly, my biggest regret is not buying a PS3 last generation. That thing was expensive to start, sure, but by the end of its life cycle it had the better games for me, hands down. I'm so ticked I never got to play through the Uncharted series, Ni No Kuni, Last of Us, Little Big Planet, etc.
Getting a PSP Go and not selling it sooner (I sold it like a month ago). Before I sold it I literally didn't even acknowledge its existence for three months, and when I did before that, I didn't even play it for long.

You can still get one. It's not like they are going to stop selling them anytime soon.
*Buying a Wii U
*Not realising sooner how big of a mistake it was
You can buy any console and regret it throughout the first year or so. 3ds by many was considered a mistake the first year, look at it now. It's up there with Gamecube, GB Micro & Neo Geo Pocket Color -all looked at as mistakes by some people I know- for my personal favourite system ever.
My biggest regret is not directly game-related, except for selling every game back in the day, to have money to buy new, often disappointing ones. Many games I sold back then are very collectible now. Luckily I found many back.
But my biggest regret is not buying the Skull Kid statue of First4Figures, when it was available -and affordable- in my local gamestore. I did get the Exclusive Phazon Suit Samus for €150 though, and didn't even pay it myself! Best gift EVER.
5 Buying too many trash 3DS games, early in its lifespan.
4 Buying the Fire Emblem 3DS over the Pikachu 3DS XL
3 Not buying Xenoblade
2 Not buying Metroid Prime Trilogy
1 Scatching Tatsunoko VS Capcom
NSMB.2 looks like such an unnesassary sequal. I don't even want to bother with it personally, but i must for the sake of everything Goomba. tee hee.
That's exactly the reason why I bought it in the first place. I'm very thankful now that I got that out of my system. Things can only get better from here on lol.

@Waveboy so silly! And that game looked like a real ... poop
Guess we're drifting out of topic but we had some speed-running competitions at Paris Games Week last year of NSMB2: pretty exciting. You might want to say to them hardcore competitors that they were playing poop live on the stage.
Buying a 360.
Buying a PC and not making my own.
Being a Sony fanboy in my younger years.
Playing Terminator Salvation.
Buying a Wii U too soon. (I don't regret the purchase, just the timing of it).
Never beating a MGS game without alerts/kills.

I understand, but at this point in my life I'm a bit cash strapped to just go out and purchase a last-generation console for a few hundred dollars when that money could go into my PC or a next-gen console that will see a new, fresh life span. The second I see some sort of deal on the PS3 for $100 then we might be talking, but until then ... that $200-300 could be a new crossfired GPU in my computer, adding FPS and life to my rig. Also, if the PS4's backwards compatibility turns out to be pretty decent, it would make total sense to just grab one of those and get the best of both worlds.
Probably feeling like I had to have a Wii U at launch while I failed to realize that I was already very content with just the Wii, DS and 3DS as my main systems. Buying nearly every game I want on the 3DS has been trouble too, as spending so little time with a game before moving on just is making the experiences feel hollow. I may have failed to realize as well, with these game purchases, that I'm very content with my prior experiences from the DS's library.
Biggest regret? Getting rid of my old gaming systems: My Intellivision (and all the games which were in very good condition), My Atari 7800 (and a whole stack of 2600 games--including ET!), My NES, and my Atari Lynx...
But, at least I kept my SNES, and all the games I had. And they are still in near mint condition ...except for the yellowing of the SNES. It's a time capsule now, though.
I bought way too many of the 3DS launch titles and mediocre releases from within its first year. (I own Shinobi and Crush3D) I bought them too quickly and didn't get to spend much time with them as a result. They weren't even that great either, I think I own more than half of the launch titles.
I regret selling Metroid Prime Trilogy before I even finished it. And not playing Xenoblade sooner. I own it, but I still need to get around to it.
