Topic: Is SEGA getting better or worse?

Instead of making games that people obviously want, they tend to make games that nobody cares instead like the Sonic Boom reveal. There's really no need for them to do that game and I'm positive that this game will not do well because it'll be rushed and probably left unfinished since this is developed by western games and westerns usually leave their games unfinished and later make a patch inorder to make up with the bugs.

Could this loss end SEGA for good? Why isn't SEGA making games that people obviously want like Phantasy Star?

I should ignore this just on principle but ok...

Sega is exactly where they've been for the past 3 years, making Sonic games and otherwise being almost ENTIRELY USELESS unless you live in Japan. It's like Nintendo's recent over-reliance on Mario, but like X10.

I don't care about games made by SEGA but they have published two of my favorite games of the generation Valkyria Chronicles and Resonance of Fate. a very cool Castle of Illusion Remake, they seem to be letting Atlus continue to do its own thing, including bringing Fricking Tex Murphy back after all this years, and they also helped SI launch the football manager franchise after Eidos tried to screw them...... so SEGA is my favorite publisher at the moment (given that previous favorite Atlus is now owned by them).

Have you played Sonic Boom? No so how in the world do you know its a bad game? Because its developed by a western developer? So was Metroid Prime and all the Donkey Kong Country games, and those came out great. Give them a chance to prove themselves before you start judging.

As for why they are focusing so heavily on Sonic and ignoring all their other franchises, it's the same reason Nintendo is constantly throwing out Mario games while completely ignoring IPs like Starfox and F-Zero, its because Sonic sells well...or at least decently... while everything else they have generally doesn't.

Nintendo is completely different. While I can agree that Nintendo is making lots of Mario games, they also make games besides Mario like Zelda and Donkey Kong. Metroid prime was produced by Miyamoto so if the game didn't sell well, then Miyamoto would've cancelled the idea of Metroid Prime.

Sonic Boom on the other hand is a thing that people aren't into it because of a Sonic game they(including myself) want a game like Colors/Generations. Granted it could be very much like New Super Mario Bros series, but the fact that they are still selling just means that this method could as well.

I feel sad that Nintendo is being insulted at this partnership thing. what if this game give a bad relationship between Nintendo and Sega? Then Sonic would no longer be in Smash games anymore and that SEGA would strictly go with Sony and Microsoft.

How is Nintendo being insulted? in fact Nintendo kinda screwed Sega by throwing 3D World to outshadow Sonic on the holidays, they were also planning on releasing DK but got delayed...... and there was Rayman which was multiplatform but alledgedly better on the Wii U...... Sonic didn't had much of a chance...... I would have been mad at Nintendo if I was SEGA, in fact, it is possible that it was SEGA who requested DKTF to be delayed

if you compare to the golden SEGA times? it's worse
comparing to the previous gen SEGA? it's getting better on home consoles and a little worse on handhelds(loved the Sonic Rush games and many other games made or published by SEGA in the DS)

Sega published some of my favourite games of the last gens (more if you include remakes). I think they are less prolific catering for me but they will still pull off some of the best games. Every Sonic game has disappointed me but their racing and shooting games have always been my cup of tea. It makes me laugh that Wii Sports ruled the last generation and it was effectively the minigame collection from Super Monkey Ball 2 just with Miis and Wiimotes!

HotD Overkill - best soundtrack in a game since the SNES era
Mad World - violence and stylish graphics
earlier:
Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2
Virtua Tennis
MSR
too many to mention

You have to look at Sega as a whole. The have acquired some great studios over past couple years with Atlus being most recent. Of course they are doing better and going in right direction. We just need Sega to be the bold company that it used to be and take risk that no one else would...then again that also hurt them too.

Aww Artwark, don't worry. All of us know that you're in love with Sonic Boom, so don't be in denial.

I'm sure Nintendo and Sega's relationship is fine. Don't forget that Sonic games still sell really well on Nintendo systems so even if the next sonic game went multiplatform it would still most likely end up on Wii U. Plus one of Sega's best selling franchise is the Mario & Sonic Olympic games so if they wanna keep making those they gotta stay on Nintendo's good side. I also don't see why they would remove Sonic from future smash bros games since its basically free advertising, any company would be mad not to want their character in that game.

I think they've stayed about the same since they went into 3D rendered games. I think Sonic Boom looks better than Lost World, TBH.

I think Sega revived some of their old franchises, they would be pretty good. A new Ristar, Skies of Arcadia, and Jet Set Radio would be cool, IMO.

I'd like to see that, but Sega has tried over and over to revive IPs and make their franchises popular and they almost always fail. Phantasy Star is practically the one exception to this rule. That said, I'd be incredibly happy to see a new Ristar or Jet Set Radio (sadly never played Skies of Arcadia...) and I would root for their success if they're good.

Also, just had an awesome idea. Get one of the new beat-em-up devs (Dragon's Crown or Scott Pilgrim vs. The World immediately comes to mind) and get them to make a new Golden Axe. That would be AWESOME.

Ya see, I'd rather have an RPG than a beat 'em up. I have Scott Pilgrim for my PS3, which I ironically bought from a PS+ deal. People are so wrong to judge me about how I feel about PS

Oh well... Here's to hoping that Sega can make Nintendo's consoles their own. I think Nintendo partnering with Sega was a VERY good idea.

They're more or less the same way they've been for years. I guess having Atlus makes them better now though.

My feelings about SEGA are quite conflicted. Those warm feelings when I'm playing Rhythm Thief, Project Diva, or a classic Sonic title keeps them at the top of my publishers list. Then I think about the mixed bag of broken mechanics and half baked ideas that is currently the Sonic franchise and how useless they are with localization and how they stupidly killed Eternal Champions and then I don't totally mind if they happened to die the next day.

Better.
They still have no clue what to do with Sonic's mainline games but they have made big strides in provide games for PC gamers. They also acquired Atlus which has a pretty loyal fan base. They aren't what they once were but its an improvement from where they were a few years ago.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

Sega is making plenty of games I want. Problem is they are all Arcade games.

Border Break
K.O. Drive
Operation G.H.O.S.T

I am still playing the PC version of Sonic Generations. (Still think I can do better on the speed of getting through levels without dying).
