I had King's Story in my Wii collection, but I never got around to playing it including Pikmin 2: New Play Control. Loved the Wii version of Pikmin 1(Switch version, not so much). Elebits is another fantastic Wii gem and wonderful showcase for what the Wii remote is capable. There was nothing else like it at the time. Unfortunately, only the first stage runs at a stable 60fps, everything after that just plummets, even down into the N64 20fps range.

I did in fact play Armillo on Wii U.

It got some praise at the time, which unfortunately speaks to how desperate Wii U owners were. It was...fine, I guess.

@WaveBoy Never played elebits, looks interesting though! Couple of my fav wii games I've held onto,

House of the dead: overkill - love the grind house aesthetic and tongue in cheek humor of this one.

Sin and punishment: star successor - replayed this not too long ago, really fun shooter with some wonderfully creative enemies and stages. Definitely has that signature Treasure style.

Madworld- always found it interesting that wii games really had to be bold to stand out in an era when the wii had far less graphical horse power than the competition. This game is probably one of the best examples. Love the sin city style b&w visuals, and swinging the chainsaw with the wiimote was satisfying as hell. Makes me wish we got an evil dead game on the wii.

So, get this guys, I haven't played it a whole lot, but I've played this game called Super Mario Bros. Has anyone else heard of it?

I've played a DS game that's called Giana Sisters DS, which is heavily inspired by Mario. It's not quite as good as stuff like Super Mario World, but I thought it was a pretty decent Mario-like. I even went ahead and finished the game years ago.

I also mentioned this next game on a previous "what are you playing this weekend" article, but I've also played Railbound. It's a puzzle game where you'd guide train carriages to their locomotive by drawing railroad tracks. It's got a cute art style, too. ❤️ I got it on sale at the eShop earlier this year. (And I checked said article... I was the only one who picked it!)

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️

I've played Elebits, Pac-Pix, the Polariums, Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, and Madworld of those listed before me! I'm mad I've never heard of Sheep, and sorry that while I have heard of Nostalgia, I've never picked it up.
Sorry I'm not tagging anyone for easy tracking.

Trying the stay in the realm of someone could have conceivably played it:
LEGO Alpha Team (Gameboy Color)

@Zaruboggan Where did you first learn about Nostalgia, anyway? I guess it shouldn't be too surprising that at least some people have heard about it here.

Still, I wish more people talked about it more, and say why they loved it. It deserves more praise as a not very well-known game.

Sin & Punishment: SS was fantastic. Although, I wasn't too crazy over the cold mono tone-like performances from the two lead characters. They're two steps away from looking like they're from Jim Hensen's The Dark Crystal, but that's a good thing! The most memorable stage was the underwater tunnel and those giant eels...I can only imagine how incredible it would be to get a 3rd person VR mode on Steam Frame and re-experiencing the entire thing in VR. It would be so exilerating, intense, that much more enjoyable, magical, visceral and surreal. Then again, any on rails shooter would. The last Boss btw was such a funker'. Pure bullet hell madness!

Finished HOTD: Overkill as well. And while i dug the entire grindhouse vibe and twisted boss designs, the 30fps cap really hurt the experince, coming from 60fps with HOTD 2&3 Return, and the levels tended to drag a bit. It was like a 6-7/10 for me. But I'd absolutely bite if they ported it over to NS2 @60-120fps, with 1080p - 4K, with 9-Axis gyro aiming. Again, it would fair abizzilon times better in VR with Steam frame, but I'll take what i can get until the PCVR mod scene takes care of it.

Unfortunately, Madworld never won me over. it's SinCity comic book b&w presentation was neat, but i just never jived with the game play. I remember Deadly Creatures and No more Heroes left audiences a bit devided as well. NMH surprisingly had it's hooks in me, regardless of it's repetitive gameplay loop. The Story, characters, the fact that it was so bizzare and oozed with so much style and creativity, the bosses themselves and battles were easily the highlites that kept me tugging along. The hub world was a bit trash and rough around the edges, and the jobs were such a grind. It's not a polished experience, but that pretty goes for every Suda 51 game in existence.

@PeterTomlan86 I learned about it from a gaming mag. Probably Nintendo Power. There were so many JRPGs being announced all the time, I was in heaven! Sands of Destruction, the one with Heracles, Nostalgia, that game that riffed on Wizard of Oz...
Naturally, some slipped through the cracks. I wonder how much a copy of Nostalgia goes for these days...

Oh man I remember the Wizard of Oz game. I think I knew it entirely because XSeed was publishing it, among like...seemingly half of the most interesting Wii and DS games around that time, so they were worth paying attention to.

@Zaruboggan You think Nostalgia could have fallen into obscurity because of everything else releasing at the time?

If you're interested in buying a copy of Nostalgia and playing it, you can purchase the cart of the game on eBay for $30 without the case and instruction manual. Buying it with the case though, will cost you 75$! Yes, I know, how can a forgotten game like that go for so much, anyway? Is it just because it's an RPG?

But getting Nostalgia for 30$ I would say is worth it, if you want to spent a little over a reasonable price for it. I would be curious to know what you would think of it if you played it too. 👍
