Topic: PS3 Price Slashed to €249 or $249

It's has just recently come to pass, but the 160gb model of the PS3 has just been slashed US$50 and UK€50, down to US$249 and €249. If you've been on the fence about grabbing a PS3, well here's another reason to hop over the fence and snatch one up.

Will 360 and Wii follow suite with price cuts too?

As long as they keep bringing down the price, it will keep selling, and eventually take over the xbox on worldwide sales. I do wish they would throw in Move as well though, to make it even more appealing and really establish that platform.

$250 seems reasonable. I'd almost prefer buying a PS3 over the Vita.

The Wii has no more room for price cuts, just bundles. I full expect another 360 price cut though.

Why would the Wii be cut any further? $150 is a good deal with a couple of games

Yeah, Sony and Microsoft have been following each other with prices drops since the previous generation (at least in NA), so there undoubtedly will be an announcement about a 360 price cut soon. I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't drop the Wii to $99 until the Wii U is out.

Darn. I'd love to buy a PS3 right now, but school is coming up and I don't want to get distracted... Then by the time I can buy it, the PS4 will be announced and no one will play the PS3 anymore

@The_Fox Yeah after the 360 one I don't see any of them going any cheaper until the next console iteration is out (Wii U, PS4, and Xbox 720 or whatever they'll be called).

@Iz20XX So is the PS3 at $299! I paid $499 for two of my PS3 and 399 for my PS3 320gb PS3/Move Bundle. I feel I've gotten my money out of all of my purchases and at $249 the system is a complete steal!

@billy-beauts Agreed! Sony needs to start pushing Move with some decent advertisement,etc. I think right now though, their main focus is Vita and Move Sony isn't ditching Move anytime soon.

I'm pretty sure $250 was the Wii's price at launch. Finally I can actually afford a PS3 now!

This. Sony treats the Move like an unwanted step-child, while Microsoft has pushed Kinect like it's a completely new platform. Marketing goes a long way, folks. But that's Sony for you. They gave up on the PSP Go, they pretty much stopped supporting the PSP in America.

If I don't get a satisfactory outcome on the return of my 6800 MS points, I'll probably be ditching my 360 for a PS3. tbh, I haven't really missed playing it for the two weeks that my account has been locked for their investigation. Also, since I'm purchasing a Vita, I think the PS3 would be a groovier thing to have for their compatibilitie with each other. I also need a Blu-Ray player in my bedroom so purchasing a PS3 would solve that problem as well.

Definetely gonna get one now.Even if I only use it as a blu-ray player it'll be worth it. (Thats how I'll justify it to the missus anyhow ). There are some exclusives that I'm definetly intrested in and it will be nice to have the choice when choosing the best versions of multi-format games. Good MOVE Sony.
