Not a good idea. Shantae is a game that just won't work without physical buttons. If this is true, I imagine it will turn out to be very frustrating to try and play.

I agree. Also, I really don't want to see WayForward giving cell phone gaming a spin as I'd like them to continue to focus on producing high quality titles for the traditional gamers in the way of Nintendo platforms. Personally, I'd like to see a open world 3D Shantae title. I'm also holding out for Mighty Flip Champs 2.
WayForward is such a great company I think that they and Nintendo really need to get closer together. Plus, instead of just driving MegaMan in the trashcan I think Capcom should place MegaMan under the development of the minds at WayForward.
That doesn't alter the fact that WayForward are clearly aiming to release a game on the iOS. And if I were to put on my WaltzElf hat, I'd say it's probably a good thing they are too (indeed it is). WayForward make more money and (as long as they don't abandon us), they'll be able to release more games on our systems, safe in the knowledge that they won't go out of business.

That may be true but if they wanted to port something to IOS then this isn't the right choice. As Kid_A mentioned, Mighty Milky Way would probably be the best choice for the platform since its almost entirely touch control. Even Flip Champs would work better than Shantae. It may be their most popular game but it simply isn't a good fit for the platform.

Yeah, I'm not too fussed really as long as it doesn't stop these good games from coming out on other devices too. Still, doesn't really do justice for this great game by taking away it's buttons... I guess there's some people out there that like playing their games with no buttons so good for them, I hope they all buy this and really enjoy it... but if the day ever comes that the only handheld gaming systems out there no longer have physical buttons, I will murder the world.
With that blue color pencil line in the image perhaps it's going to be a Shantae marker based game like Scribblenauts or Max and the Magic Marker.
@BenAV, I sure hope there isn't a day in which the only handheld gaming systems are buttonless. It would be a sign that the world as we know it was coming to a speedy end. I prefer something like the 3DS and the PSVita in which you have touchscreens and buttons co-existing in harmony like ebony and ivory under the Moon on a starry night. Now wheres my Piano Black PSP?
What if they ported Shantae to PSP/PS3 as a mini? Those have buttons. I wonder if people here would mind that. It wouldn't be the first game they've ported a game over to PSP/PS3 either. I say it's fine as long as they don't abandon traditional button gaming digital content for iOS exclusively. I think it's good to have extra revenue streams.
@edhe: I decapitated and hollowed out this Chocobo, just for you.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
This is good. It might even get a release in Australia now because you don't need to get games rated by the censors to release on iOS.

Must just eat you up that WayForward's best game is on PSN then (BloodRayne).
I'm all for this. The more proof I have to throw in the face of people who have never played real games on iPad and iPhone that the iPad and iPhone are not just "Angry Birds" games, the better.
