Was seeing this on the web today but I just got an e-mail from Amazon moments ago:

"Hello,
We have received new release date information related to your pre-ordered video game in the order you placed on June 07 2011 (Order# xxxxx). The release date for the video game listed below has been changed by the publisher, and we want to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date:
"PlayStation Vita - 3G/WiFi" Release date: March 31 2012
hopefully, this isn't gonna be the same situation as 3DS at launch. Regardless of uncreative sequels that makes NSMBWii and Spirit Tracks look revolutionary by comparison, it seems likely that Vita's best launch won't be completely dissappointing and lame.
That's still an estimate date, which gives us a good idea when it should launch, but I wouldn't say that's the launch date. Unless 01net says so, as after everything with the Wii U and the 2nd Circle Pad, I'll believe anything they say.
Hmmm, a little bird told me that it might be as early as late January to early February, but that is completely unconfirmed. March 31st seems a bit too long from the Japanese release, but hey, it's entirely possible. I don't want to wait that long!
That seems alittle like the 3ds launch. Hopefully the vita does well cause if this fails that will be bad for sony gaming.
With the combined First and Third party support that's already taking place with Vita, not to mention the thousands of games that are already available to play on Vita in the way of PSone Classics, PSP Minis, and possibly some PSN games - PS2 games that just landed on PSN yesterday and could likely be playable on Vita too - I'd say that the chances of Vita not being a success is slim to none. The low price point just fuels the excitement for Vita, and that's why the preorders for the system have already stacked up worldwide.
I don't give two ***** about what system sells more than the other and all that mess; Vita and 3DS will both be successful in the market, as they both offer their own unique approach and style of gaming. Nintendo and Sony will continue to push handheld gaming onward until the next generation of handheld consoles arrive!

The "estimate" refers to my delivery time based on my chosen shipping method.
That's the end of the financial year, so the latest date Sony will launch the Vita in the west. I personally think it'll scrape in a little earlier than that, but not by much.
