Topic: Games you buy multiple times

Thread idea totally ripped off from GoNintendo

So while I sometimes complain about people deciding to buy games they already own instead of games they don't, I do have to admit I've done the same thing so I think it might be fun to discuss games you've bought multiple times. Maybe include remakes but mostly examples of literal ports of games you already own you decided to buy again because reasons.

I own Balloon Fight on Wii, 3DS and Wii U virtual console. Granted, one of those were free and one was 30 cents but still, who needs 3 copies of Balloon Fight (if I still had my original Animal Crossing file, it would be 4).

I kinda own lots of Metroid since Metroid can be unlocked in both Prime and Zero Mission.

But the main example is Kirby's Adventure. So I owned the game when I was young but after my NES was thrown out I sold them or something. I bought Nightmare in Dreamland, the remake, when it was new. Then I bought a used second copy, thinking I lost my first copy (I think I eventually sold one of these copies). Then I bought it on the Wii VC because I wanted to compare the original to the remake. Then I got it as another 30 cent Wii U game and realized I didn't love the game as much as I used to. But because I blame a lot of that on the slowdown, I decided to recently buy the 3D version on 3DS.

I would buy Harvest moon:A wonderful life(Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life too) multiple times if they ever came to the wiiU(or NX) virtual console.

I also bought the original pokemon ranger over 4 times because I sold it and bought it again over and over and I dont even know why(I have an urge to go buy it again)

I have 3 copies of Metal Gear Solid 3. 360 version with the HD collection, Vita version, and the 3DS version. No regrets.
I own the Pokemon Trading Card Game on both cart and 3DS. Also the case for many other VC games (most of which came free of charge thanks to the Ambassador Program).
I have 2 copies of Wind Waker, but that's because of the Mario Kart 8 promotion.
I have the Ocarina of Time Master Quest version and the 3DS version.
I have Need for Speed: Most Wanted on Wii U and Vita.

I'm sure there's others I'm missing. Having a portable version is always something that I think about if I really like the game.

I've bought FF7 at least 5 times: the original PS1 release; years later, the greatest hits release on PS1; the original PC release with the weird trapezoid box; the PSOne classics version for my Vita; and more recently on Steam during a Summer sale.

I'll probably buy it again on my PS4 once it's re-released on there as well.

I regret nothing. One of my all-time favorite games.

Sadly, I haven't bought the same game multiple times.

As close as I've come is having Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on the GameCube, PC, and GBA. I only have the PC version now, though...

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I'm on YouTube.

I bought 2 copies of DKC 3 GBA (lost it), SMB3 GBA (one was $4), and KH 3D (lost it )

I have bought Monster Hunter 2 and MH3 three times each, to play them on different systems. (PSP retail & digital [for the Vita] and iOS for MH2 and Wii, 3DS and WiiU for MH3)

I have multiple copies of several VC games too, some even in retail form.

And well... I'm a Pokemon fan, so... Yeah.

Edit:

And several Final Fantasies I own for different systems.

Oh... Plants vs Zombies too, I have it for iPad, iPhone, DSiWare and 360.

Edit 2:

As for identical games I have bought several times, there's Pokemon Blue. My brother lost my cartridge, so my dad bought me a second copy, even though Yellow was in the same store I still wanted blue.

And Pokemon White 2, I thought I had lost my original copy so I bought a second hand one.

I also have two Animal Crossing Wild Worlds, but one was a gift from a friend.

Finally, I have New Super Mario Bros for the DS twice, because one came bundled with a DSLite.

It's mostly classic games I tend to rebuy when there's been a digital re-release or a remaster or remake.

I repurchased most of my physical PS1 games as PSOne classics. Mostly for convenience because then I can play them on my PSP or Vita.

The only game I can think of that I have ever got two copies of the same version on the same system is Dragon Quest IX. That was because it only has one save file (grr) and I don't want to delete my original save when I eventually replay it.

I'm quite happy to rebuy a game if the previous method of playing it has become awkward. I don't have the space around/connections on the back of my TV to easily hook up an N64 or a PS2 these days, so will gladly buy up Virtual Console or PSN versions of the games I really love so I can easily play them. A lot of older PC games also fall into this category, like the recent re-releases of Grim Fandango and the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games.

Although it's easy to play PS1 discs on a PS3 hooked up to a modern TV still, I have amassed a rather large collection of digital PSOne Classics when they come up on sale. Usually they're 75-80% off, and I can play them on the PS3 or Vita, and even shift my save files back and forth pretty easily, so again I don't mind spending a couple of pounds to rebuy them.

It's sad how many versions of FF1, 2 and 4 they suckered me into buying. Even 3 they got me on.
Probably just about every "unique" console version you could imagine. (even including the JP 3DS versions, but not including MSX FF1 or any phone versions)

If you don't include things like the Pokemon games, or Smash Wii U/3DS, and include only the exact same game so no remasters (though I can't think of any remaster of a game that I've already owned that I've bought) I'd say it's quite limited for me. A few obvious ones come to mind like Super Mario Bros, which I got as an Ambassador on 3DS and on Super Mario All Stars, but it terms of actually buying a game twice, the only one that comes to mind is Shovel Knight due to a cross buy promotion they did.

I don't think I've ever purchased a game multiple times. Usually playing a game once to completion is enough for me, and then I move on. I've never lost a game either so that's another reason.

Not much really. I own both Metroid Zero Mission and Minish Cap in cartridge form but I've bought them on the WiiU VC too, just to see how they looked on the GamePad/TV screen. Same for Zelda II, which I have as VC download and GBA NES Classic cartridge.

I own Bayonetta on both PS3 and WiiU. The PS3 version obviously I got first, long before it was announced for WiiU (I wouldn't have bought it had I known). But the one that pisses me off the most is Pullblox. I got it the day it came out (2011) and I hated it to death. Shortly after that, I gave my 3DS away to a friend of mine and I got a 3DS XL. Then a few years passed and I totally forgot I had already played and hated it, so I accidentally got it again (Jan.2014) and hated it even more. Then one day I was at my friend's house (xmas 2014) toying with my former 3DS (now hers) and noticed the Pullblox icon, and only then I realized I bought the same game twice and hated it both times.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
