Hey all--so I've been slaving tirelessly for the last few months trying to learn multimedia fusion finally so I could work more on my design without depending on my programmers (and it's great for prototyping).
This started as a prototype for something we were working on at work, and evolved into actually kind of a fun one-frame game. It has 30 waves, and 2 player drop-in co-op if desired. You basically run around firing at enemies--friends have said it's kind of an unholy bastard child of Zelda 1 and the overhead levels in Super C. I'd like to think it's a nifty way to spend 15-20 minutes of your time--see what ya think!
It's called Brutal Alien Throwdown, following my absurdly over-the-top, took-a-minute-to-think-up naming scheme.

a little under 1 meg (900-something kb); alpha build. Shouldn't have many/any bugs--let me know if you find anything. ohrcity@ya

Let me know what you think! You can be brutally honest it's ok--it's a training project after all. Took me about a week to slam this one out.
NEWER EDIT: All prior bugs are solved and this version (now 1.0) and addition of Joystick 1 control (for players 1 or 2) or Joystick 2 control (for player 2) are mapped to F-keys (F5 through F9, as detailed in the readme). The game now has a help file: press F1 to access the Readme directly through the game file (it's still included separately as well). Press F2 to restart if desired--enjoy! Who can make it to Wave 29 and obtain the Murdershot powerup!?
TY sir--unlimited continues if you read in readme. Each one jacks an extra 250 points--e.g., 5th continue costs 1250, 6th costs 1500, etc....that way you never game over but you can't get a high score unless you play well. Figure it'll satisfy the noobs and the Corbies alike

very nice. not bad at all, Swerd. my friend and i are working on an rpg, and i'll be sure to do this same thing to get some feedback from you all on NL. but yeah, seriously, i liked it. yuou ought to send it to addictinggames.

word yeah just checked their site out...looks like they're all flash games, and this was MMF (needs a special plugin to be playable via browser) so I don't think it would work...it would be amazing if I could get it hosted somewhere though. Making any sort of ad-based financial return of a fun, learning experience-filled week of programming/design would be icing on the cake. Big Fish does mention MMF being used in some of their best-sellers....
/off to do more research

I got my ass handed to me on Wave 8 once i opened the wall of pants (they're not pants are they?), I'll play a bit more later so I can make a proper judgement. I'm pretty impressed though, graphics are basic but clean, sound effects are nice and clear, and the dude controls smoothly. Well done.
lol....pants. My graphical abilities are next to godly. They're supposed to be little volcano-looking magic towers...and yeah that level's kinda busted but it holds a random inside-joke significance for my roommate and myself...gotta leave it It's actually the reason you can walk through them whenever you're flashing (1 sec after taking damage or 2 sec after spawning a new wave)
I may change the object name in-file to MagicPants Lv1-Lv3 now.
I'll try it out today after my last class, since its a small file and it sounds like fun

Nice Job Swerd_Murd! I think you made it a bit too hard, though. I'm pretty sure that gaming ninjas don't die on the third stage (AKA I = Epic Fail).

@V8 and anyone else - there are a couple cheat codes...if you email, ask nice, and promise not to share, they may just appear as replies in short order....BUT I require a cleverly worded question requesting them.
@Swerd_Merd Ha nice one.Good game, pretty tough though especially when you lose your power up's. I got to wave 8.I'll play some more later or at work tomorrow
@Swerd..... NICE Job Man. I love these kinds of shooters. I got to hit up the Readme but Ill just ask... Is it compatible with a gaming controller? I seriously lack skills without one I got to level 7 before I died but yeah controller and I will OWN lol. So beat level 30 Im guessing with more than 20,000 points.... consider it done. I got to hit up some Sigma while I got a chance but I will be back at it later on tonight. Great Job Man.

I'll add joystick support for you. Toss me an email and I'll reply with the ammended version (I'll try and add joysick 2 support for second player.) if u beat wave 30 with more than 20k u would've gotten all 3 cheat codes as a reward
can't implement both simultaneously due to some shortcuts i took design wise...also haven't tested joystick 2 since i only have one joystick that reads normally w/o heavy xpadder-ing.
