This isn’t going to drive a renaissance into Mac gaming, I think it’s a big deal for the Switch in particular since they use an Arm-based SoC like Apple’s devices utilize. During the macOS WWDC presentation, it was highlight Metal’s version of upscaling and this game was the showpiece during the keynote. Apple doesn’t share Metal with other companies, but I would imagine NVIDIA could help with developer tools to make these transitions smoother for the Switch. After all, Gabe mentioned NVIDIA was working with Valve to bring the Portal collection to the Switch.

We still don’t know what the next Switch will offer in terms of hardware. I’m hoping NVIDIA, Samsung, Qualcomm and AMD are getting their Arm-based SoCs ready to be at scale to Apple’s A and M series chips. If others can emulate Apple, it will definitely put a hurt on X64-86 in the market.

I do wonder how would it run on my m1 Air. I might get it just for the novelty.

According to Masaru Ijuin, it’s impressive how it runs on the new MacBook Air with the M2 chipset. I would imagine it’ll work on any of the Apple Silicon Macs without much issue, so this will be interesting when it’s released. I won’t be running this game on my late 2018 Mac mini 😆
