Topic: Pledge Your Allegiance: Console or Handheld?

Generally speaking, do you prefer consoles or handheld for gaming and why?

Myself, I find myself opting for the handheld more and more lately. I appreciate being able to get up and walk around with the device, take it wherever I'm going, and find the most comfortable position in which to game even in my own home, or to multitask and play while cooking or whatever. Playing for a few minutes here and there, putting it to sleep, and picking it up and instantly playing from where I left off, playing in bed, stretched out on the couch, or upon the porcelain throne, it's just so convenient. I'm also preferring the types of games that come out on handheld. JRPGs and VNs seem to have gravitated towards handhelds, so that's where I've gravitated as well.

Overall, I've been playing my Vita and 3DS lately much more than my PS3 and Wii U.

Console, if I'm not home, I usually don't have time to play games anyway.

Consoles, because I don't take handhelds with me on commutes. I play handhelds in the same place as my consoles, and will therefore often neglect my handhelds in favor of a console game.

Handhelds but I don't take them anywhere to play so I just stick at home and play. Something about handhelds games that I like about.

Console. If I want to play games on the go, then I'll play a small game on my phone I mostly play my 3DS at home anyway

I'm much more of a console gamer. I play games at home 90% of the time, even on my 3DS, so the portability isn't really something I'm terribly interested in. I'd much rather have the option to play on my big flatscreen.

Handhelds, because I've come to realise outside of exclusive games there's not much reason to own home consoles when you have a PC instead.

In all honesty I've been a "HandheldGuru" forever. And while Fallout 3 has me addicting to my PS3, I think I'll always be a handheld person There is just something grand about curling up with a handheld, plugging in the headphones and being teleported into a (smallish ) world all on your own. Now if Nintendo would bring me some faceplates...and SquareEnix gave me DQVII, I could die a happy handheld gamer.

I started gaming with handhelds, so I am mostly a handheld gamer.

Handhelds. I share time on the tv, and I tend not to like to game when the family's around, so it's nice to have a dedicated system to use for gaming.

I mostly game at home so handhelds don't do much for me even though I grew up with them.

There's something I like about a games machine having its own screen, especially as HDTVs generally have more issues displaying games than SDTVs did (motion blur etc).

As handhelds get better controls and better graphics, I'd rather just take a slightly lower resolution and play everything on handheld rather than console.

I personally prefer the console type of experience but in terms of games themselves, they're equal without a doubt.
