I thought I aced the April round! But the "other suggestions" show me that I didn't correct #19. Not sure which other game I missed?

May is the easiest round so far, for me at least. Missing 15 and 24 still. I'm fairly sure I played both, but googling the first guesses led nowhere.

You didn't have "Mad Max" and "Nitro" in April. It's too late now to check for details (overwritten for May round).

But yes, you are doing pretty damn well for the DOS classics.

May Quiz - Clues #1

Well, is the old DOS tower still booting properly? Or do you satisfy your nostalgia via emulators instead. ^_^ This months riddle is well received so far - forty people are in, and one from this forum.

Here are some clues - good luck!

1) Four games were published by EA.
2) In the 11, 13, 15 and 16 you are driving a car.
3) There is a first person shooter hidden in the second row.
4) I made a mistake with game #5, that isn't a DOS game. -_-

Deadline is Sunday the 31st of May, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

So, I forgot to submit Mad Max, too! That one I figured out right after the first submission.
I had a hunch that it was a problem with submitting them piece by piece (and me dorking out on that), so I resubmitted the May ones all at once yesterday evening.

May Quiz - Clues #2

Did you know? The data transfer rate of an original 90s single speed CD-ROM drive was 150 kb/sec. The disc drive of a modern Playstation 4 however reads 27000 kb/sek. Look at all that progress!

But let's hurry back to this months quiz... as sunday next week it'll be over. So far there are 70 people playing, and two from here.

Here are the last hints - good luck to all of you.

1) Two entries were developed by Bullfrog.
2) The oldest game is from 1987, the newest one from 2000.
3) Three titles were published by Microprose.
4) Image 18 shows the intro of the game.

Deadline is Sunday the 31st of May, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

June Quiz - Frankensteins Monster

Red Alert! Red Alert! All values are off the scale, containment breach is imminent... save yourself, tHe mOnStErS aRe cOmInG!!! o_O

We expect a breakout of four creatures like mankind has never seen before - pieced together from parts, like the legendary creature of Dr. Frankenstein, but not from corpses - no, built from the video game monsters that YOU picked last round! D:

Can you identify all body parts of this monstrous horde?? Because only then, ONLY THEN, can these beasts be driven back!

There is also a bonus question, as the source of the title image (the lab with these ominous glowing glass cylinders) is taken from a recent video game. But which one?

Deadline is Tuesday the 30th of June. This post is just the intro... the monsters will be revealed one after the other in the coming days.

This quiz has been inspired by an idea from the user a gentle Breeze from the Powerplay forum, his work failed two years ago due to a lack of participants. Here's a link https://tinyurl.com/yb2u335a (click on "frameset laden" at the bottom for the full forum). I have his permission to try this format again.

Monster A (one out of four)

ALARM! Containment breach! Everybody get ready! A Creature has broken free from its cage, and it is... and it is... a HiDeOuS mOnStEr! o_O

Identify as many body parts as you can - you can name the game or the character.

Please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com - it's our only way to stop the beast!

Amazing idea. This one was fairly doable. The bonus one is much harder... how recent is "recent"?

lifer

JoakimZ

Great quiz theme! I know 5/7 parts for sure. I know i recognize those feet, but I can’t place them, gonna have to think real hard to figure them out. That robot part of the head I don’t recognize at all.

Will we get some clues as usual?

Mr_Horizon

aww, thanks for the positive feedback!
It was more work than usual, but I am very happy you all like this format.

@JoakimZ yes there will be clues as well. This week you'll have a new "monster break out" every two days, and the following two weekends will have posts with clues (depending on the average scores).

@lifer for me, "recent" would mean the past 12 months.

This is a great idea! Sadly, I don’t play many video games, so I don’t know any answers. Maybe I’ll answer if I recognize something, but I wouldn’t count on it. I know those teeth, but I’ll need to think on it. In the Docs, do you put it in a certain order?

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

Mr_Horizon

@BabyYoshi12 Thanks!
The order of your games doesn't matter, as long as you don't enter parts of creature one in the list for creature two.

Mr_Horizon

Mr_Horizon

Monster B (2 out of 4)

ALARM! We detected a second breakout, prepare for the encounter! The fog fades away, and it is... it is... a frightening pixelated mass of tentacles, giant eyes and lots of teeth! Run and save yourself! o_O

Once again, identify as many body parts as you can - be it the game or the character.

Join via http://www.retrogamequiz.com - only YOU can stop this madness!

Mr_Horizon

Monster C (3 out of 4)

ALARM! Another glass tube has shattered - what are we facing this time??? It is... it is... oh it doesn't look so bad? No, wait! Stay away, beyond its cute face there is horror beyond belief! Don't look! o_O

No, actually, do look. You still got to identify those body parts. Name either game or the character.

Where have I seen that face before?

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

Mr_Horizon

@BabyYoshi12 I will post some clues at the end of next week. You have definitely seen this face before!

Mr_Horizon

Mr_Horizon

Monster D (4 out of 4)

Aaaand BAM, the last creature has broken free! And it is... it is... some sort of lizard grandma with a purple skirt and bird feet?! Is this a joke?? Watch it though, that's a massive sword!

With this post, this months quiz has been fully revealed. Many of you have complained about the difficulty - and it's true, this is the toughest riddle I made in years, harder than the soundFX quizzes and at least as complex as the fake screenshots from a few years ago. In short, I do not expect anyone to achieve full score.

Do your best - and end of next week there'll be some clues as well.

Join in via http://www.retrogamequiz.com, name either the game or the monster.
