Hello everyone, I have always liked to play videogames, but I want something more, I want to create them. And no, im not talking about Wario Ware DIY, im also not talking about the game "Create", Im talking about a have I have just finished, it took me 3 months of hard work, but today im finally done!!! I have made these game with the lite version Game Maker 8.0. The game is called "The Shape of the Universe" it has his own story and everything. It is a 2d not scrolling platforming game, I wanted to do a different platformer from the original formula. These game manages to put some action - shooting platformer with some observe and puzzle elements, the game is a little bit short, but oh god, making it was very hard. Anyways im not trying to do a Mario Bros, im just trying to make a fun platforming for everyone to enjoy!!!
I hope you like it, and please post some constructive comments, suggestions and ideas about the game, so that the next time I can do a better game . So yeah, I hope you enjoy playing it, I will make a trailer about the game later and will post the link here.
Edit: I want to known how you find the Art-Style of the game.
That was cool, I love the art style, and damn that yellow spiked enemy is annoying. I was surprised you put a boss! It has a good pattern of bullets. I think though you could change the jump button closer to the shooting one. Where did you get the music from? I have Game Maker too but I can never make any plat formers because I can't make the character jump with functions. I can't use code...
Edit: I forgot to mention there's a glitch with the boss, it's an error pop up but you can click ignore. Damn Level 2 is hard...
@KaiserGX, Im glad you liked the game, the further lvls are more difficult and involve puzzles and you will also need to analyze the level first. You will find invisible platforms, ladder and well, more things. Ive got all the music from YoYo games resources, there you can find tons of sound and background MIDIS. I did not use codes for anything , I need to learn how to use them anyways. You can find at YoYo games some tutorials of how to do platforms/shooters/maze game and for the most advanced ones also multiplayer games, 3D games and FPS. But you can aslo find some nice tutorials on youtube
Edit: Yeah if a glitch appear, just ignore it, haha
Great game! Funny you should make a thread like this as I am currently in the process of making a game on the same program. Its a long way until its finished though...
Congratulations! Witnessing the birth or your very own (game) can be a wonderful time in your life (and less hassle labor of love).
PS. Who was the other game? How do you feel, raising a game on your own? ...or is improper to ask this for fear of your little one experiencing emotions of rejection.
You mean, finding coins in the everglades? Its a game I have done for a english project, it was supposed to be a PP presentation, but id rather made a game.
But I didn't start making real games intill High School, in my Game design class.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
You really gotta work on the bullet patterns on the first boss. Most of the bullets are unavoidable, and that's not a good thing.
I know that most of the bullets are unavoidable, but there is always a "sfae spot"between both bullet lines, anyways they don't make much damage, so you should not try to avoid ALL of them.
As I have said I wanted to do a trailer of the game and publish it on youtube, but can't find a good recording system, fraps 99 record all the screen and not just the game... so any recommendations?

But then there are bullets with seemingly random patterns that are unavoidable that DO do a lot of damage, and that's just cheap.
