I wasn't overly fussed with the design when we all looked at the amateur photos on the web however, in person, it really is a sleek looking thing. I love that the PlayStation logo is the only 'shiny' looking part of the whole unit.
The hard drive bay comes apart nice and easy, with just the one screw to take the the hard drive in and out of its hiding place. I also really like those triangle, circle, cross and square icons as the foot rest - it's a very small thing, but a nice touch all the same.
Best thing about the new design?
Quiet. It is so quiet.
The disc tray makes a bit of a whirring noise for a couple of seconds, then it is quiet from there on. Uncharted 4 is one of those games that makes the OG PlayStation 4 sound like a miniature rocket, but I genuinely couldn't hear anything until I put my ear right up close to it.
So I guess from all the delays, Sony's holiday sales pretty much solely rely on PSVR. Sure there's that wave of December games but the main source of holiday sales generally end up being up to Black Friday week.
After all, the $349 Black Ops III bundle was the best selling console from November last year until June this year, and this years bundle includes both Infinity Warfare and the Call of Duty 4 remaster.
That's going to carry Sony through this Christmas, not their first party games, or the lack of.
@Grumblevolcano The backlash is mostly because you cannot buy/play the Call of Duty 4 remaster separately; you have to purchase Infinite Warfare to do so.
It sucks, but it's business and it is going to sell gangbusters.
@Peek-a-boo I thought a big part of the backlash was Infinite Warfare being another modern CoD hence why the reactions to EA's choice to go with World War 1 in the form of Battlefield 1 was so massively positive.
@Peek-a-boo Correction: you have to buy the special edition in order to get Modern Warfare Remastered. They aren't selling it seperately (initially, you damn well know it'll be a standalone in ~6 months). I almost preordered yesterday just because I thought I'd be getting two-for-one, but like hell am I gonna pay $120 for ****ing Call of Duty. I didn't even do that back when I liked them...
I learned that you cannot use shareplay or shareview or sharewhatever with the other person if they're playing a game that was not released in your region.
What was the game?........( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) <---- THESE emoticon is worth a thousand words!
I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!
I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!
@CanisWolfred Yeah, I muddled my words a little bit there.
You can buy Infinite Warfare on its own however, if you want to play the Call of Duty 4 remaster, you will have to purchase both games in a 'legacy edition' package.
I'm just saying, the 1TB PlayStation 4 slim with both games in one bundle is going to sell like hot cakes, regardless of the lack of Gran Turismo Sport or the belated arrival of Gravity Rush 2 and The Last Guardian.
Anybody that's in the UK can buy a PlayStation 4 slim for £190.40 if you have a student card (NUS Extra and the like), as Amazon are price-matching Tesco for the next three days.
I told three of my student friends about this, and two of them immediately ordered one without hesitation!
The RRP is £259, which means this deal is a stonking saving of £70!
The all new Area X is being previewed by various media outlets and they are all saying that this single new area is worth the price of admission alone.
It's going to be a near religious experience when playing this on the PSVR!
IGN are saying that it runs at 60fps and in a 4K resolution on the PlayStation 4 Pro too!
@WebHead At this point I don't really care. There's so many games coming out in early 2017, I don't have the time to play them all at once anyway. Better save the best for last then.
