I could either get a 19 inch 1080p monitor or a 24 inch 720p tv for gaming. i hear gaming on a monitor makes the image quality sharper but i wwould like to know if that's true and which option i should go for.

Look, get a 32" Samsung 1080P TV. Then again, all I see is their 32" 720P TVs these days. Look, either should be good, but perhaps you could get a splitter, and hook up your PC (maybe a gaming PC), your cable, and your gaming systems in the monitor. I would recommend the Flatscreen TV though.

Actually most PS3 and Xbox games tend to be below 720p. I could probably count the number of games out that actually run in 1080p on the consoles. The Modern Warfare games run below 720p and games like Crysis 2 run well below even that. I assumed since we are talking about a monitor this is also for a computer. Which even without PC games, is still nice to have on high resolutions.
