In the Wes Craven movie "Wishmaster" many wishes have unintended negative consequences - similar to how this round turned a harmless bonus question into an entire quiz. Would you have entered "Arcade Games via MAME" if you knew you'd have to guess such a game correctly in the following month or face a penalty?
It is definitely a tough last round of the year, average score is below ten points... don't give up now! So far we are 22 people, and no one from this community.
Maybe some clues will help? On we go!
1) The first column is just RPGs. 2) The second column contains only Platformers (or games with platforming elements). 3) The third one is all about racing games. 4) Columns four and five have no theme... and no platformers, RPGs or racers. 5) Game number four was released in 2019.
Christmas is just around the corner - join the quiz now before holidays and family make you forget. There are some very personal presents from me as well, for I am giving you an extra amount of clues... it is a tough round with an average score still below ten.
So far we are 32 people, and none from this community.
Here are the new clues:
1) Game six is a RPG classic for PC. 2) Number 22 is a N64 platformer. 3) Title seven is a modern Metroidvania. 4) Screenshot nine shows an adventure that was also released on the Amiga. 5) On the 11 you can see a famous ps1 RPG. 6) Game 15 shows a 3rd person shooter, that scene plays in Dubai. 7) ...and the mysterious 25? On that picture you see a woman in a boat, the blue thing is a paddle.
Only three days remain of this year... less than 100 hours left for you to finally join this round. So far we are close to 50 participants, and one from here.
Here are the very last clues:
1) Number 8 is not "Need for Speed". 2) Number 13 is not "Wipeout". 3) Number 17 is not "Dragon Quest", enemies are sucked in & spat out again. 4) Number 18 is not "Daytona". 5) Number 19 is not "Virtual On", but the console platform is correct. 6) Sigh... the 25 is an arcade only game from 1983.
The year is over, once again you all have solved every video game riddle posted here. For last month this includes every possible outcome, from 1 to 25 points, and exactly ONE person figured out every single game... who might this be? ^_^
There was something special about the december quiz, as it was built from the genres you named as your favourites in the previous round. How did this turn out? Next to every game in the answers below is a "favourite genre of" entry, which specifies which users picked this genre. Behind every username is a symbol, which means one of the following:
(+) this user guessed the game from his genre correctly and gets a bonus point! (-) this user didn't find out the game from his genre and loses a point! (0) this user had above 20 or below 5 points, no points were applied. (x) this user was a no show and didn't join this round.
Now we first have the answers as text, then as pictures, followed by the high score table.

So then, a winners ceremony: Congratulations to J.R., EarthPainting, Lafazar, Splunge, and Wizdom... you are the TOP 5 and have won this round!
Also Kudos to Kong, master_Willem, Calastellio, Havie and Ruvon, together you form the TOP 10.
Here the local high score:
1 - 12 points - JoakimZ
2 - 09 points - Dogorilla
Congrats to JoakimZ for the local lead.
This marks the end of this quiz season, there'll be an end-of-year ranking coming in a week or so.
Thanks to all for participating - I am taking a break and we will continue in a few months!
@Mr_Horizon Great job with the 2019 quizzes! I’m ready for more when you’ve had your well earned break
Glad to hear.
In the end-of-year score (coming some time this month) you'll find out how this community did in competition with the others, and if Dogorilla or you scored more points that year.
The year is over, and I'd like to announce some overall winners (and winning forums) from all the contestants and points of 2019. The german language forums already got their high scores earlier this week, so now it's about time for the english communities.
As this quiz is a competition among several online forums (19 in total!), I'd like to explain how you score points for your forum.
SCORE HIGH
If you make it to the top 10 in any of the quizzes, you gather between one and five points for your forum.
ENDURANCE
Frequent participation also gets you (between one and four) points for your forum, that's how you can contribute even without lots of nerd knowledge.
Alright, this is how the participating forums have made it through the year:

A round of applause, 17th place for the NintendoLife Forum!
That's not the greatest result, as some of the newcomers pushed you down five steps - from 12 to 17!
All of your points were achieved by Dogorilla, who scored three endurance points by not skipping a single quiz last year.
There were three new forums in 2019: The MetaCouncil, the RPG Makers and the Waypoint community all joined the competition - welcome! However Waypoint is already out again, the Mods didn't want the quiz there.
And before I forget, here the winner of the last survey:
You like your damsels in distress, I see. Maybe there'll be a sequel in 2020!

Thanks to all for participating - really, if there weren't hundreds of people playing, I would have stopped by now. So thanks for making this fun for me too.
For comparison and motivation - here is the local top 10 for the year 2019. In brackets the changes to the previous year. Congrats to JoakimZ for the lead!
@Mr_Horizon I don't know, maybe if you edit the thread title each month to show the current theme for the quiz, it might make a few more people interested in joining?
A new quiz year is starting! To make sure you have time to get back into the right mindset, the first round is a very relaxed one. 25 titles without wild shooting around, and no complicated platforming either. Instead you can take your time, get coffee without pausing the game and explore the world while solving the occasional riddle. If this sounds a bit like walking simulators, well yeah, you'll find some of these in this round.
Your favourites (SoundFX, Retro Pixel, MS DOS classics...) are already in preparation - I hope it'll again be a great quiz year. Lots of fun and good luck to all of you!
How didn't I find this before. I love quizzes, although I suck at them.
I'm glad you found it - NintendoLife could use some more participants!
Can you update your submission on google docs, or is it one-shot?
Yes you can update as many times as you want - just open the form again and enter your name & forum, but leave everything else except your new entries/updates blank.
It'll be joined together in the end and newer entries overwrite anything older.
@Mr_Horizon I think I submitted answers for all pics now. Can you please see if it worked as intended?
You definitely did some updates which worked fine - in the last one you probably have mixed up some entrys. Maybe check again if you really meant to enter that name on that number.
Is there any place where you give hints or people exchange advice?
There's between one and three "hints&clues" posts every round. The March Quiz is apparently on the easier side so there'll only be one - next weekend!
In other forums the users talk much more, there's not that much going on here. Check ResetEra for example: https://www.resetera.com/threads/monthly-retro-gaming-quiz.12...
