I'm not sure why the owners of the site have suddenly decided to turn it into a "progressive" activism blog (ala Polygon, Kotaku, Resetera), but after nothing like this for about a decade, we've now had about 4-5 articles along these lines in about 3 weeks. It seems like a clear deliberate change in direction and nature of the site, and it's not one that I can get onboard with.
I considered just ignoring it, given that it's only a handful of articles, but ultimately I think when you're a serial poster like I am (who invests quite a bit of time and energy into the sites and forums I'm part of), it is quite important to me that I only contribute to sites where I agree with the general ethos and culture they're promoting. Voting with your feet and wallet is always something I've advocated for.
For me, that doesn't really involve pushing any kind of political activism into entertainment/fiction (even when I happen to agree with it). I hated it when conservative christians did this stuff in the 90s, I hated it when the pro-war "patriots" did this in the 2000s in response to 9/11 (recall they were the people who canceled 6 Days in Fallujah the first time around), and I hate it now that it's the so-called "progressive" activists doing it (I don't consider encouraging people to identify primarily based on their skin colour to be progressive in any way, hence the quotation marks)
Anyway, just thought I'd say my goodbyes to all the people I've enjoyed talking to here over the years. This has been by far one of the better internet forums I've been a member of. Special kudos to the moderators Octane, Eel and Joey (sure I'm missing some others?), who I assume aren't actually paid to do this. I hope they don't replace you with Resetera-style Inquisitors anytime soon. I'll maybe check back in with the site in about 3 years time, to see how things have progressed (or deteriorated), but for the forseeable future this will be my last post on the forum.
@Dezzy I agree with you but for the moment i am on the ignore those posts to not giving it clicks (but unfortunately they are the most commented by far so it is working for them...)
Farewell and hope you may change your mind in the future.
@Dezzy If it's about gay people, I've known couple friends that hid it when I knew them in college. Later on, another was mid 30s still too terrified to tell their parents who they are. I don't wish that struggle on anyone.
Anyway, that's not a judgement. Just my experience. Stay cool @Dezzy.
To be honest, I'm kinda surprised by the storm that those articles brought up. Whilst I personally enjoyed them and didn't think they stirred the pot, I didn't think people would actually be that bothered by them. I know some people disagree but I thought people would simply ignore them and move on.

I don't think it's particularly narcissistic to create this thread. Long-standing user leaving due to perceived change in vibe is of interest to others.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@gcunit Isn't there already a thread for that thought? For leaving or taking breaks?

I actually kind of understand you. This site has been going downhill for me rather quickly over the past few weeks/months. If I weren't so attached to NintendoLife's Youtube personas (Alex, Zion and Jon) I may have already left myself aswell.
Anyway, best of luck to you.
@Dezzy I get ya, mate. Nintendo games are about fun. Fun video games. That don't need the weight of society's problems on their shoulders. Because they can be enjoyed by everyone. Have fun
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@Dezzy I'd love to be an inquisitor, but the Star Wars kind.
You're always free to join the Switch thread over at PushSquare if you want my opinion on how bad Breath of the Wild 2 is going to be.
About the articles, all I can say is that you don't have to read them, but they probably generate a lot of traffic, so that's why they're there I think. But maybe I'm wrong.
@Octane Will the recent Activision news be published on PushSquare, or is it us happy go lucky Nintendofans that get it? I mean, it's far more pertinent over there anyhoo!

@Octane just to be clear, it's the opposite. Despite a larg(er) number of comments (from a vocal few, I may add) they don't generate a lot of traffic, nor is that the intention for publishing them. The intention is to make more people aware of the issues other people face.
