Topic: What game will be game of the year?

DSiWare: Shantae: Risky's Revenge. Definitely. Supposed to hit next month, I think.
I can agree with Shadow Complex. Hard to believe anything better will release in the next two and a bit months.
Can't speak for WiiWare, really. There hasn't been very much of anything I've really wanted out of it all year. Cave Story will probably win, provided it actually releases this year.
PSN: Hmm...I'd say Trine, but that's on PC as well. Not sure what should win that one. I'd need a better memory for what else has released this year to decide. It's not worth worrying about right now since there are still unknown releases forthcoming, though.

@Stuffy...... Did you see I posted in this thread Every Game Retail that released this year with a rating above 8 on MetaCritic. I will do it if you dont and will put up everything by category. Prob wait until December though to make sure we have the years games out.

@slapshot: Maybe we should just work together for this thing; no point fighting over it. I recommend waiting until January, though, so we're 100% sure nothing else awesome will be added on any downloadable networks. That way we can keep fooling ourselves with a vague hope of Earthbound on the 29th.

Uncharted 2. No question! If anyone here has a PS3 and doesn't have Uncharted 2 than I feel sorry for them. Next year will probably be God of War 3 or Final Fantasy XIII I'm hoping for the best.

I'll understand if someone can't afford a PS3 or the game but if someone who can have both but not choose Uncharted 2. I don't want to even think about it. lol.

So far Metacritic has Metroid Prime Trilogy scoring highest for Wii. If we don't include compilations, Guitar Hero 5 and Beatles Rock Band are tied as the highest scoring games with DJ Hero and Tiger Woods 10 coming in next. I'd be really sad if Guitar Hero or Rock Band won though. They are just repeats of every previous GH/RB with new songs. I think some reviewers must REALLY like music games. They're fun and all, but they're not "top 3 games all year" good. Little King's Story is the highest "game" game.

All Nintendo Wii games scored over 80 on Metacritic for 2009.

For Nintendo DS GTA: Chinatown Wars is solidly in first place with Mario and Luigi: BIS coming in second. Much better than the Wii top two imho.

I beat Uncharted 2 last night AND I got to put it at the top (sorry Team Ninja, and Rocksteady). I am really an underdog fan I am but in all actuallity Uncharted was a underdog. The reviews weren't great and the sequel fix major issues of the first game it just got a Lot of deserved hype. Uncharted 2 for game of the year no ifs ands or buts about it.

Well, I don't really know anymore...... Gamespot has the only GOTY I've ever even heard of.

Yeah...whose contest ARE we talking about? All I know is, Modern Warfare had a "Game of the Year" edition, just like Oblivion and Fallout 3 have. I assumed that meant they were the "Game of the Year' winners for their respective years.
