I am positively sure that the Sony conference started at something like 02:00 in the morning this time last year. In any case, I shall be getting ready to teach my class not long after eight o’clock so, I guess I will have to wait until I go home later in the afternoon before I read up all about.
I just hope that we are treated to a new game announcement from Japan Studio, as well as seeing the likes of Final Fanatasy VII Remake, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Shadow of the Colossus Remake and Shenmue III.
@Octane I just want proper footage of it. A lot could be accomplished with modern console tech if they approach it right. The original is still awe-inspiring, even with its muddy PS2 textures and 20 fps gameplay.
@BLP_Software inb4 "my sources were wrong, not me!" Anything to justify the clickbait, right?
Sony showed the same two first party games they revealed last year at E3 and announced one big third party game besides so they will announce six new AAA titles at Tokyo Game Show which most audiences worldwide won't even be watching because it's translated from Japanese.
OMG They announced Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operations 2 and the trailer was in English! I hope that means they're planning a world-wide release this time, the first Battle Ops was one of those games I had to jealously watch videos and streams in order to experience, and it was basically Titanfall with Gundams. I loved Titanfall! I'm so ready!
Final Fantasy IX is now out on PS4! Which means the 20 bucks I spent on the Steam version really was a waste. Not to mention the PS3 re-release and the original discs I bought years ago but never played because another version was released before I got to it...hopefully this is finally "it" for me...
Vanillaware's 13 Sentinals: Aegis Rim looks more and more interesting every time I see it! Too bad said times are always so far between eachother. Oh well, that's always been a thing with Vanillaware, and I've always been left satisfied, so I'll trust that they're using their time wisely.
Yet another Earth Defense Force game was announced, and even the trailer is referencing how oversaturated this series has become, yet I'm reminded why I was interested in this series in the first place. Hopefully it's the best one yet and not just another minor upgrade.
I'm still probably the only one here who gives a crap about Sonic Forces and Shadow the Hedgehog, so his inclusion as free post-release DLC definitely has me giddy, to say the least.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT looks freakin' amazing, and I'm glad we get to see what the HUD looks like. It's mostly the same as Duodecim, but it was hard for me to tell what I was looking at in previous videos without it. Also, they added Noctis from FFXV, who at least looks fun to play.
And they've finally added the best characters in the Dragon Ball universe to Dragon Ball FighterZ: Yamcha and Tien!...Okay, they also announced an original character, too. We'll see how that goes...
Also, not directly related to TGS, but I recently took a look at the Little Witch Academia game they're making, and it actually looks pretty cool. I'll have to remember to watch the anime TV series sometime, so I'm up to speed.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and No Heroes Allowed! VR is getting a worldwide release, and I could not be happier!
It doesn't take a whole lot of thought to realize that Monster Hunter: World's announcement for crossplatform systems was a huge blow to Switch in Japan. It's still doing well on its own, it just has less reasons for MH fans like me to care about it now.
In any case, could we turn off the console wars now? The Vita 2: Switch was never going to happen, it doesn't take fanaticism to realize that.
Monster Hunter always does well, but it's not like any system's success hinges on it. It sells about 4 million copies per release, mostly to people who already own the system.
MH World on PS4 isn't really going to affect Switch, and a future exclusive MH on Switch isn't really going to affect PS4. It's a great game to have and certainly enriches the library of whatever platform it's on, but its just a game that sells a few million each release. Nothing more. All those people who thought it could save the Vita were kidding themselves. At best a million people would have bought the system to play (And that's a generous "at best").
Speaking of MH though, @rjejr I got it! Sealed the deal 30 min ago when it went live on Amazon Japan

@JaxonH You make it sound like selling 4 million copies isn't an achievement or something. I mean, you're right that a PS4 Monster Hunter game won't kill the Switch...because the Switch has Monster Hunter, too. And consoles aren't exactly convenient in Japan, either. I'm pretty sure they were joking, earlier when they called Monster Hunter: Worlds a 'Switch Killer'...
@Dezzy It looks pretty damn good, too. Hopefully I can get into it, and my inevitable purchase won't be a waste of money like every other isometric RPG I've bought!
@CanisWolfred
No, it's great. It's just not a major factor in a console's success. PS4 will definitely see a bump, but in the grand scheme of things, if it sells 100 million units lifetime, it'll be lucky to even boast 1 million of those came as a result of the game.
And if Switch gets a new portable entry, it'll sell a ton, but it's not gonna have a major impact on the system in general. It's selling well regardless, and if it does 80 million it would be lucky to boast a million of those came from the game.
Maybe he doesn't buy a Switch cause it doesn't have a new MH. Maybe 100,000 people don't buy one. At the end of the day that's still a pittance. And if we get a new game on Switch I'll be thrilled, but it's selling well regardless and a new entry wouldnt really change things one way or the other. It'll make fans happy, but no console's fate hangs in the balance by MH.
@JaxonH Well that's good. Hurricanes, earthquakes, Jax not being able to buy something and asking me for help, it was all getting a bit too end of the world for my liking. Is it your first Pro? Not that you needed an excuse to buy this bad boy, but that could have been one. I know your gaming oasis was already up to date w/ the bionic Wii U and the flat screen.

But you know me. I have the limited edition New 3DS XL MH4U edition, and the New 3DS XL MH Generations edition, and tons of MH collectibles and figures and games and cover plates displayed. The limited edition of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and soon the limited edition of Monster Hunter World. Even have that signed poster from the director of MH4U framed on my wall...
This is the crown jewel (I'm gonna use this controller from now on!). I may also break down and buy the MHXX limited edition Switch. That dock would look great in my setup. Then I'd have a MH PS4 and Switch, and I'd be a very happy gamer.
