@Octane yeah february is looking really packed, hence why i think it along with sea of thieves will be moved to april.

February is Persona 5 month for me. So is March, if I'm being honest. Anything else that releases around that time period is just going to be ignored.

@Octane I'm going to be a good boy next year and just buy, play and finish one game at a time, and not feel pressurised in chasing after 'the next big thing'.

I feel quite happy at the moment knowing that Rez Infinite, Gravity Rush 2 and The Last Guardian will be my last three games this year.

I think Resident Evil VII (if it sticks to the gameplay of the teaser demo) and Horizon: Zero Dawn shall be the only two I'll buy on day one though.

Finished Gravity Rush Remastered the other day (got the platinum trophy for it too!) and am now beginning Tearaway Unfolded whilst continuing my journey in No Man's Sky.

Things are good.

@Peek-a-boo It works for me! However, I don't know whether I'll be able to finish The Witcher 3 before any new games pop up. There's a couple of indies I want to check out, but there's big coming this year anymore. I want to play Paper Mario, and for the PS4 TLG and Gravity Rush 2 too. Maybe Dragon Quest Builders / World of Final Fantasy? But I probably won't get those day-one.

Definitely getting Horizon Zero Dawn day-one too. Zelda as well, so I need to finish Horizon before that (assuming it comes in March). NieR doesn't have a release date yet, so I wouldn't mind if that was a Summer title. I may pick up Hitman too in January. We'll see. I already forgot half the games coming out next year..

Also surprised you're syill playing No Man's Sky; Haven't you got bored yet?

Octane

Peek-a-boo

@Octane Yeah, I think the noticeable lack of indies in the next couple of months makes me feel good about completing the games I am currently going through before Rez ∞, GR2 and TLG comes along.

I keep forgetting about the NX coming out next year!

The longer Nintendo chooses to keep quiet, the more disinterested I become though. I would very much like to play 'Breath of the Wild', as I have played (and finished) all of the home console Zelda games so far however, at this moment in time, I am not overly fussed about it.

As for No Man's Sky, I got a little bit bored with it the other day, but when I found a new planet that was genuinely unlike any of the others before them, I no sooner begun to enjoy the feeling of newfound discovery all over again!

It's good fun in short bursts.

Anyhoo, there's a Gravity Rush 2 demo up on the Japanese PlayStation store for those of whom cannot wait for two more months!

@Peek-a-boo I'll just get the Wii U version first. I'll wait and see how the NX does before making a purchase. So that leaves on Zelda as my Nintendo game for 2017 for now. Plenty of time to catch up on the other titles. I told myself that I wouldn't complete The Witcher 3, but I'm currently doing all the side quests and discovering all the secrets, so in the end I think I may go for completion. That's probably enough to last me through September, October and November!

@Peek-a-boo WHAT!? You mean I can play Gravity Rush 2 TONIGHT!?!

Well that was a hell of an ARG. At least the demo's finally downloading (6 gb).

For anyone else who wants to, you have to create a Japanese PSN account (which can't share an email your normal PSN account has used), get PS+ on that account (there's a 2-day free trial available), and find the demo in the store to start downloading it. I figured it out using these two guides:

Too.. much.. effort.. I'll wait until November..

Octane

Haru17

You know what that was?

Re-SPLENDENT!

Worth all that trouble for the music alone! It's a rather short demo, so I understand not wanting to go through a bunch of loopholes written in Japanese, but after the tutorial it opens up into the city with all of the new mechanics and destructibility and—

I levitated a barn full of ducks. Levitated them wings a-flappin' & all!

Excellent. Best open world design. Feed me. Also, circle is Japanese X and vice versa. BUT THAT MUSIC THO!

I'm hyped.

Thanks for posting your impressions on the demo. Sounds like you had fun.

I think I'm just going to avoid any more gameplay of this until the full game releases, though. I don't want to get invested in a demo and then have to wait a bunch of months to play the rest of the game.

@Haru17 How's the performance?

I watched a brief snippet of a 'first play' on YouTube, and when things got busy (especially with that robot machine in tow), the frame rate looked quite erratic. Did it affect you much?

I am aware that it is the very same demo they used for E3 back in early June so, let's hope they are able to iron out any further performance issues within the next five or six weeks!

Persona 5 is the fast-selling game in the series in Japan.

Of course, who's surprised when it gets advertised alongside the PS4 like this?

Is Rez Infinite VR only? I am having trouble finding information on that. I will say that I'm happy we are getting the Berserk Musou game. One less import is money saved. Looking forward to Gravity Rush, Nioh, Yakuza, and Persona.

EDIT: Ugh just watched some trailers for Yakuza 6. I need December to come on...I am still salty about VF 5 FS being in the game though...make a new one SEGA, come on! But seriously Yakuza is the series that keeps on giving. Still need to pick up isshin.

@Ryu_Niiyama Nope, it's just a regular PS4 game with PSVR support. So you don't need PSVR.

Octane

Ryu_Niiyama

@Octane Nice! Thank you! I guess I'll be buying Rez again.

Just browsing on Amazon, and I noticed something. All these Day One Editions. Jeez, Square, are you that desperate to sell your games? That's another reason why I don't buy their games at launch. Day-one stuff, DLC, season passes, micro-transactions and other exclusive stuff. There's always the inevitable re-release that ends up being much cheaper anyway.

Octane

Haru17

@Peek-a-boo The only time I noticed any stuttering was when you do the huge jupiter style charge kick and shatter a bunch of geometry. Other than that it ran pretty smooth, granted I'm not one to notice frame rate. I don't think it'll be very noticeable in gameplay, though.

And I was mistaken: the stuff with Raven actually is in there. The title screen says "press any key," but it really means "press X or circle." X gets you the Raven stuff along with lunar and jupiter style, while circle nets you a tutorial and one of the bulky nevi minibosses from the first game.

Side note: This game has the most attractive attract mode I've ever seen. That music! Anyway, super-fun demo. Biggest takeaway after coming back to it is that it's just like Gravity Rush 1 with better combat. The game's quality is going to hinge on the writing and mission design.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Haru17

Hmm, Gravity Rush 2's frame rate does stumble a bit while fighting the big robot. I figure it's just because it's in that market space and both his and your attacks are blowing up all of the stands. There's a ton of debris in this game. You see pebbles levitate up from the ground whenever you gather projectiles. It's really beautiful, especially with how Kat gets this blue-glowing cel shading outline in her shifter form. Faces are still sub-Skyrim, though, which is why they're still going in for the colored manga cutscenes.

Peek-a-boo

@Haru17 That's where I see this 'stuttering' on the YouTube video, when the player fights the big robotic looking thing. To be fair, there is an awful lot of things going on on-screen, which was always going to take a hit on performance.

Outside of those quibbles, it does seem like Gravity Rush+

Both the combat and traversal looks as good as ever too!

@Octane All those 'Day One' editions not only spoil the box art, but it encourages some folks to wait for an 'all-in-one' edition. This is what I shall probably do with Final Fantasy XV in the quieter months next year, if the game is worth playing that is.

In all honestly, World of Final Fantasy looks to be more appealing to me at the moment!
