Third times the charm I suppose.
Maybe the rumours will be right this time.
It would be interesting to see an "iPad Mini" though. The display on it should be amazing. (assuming they're keeping the resolution the same as the current iPad.)
If you ask me, iOS devices are somewhat overpriced, but only in certain places. In Australia the 4S's 3G 64GB model cost $1000! That's way too much for a phone, even with that much memory... It's the reason I haven't picked one up yet... Although I have no idea what the price is now. I'm just waiting for the 5 to launch.
At that point why wouldn't you just get an iPhone that fits in your pocket? Or a tablet/computer that doesn't force you to buy apps or jailbreak the device?

If by "jailbreak" you mean dropping it multiple times, then because that's too expensive

I really think the reason Apple decided to make this, given it is true, because the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire are really good tablets at a much more affordable price. In order to stay relevant in the tablet business, Apple has to offer more choices at different prices.
Tablets, laptops and phones are really expensive here in Thailand too, even the Asian brands yet despite the low wage everyone seems to have a smart phone except me and I'm Scottish

In order to stay relevant?
That phrase doesn't apply to a market leader that nearly has a monopoly, its share is so high.
Apple's just driving all competition away with this move. It's in no danger of becoming irrelevant.
I do think that sales could decline for Apple with more affordable tablets that can do the same if not more coming out. I know that many people get turned off by the iPad's $500 price tag and prefer to go with a cheaper tablet. Apple will always be on top but I think that making that smaller iPad would leave no room for competition.
