I'll be honest, I'm mostly glad that it looks better than 11. It's hard to describe, but Megaman 11 feels like they planned it as a lower budget 3DS game, and then remastered it for HD consoles because it was too late to be a 3DS game. This one looks like if they had actually wanted to make an HD Megaman game.

It shouldn't have taken so long but at least it looks good this time. (even if 8 still looks better)

Dang, it comes out in 2027? We'll be waiting a good while for this one. Definitely looking forward to it since I'm a Mega Man fan. Kind of strange that Capcom didn't call the game Mega Man 12 though. I recognize that whistle in the end of the trailer... perhaps you could swap between Mega Man and Proto Man while you're playing the levels?

Hello. I just found this thread.

My brother and I are really hyped with the annoucement of Megaman Dual Override (big Megaman fans since the SNES era; although we played the classic games with the Anniversary Collection).

My favorite games in the franchise are: MM 6 & 7, MMX, X4, X5, X6, X8, BN 2, 3, 5 & 6, Zero 2, Zero 3, Zero 4, ZX Advent, SF2, Legends 2 and The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

Least favorite games: Megaman & Bass (the screen crunch on the GBA version was awful, the difficult spikes were really annoying), X7, MMBN Battle Chip Challenge (too repetitive and the recycled sprites were beyond lazy).

Most wished re-releases: MMX Command Mission, Megaman Network Transmision, Rockman EXE 4.5 Real Operation.

@Arcane-Fer If you play Mega Man & Bass it has to be the Japanese Super Famicom version. I believe you can find translated repro carts. That gets rid of the screen crunch of the GBA version. Either that or just find a ROM of it.

@Tasuki Thanks for the advice. My brother told me the same. Also, the music from the Super Famicon version sounds way better.

King's Theme in the GBA version is probably the only track that I feel edges out the SNES rendition. It just lands a little harder and has ambience and punch to it. Compare 0:28 - 0:52 between the two! Either way, SNES version is the way to go. GBA version crops the screen down, or zooms in on the sprites which makes the entire image feel more chlostrophobic.

I beat it on GBA years ago, but that was back when repro's with english translations didn't exist for an SNES version. I've beaten most of the classic MM games(Including all 5 GameBoy games) with the exception of 7 & 11, and MM&Bass is by far the toughest(Although, the cramped aspect/zoomed ratio of the GBA is partially to blame) of the bunch, with M10 falling next in line. It felt like Japan's MM8's redemption. Also, Burner(Especially) & Pirate Man are two of the coolest Robot Masters to debut in the Classic/traditional series. Dynamo isn't too shabby either!

Well since Megaman is alive again, I can also provide some list of things

Favorite Megaman games: Legends, 2, 3, X1, X2

Least favorite: Network Transmission, Megaman and Bass, 6 (6 is a fine game, but the new mechanics and music are so below what they should be that its a huge downgrade to me)

Games I still want to get to: 10, Zero 4, ZX Advent, the gameboy games

Games I want to try again: Network Transmission, Megaman and Bass (good games for NSO instead of actually selling them to people :V), Megaman X4-6, Battle Network (or at least see if the sequels are better), 9, 11

Looks like meat's back on the menu boys!

While the art style looks very similar to MegaMan 11, this time MegaMan is actually cel shaded, and has a smaller head and superior overall design. He looks way better. And his animation poses look correct this time. Something about MM11 poses felt a smidge off.

I just hope the music is banging. Bring back the Wily Stage themes from MegaMan 2 and MegaMan 3 if necessary.

@WaveBoy I dont know I am skeptical for Mega Man 12 (and yes that's what I am calling it). Yeah it looks good but let's be honest its all about the game play. Of course I am wondering what kind of new gimmick they have in this one. I still need to play and finish 11. I tried tue demo years ago but something just felt off with the controlls. To me Mega Man just felt too floaty in his jumps not to mention I am pretty sure they went over board with the Gear system. I dont know its great that Capcom is showing the Blue Bomber some love but the games just dont capture the magic like the first 3 Mega Man games did. At this rate I would sooner boot up one of the fan made games like Mega Man Rock Force or one of the others rather then play an official game. I still need to get around to playing 9 and 10 as well.

