@RR529 If you do not like Quick Time Events just turn them off. That is what I did. Now the QTEs are like little cinematics and I love it!

Man Bloodborne is fantastic. Improves on DS1 in almost every way, and while there are some loss of QoL, like with how leveling has extra steps to it, it's still fantastic.

The only thing I'm not entirely down with is the healing system. Now you can farm healing and immediately hit the healing cap, and it's not automatically filled from lamps like in DS1. I much preferred DS1's Estus, which was balanced better since the game knows you'll always have a set amount for every part of the game without any grinding involved.

Otherwise, so far I think this nukes DS1, and I loved DS1 too. Can't wait to finish it!

Only Black Friday stuff I got were the $40 PS+ subscription, Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise and Valkyria Chronicles 4. Was hoping to get Soul Calibur VI or Spyro/Crash, but the latter isn't even out yet (didn't realize the Dec 1st dates weren't placeholders from when the Spyro Trilogy got delayed) and the former was sold out by the time I got around to shopping. Besides, SC6 will probably have a complete pack or a sale on the DLC pass some time next year. I'm just gonna wait it out.

Glad you like it. Bloodborne's probably my 2nd best game of this gen, after Witcher 3.

You can raise the healing cap later on. Although not by that much. I think pretty much everyone agrees that DS1 did healing best.

I still don't like the blood vial system in Bloodborne tbh. I've finished the game twice and beat the DLC but it always came off to me as needless grinding.

So I've finally gotten around to starting Darksiders this weekend in preperation for the third one. It's quite a fun game, and the art style pops very nicely. Apparently it was done by an X-men comic artist?

@PikPi I think yes. Currently I am doing the same think. Got 1 and 2 for the PS4. I beat them years ago but I still can play and enjoy them.

The only issue I have with Darksiders Warmastered edition is that my PS4 Pro is very loud and have horrible coil whine so I play it with my headphones.

It has something to do with the damn 60fps.

In Spider-Man I just completed the mission that was showcased at one of the E3 conferences (the one with the helicopter chase), which was pretty cool. According to my save file I'm 48% through the main story, so I'm about halfway through.

As for side stuff, I've collected all Towers, Backpacks, Landmarks, Pigeons, Black Cat photo points, and have completed all Thug crimes, Fisk Bases, & all currently available sidequests. I only have one Research station left to do, but quite a bit of Demon Crimes (and of course the optional activities that haven't opened up yet).

Damn, Darksiders 3 bombs with the critics. 64 on metacritic.
Darksiders 1 and 2 both got over 80.

Well given that it's such a busy quarter, I don't mind some games are volunteering themselves to be the inevitable losers.

I've only read one review and the worst they could say was that it feels a bit dated. If that's the main issue raised by other critics then I think I'll be fine. It'll honestly probably be a breath of fresh air amongst all these more complex games.

The reviews I've read suggest it's largely abadoned the Zelda/Metroidvania aspect so it's mostly just the fighting now.
That would definitely dissuade me from trying it. If fighting is your only thing, it has to be incredible. Like Bayonetta or something. Which Darksiders generally hasn't been. Its combat is average.

The third is different too... but for the moment I really enjoy it.

Darksiders III is a cool game, not a masterpiece, not a crappy game but just a nice experience to enjoy.

The only real differences between the 2nd and 1st that I noticed were that it became a bit more open-worldish and it became a bit more RPGish with its items and stats.

@Ralizah OG PS4 ran the stupid fan the whole time it was in standby, at least on older firmwares, not sure if that's still true, so that wasn't the wisest feature to use. But Slim and Pro are fine.

@EvilLucario Interesting that you're liking Bloodborne so much. It's a lot less dated that DS1, and it doesn't leave as much unexplained, but I still feel DS1 is significantly better. Ultimately I still love DS3. It takes what worked from DS1 and adds the improvements that Bloodborne made to the mechanics to product a smoother product. Glad the console wasn't a waste for you though. I just can't stand Bloodborne at all, despite liking DS. (my Sekiro is on preorder though.) I like Nioh too. That's one to keep on your radar now that you have the PS.

@Dezzy I'm still looking forward to Darksiders 3. I'm not sure why it bombed so much. I know they were making it shorter than the previous ones. They were supposedly kind of rebooting it to be more Souls-like. A set number of bosses you can do in any order, and difficulty scales with you for the remaining areas. that's fine though because 1 and 2 were completely different games....3 should be too. I like how they experiment with it. I'll miss the zelda-ishness of the series, but it's still the original producers, so I'm hoping it's decent.

@Cobalt After the dumpster fire that burned so hot it lit the dumpster itself on fire and turned it to slag that is Fallout '76, Darksiders III would be a masterpiece if it was a palate swap with E.T.

@Dezzy 1 was a linear action combat game with zelda-like puzzles. 2 was a full on open action-RPG/looter plus zelda dungeons. 3? We'll see. I know they were going for Souls-lite. I'll still miss the puzzles though, but I can't help but wonder if the reviews are skewed by those expecting one thing and getting something else rather than actual critique.

@NEStalgia I have Nioh on PC already and will most likely get Sekiro on PC too. Nioh's really good and has the best healing/offensive system out of Dark Souls/Bloodbone, but the enemy variety and level design aren't as good as Dark Souls/Bloodborne so overall it's not as good as either of them imo. Still awesome though.

@EvilLucario Ahh, I hadn't realized Nioh was on PC. Really weird it's a "console exclusive" then.

@NEStalgia It's like Nier: Automata, except actually playable :^]

(Although in my experience the PC port was fine, who knows what would happen after I start it up again though)

@EvilLucario Yeah I'd heard the horror stories of how bad Nier ran on PC. Though it's an S-E PC game, it shouldn't be a surprise. Still Nier went multiplat, maybe Nioh will too.

Re: the fan noise, it’s one of the biggest things that ever puts me off using my pro - pretty warm over here so the thing is incredibly loud just idling!

That being said, the ‘new’ pro is apparently much quieter - even for me though, a self confessed fool, that seems like an upgrade too far (but worth it if you haven’t upgraded yet?)!
