They'll probably price it for $10. And lots of fanboys will complaing about the price lol
But spread Shantae to as many platforms as they can. The more people know about this great game (and the fact it originated on DSiware, which people call the worst service ever and sometimes call it that with all the games in it) and play it, the better. That also means more sequels, possibly.
@comic: Uh, no, 6.99 tops. I think 4.99 or 5.99 is more likely - NyxQuest is only 4.99 on the App Store. Of course they can afford to price it lower because games actually sell on iOS, lol.
If I wanted to buy Shantae on DSiWare, it'd cost me £10.80. But I'd have to credit my account with £20 because Nintendo are evil geniuses (or too thick to allow me to buy something direct with my debit card), which would leave me with increasingly unusable amounts.
For example, £20 minus Shantae = £9.20
I could perhaps then buy Avenging Spirit (minus £2.60) - leaving £6.60
Then I may buy Gargoyle's Quest (£3.60) leaving me a round £3.00.
I might then want to pick up Tennis, which would leave me with 40p.
Later on in the 3DS life, I fully expect (unless Nintendo sort it out) unused amounts of money I won't be able to use, and even if I have, say, £3.00, and there's a single game I want, I'll still have to credit my account with a further £10 until I can buy it (even more galling if I only needed an extra 20p).
At least on the DSi/Wii (and In Europe/Aus/NZ), you could supplement your points account with Club Nintendo earned points cards, but getting back to the topic, WayForward are likely to see great sales with this port, no thanks to the install base, the wallet friendly price and the ability to pay for it like a 21st century person.
Nah, it's not the console version. I think it's like Dead Space 1.5 — story-wise, anyway. I haven't bought it, I just like to throw that pic around. ;3
.... But, I never said DSiWare is cheaper than iOS games...
Shantae is $12 on DSiWare, not $8 if that's what you're thinking.
Games rarely sell for $10 on the App Store. If they do (and sell well), they generally look like this:
The price of some of the stuff on the iOS (especially iPad) is starting to creep up though. People seem pretty comfortable with the $9-$25 range for premium iOS games - as the success of EA sports games and Square Enix games, shows.
Even if Shantae is priced as premium, it will sell fine, I think.
Really? I mean, Final Fantasy III was like, 16.99 on the iPad and I only saw it — pretty low — on the Top Charts for like a day. The Madden games always jump up the charts, but that's Madden, y'know?
Honestly, I've gotten the impression that the premium price is going down. Pirates! debuted at 3.99, then was supposed to jump up to 6.99, but after a day or two it was quickly brought back down to 3.99, and now it's 4.99. The normal price of Gameloft iPad games has gone from 9.99 to 6.99, and EA has brought down a lot of their games from 9.99 (they're not consistent at all, haha). Plants vs. Zombies used to be 9.99, but now the regular price is 6.99. Aralon: Sword and Shadow (a 30 hour WRPG that got its fair share of praise from the critics) started at 9.99 but they had to bring it down to 4.99.
Basically, I'm not really seeing a trend for higher prices. I haven't even seen a $25 iPad game.