MM12 based on what little has been shown just looks like a better MM11, with the same spirit and sound left intact. This is not how you do an unveil trailer. You're supposed to unleash something awesome and unforgettable that actually gets people pumped and talking. Instead we got a short 'light' unveiling with early game play footage snippets of a game that's still in development that won't release until sometime in 2027. Capcom should of held off and whipped something up that actually had impact.

I'm sure it i'll be good and already it clearly has better visuals and stronger art direction than MM11, but i hope it's a bit differnt from 11 and tries to reinvent the wheel a little and shoots for a different musical style this timea round instead of the mostly ravey' modern techno ambience of 11. Torch Man's theme is probably one of the few highlites.

Oh, and keep in mind too that the PS4 version of MM11 has more latency than the NS version. 11 on switch feels so responsive and on the dime, but it doesn't have anti-aliasing, shading on enemy helmets(etc) are slightly downgraded and you'll get smacked with weird frame rate hiccup/stuttering every now and then. Impact Man's stage being one of the biggest culprets. I still think it's a hell of a lot more fun to play on Switch thanks to the more traditional styled D-pad vs the DualSense's detached rubbery D-pad, and because the NS version has low input lag.

And I haven't gotten around to finishing 11 either. I've tossed that bugger on the back burner in what seems like forever. Didn't it drop in 2018 or 2019? Same thing with MM7. I refuse to play through it in the MM LAGacy collection 2. I'd rather spend $200-$300 for the official SNES cartridge on eBay.

And the only sequel for me that managed to capture some of the magic of 2 was MM9.
I loved that game on release. Splash Woman was a neat addition as well being the first female robot master ever. Phenomenal soundtrack too! Right now, I'm still trudging my way through Shovel Knight. Once you make it to the final 3/4 of the game, it gets so much better. Once you've aquired SK's 3 power up abilities and multiple sub-weapons. Excellent soundtrack too that could give most traditional MM games a run for their money.

Shovel Knight probably has my favourite Ice Stage in any 2D platformer ever. Unless I have a day where I'm overthrown by nostalgia, and I'll simply say either Ice Man's Stage from MM1, or SMB 2's Ice World(With those water spouting Whales).

@WaveBoy Oh yeah SMB2 Ice level is a blast. I remember getting there the first time and then the whale stage OMG. Not to mention the boss fight with Fry Guy. I remember my brother getting SMB2 for his Birthday and that summer that was all he, me and my friend would play. We just take turns getting as far as we can. Such variety the levels had I loved the desert ones especially when you had to dig in a couple of the areas.

Damn this just reminds me its been too long since I played SMB2 and its time for a replay.

One thing that’s been sticking in my head is how much the trailer theme has been stuck in my head in the best way. I love Mega Man 11 but the soundtrack was really lacking, especially for a Mega Man game

Because NL should have reported it by now: voting is now open for the Dual Override Robot Master Contest!

https://www.capcom-games.com/megaman/do/en-us/contest/

Some things of note:
-You need to create a free Capcom ID account to vote.
-You can only vote for one entry, but before casting your vote, you can mark as many of them as you want as a Favorite (whether or not this will have any influence on how things will be decided is anyone's guess).
-A reminder that Capcom will pick the 6 most voted entries and choose one for the Robot Master spot in Dual Override.

@Tasuki
Ya man. SMB2 back in 88'(I got it 89) was one of the most magical Mario experiences ever. It's so underrated. Heck, I enjoy replaying it more than SMB3. It was a match made in heaven when waking up to the Super Mario bros Super Show, Legend of Zelda & Peewee's playhouse on saturday mornings.

Facing off against Mouser for the first time, or Birdo, those water spouting whales, the Ninji's, those heat seaking missle Phanto Masks and more were such a gnalry weird departure compared to what came before it with SMB1. I remember taking the SMB.2 manual to elementry school and just gazing at the character artwork, itching to get home and play it.

I still think SMWorld in 91 was the best experience overall, but 2 easily comes in at second for me.
