Neptunia Riders vs Dogoos
Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection
Captain Blood
Tamagotchi Plaza
MindsEye
Ambulance Life: A Paramedic Simulator
Scar-Lead Salvation

Two Nintendo games creeping into the "Worst of 2025".

Well done Nintendo. Well done.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,540 games (as of January 28th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

I can only see one Nintendo published game there, not two.

I'm surprised that Call of Duty Black Ops 7 isn't on there considering the reception it got.

Also, I'll probably pick up Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos eventually, once I finish up the older games (in other words, several years from now, since I've got many left).

My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons

Bubsy still being nominated for the 'worst game of the year'in 2025 is amusing. The new game Bubsy 4D could be decent though.

For whatever it's worth, metacritic has an official 'worst of 2025' list which doesn't quite line up with the bottom of naively sorting the normal list because of multi-platform releases.

Welcome Tour and drag x drive were not low enough to make the bottom 10, but the mobile fire emblem game was so Nintendo still made the list.

MindsEye - PS5 (28/100)
Fire Emblem Shadows - Mobile (37/100)
Blood of Mehran - PS5 (38/100)
Spy Drops - PC (39/100)
Gore Doctor - PS5 (40/100)
Tamagotchi Plaza - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Switch 2 (43/100)
Ambulance Life: A Paramedic Simulator - PS5 (44/100)
QUByte Classics: Glover - PS5 (44/100)
Scar-Lead Salvation - PS5 (44/100)
Fast & Furious: Arcade Edition - PS5 (45/100)

welcome tour was 54/100 so actually quite a bit above these 10.

It has to be said that, once you go below fifty, review scores tend to get very arbitrary. Not having played any of this year's contenders, I won't comment further than that.

Also, the "worst" game is invariably just the one you got most hyped up for that didn't quite deliver.

Although I don't disagree exactly, I think that's because most truly bad games are simply never reviewed. I've played my fair share of eShop sludge which definitely deserves below 50, but not a single one has a Metacritic score.

Some of those bottom games in this list are clearly disappointments which could have been better, but just from the title, description, and screen shots of 'Ambulance Life: A Paramedic Simulator', I would have assumed that one would be a sub-50 so I'm kind of surprised it was reviewed.

@FishyS Yeah, I was mainly thinking of the top two there.

Mediocre indie games that had just enough reviews to creep over the threshold for a Metascore are definitely a factor as well, and they're probably not the worst games of the year either.

Oh yeah I forgot they re-released Glover.

They should be embarrassed forever they couldn't re-release Glover correctly. Glover. An N64 game. It's like if the NSO N64 launch was just one game and had as many problems as all those games had combined.

@kkslider5552000 I wonder how much is down to the port and how much is just the original game's jank.

In spite of its cult status, it's not exactly something that you'd recommend to the unwary.

Absolutely not a 'terrible' game by any means (maybe a 6-7 out of 10 IMO) but Metroid Prime 4 was certainly the biggest disappointment of 2025 for me. I actually gave up about 5-6 hours in, as for me the game was showing no signs of improvement coming any time soon. Just really... underwhelming? I'd really hoped for more for this franchise, praying that Dread 2 will be viable in the near future - I love what Mercury Steam did with the IP for Dread 1.

@Matt_Barber As someone whose played it, it had some clear basic issues by the standards of the original game from what I saw of it. The one that I remember is that I believe the enemies were somehow the wrong size, which is a fascinating problem to have happened.

Out of the 80ish new releases I played this year, worst for me would be either Mario Kart World and Monster Hunter Wilds.

It's going to sound hyperbolic because it's obviously not a bad game (ie. it works, it's polished, it's got nice enough visuals etc.), but for me personally, Donkey Kong Bananza is the worst game I played in 2025. I just hate the game design, the constant micro rewards and micro dopamine triggering. It's practically just a pachinko machine in a different coating. It also felt entirely soulless to me, for a Nintendo game. I might not have enjoyed MKW much either, but I can see some Nintendo magic in that one at least.

I really enjoyed Nintendo Switch Welcome Tour. Until recently, I'd put in more hours into that than Mario Kart World!
