I've seen people arguing about it all over the internet, and I was wondering. which do you like more? Fallout 3 or Oblivion? (I personally prefer Fallout 3)

I found Fallout 3 bleak and buggy. Oblivion was lush and lots of fun. Also, Oblivion was out a good two yours before Fallout 3 so should win by default.
I played both on PC and couldn't imagine playing them on teh stinky consoles.
55%Fallout and 45% Oblivion. My biggest gripe about Oblivion is the scaling difficulty based on character level and not location. It's the only thing wrong with that game imho. With that being said, they're BOTH phenomenal games and you will most definately get your money's worth out of them.
Yep they both are worth every single penny and i regret not buying the collectors edition for both. But Fallout New Vegas, oh yea im buying the collectors edition.
If i had to choose....Fallout 3 despite the bugs. I just enjoyed it so much, hell its in my ps3 as i'm typing this. I really like the feel of both games Bethesda hit the sweet spot on these titles.

Fallout 3 was indeed bleak and buggy, as Machu says, but I relished the bleakness (I thought it was handled extraordinarily well, and it makes the few brief reprieves from bleakness--Oasis, some of the vaults, and not much else--desperately refreshing) and was, for the most part, able to overlook the bugs in favor of a strong and compelling gameplay experience.
Oblivion was loads of fun, but not really my thing. I can appreciate it for what it is, but I found the towns a little samey and the fighting a little tedious. It's a game that gets my full respect, but only got a few dozen hours of my playtime. Fallout 3 I've spent god knows how long with, and I'm going to start a new character soon to enjoy the DLC that I intentionally skipped the first time.
Oblivion gets my respect, but Fallout gets my love.
My opinion on the matter is skewed by the fact that I bought a brand new video-card specifically to play Oblivion, which at the time, with high-end specs, was like nothing I had seen before. It actually looked better back then, than it does on the HD consoles now.
I never finished Fallout 3, I got tired of reloading saves. I take great issue with developers who release incomplete games. Shame really, cos it was looking pretty good.
Oblivion just for some reason I couldnt connect with. I love the Medevil settings and the enviroments were great, but I just couldnt connect with it. Though at the time I really wasnt into this sort of gaming, and now I prob should grab a copy at some point and give it another go. I had the same problem with its prequel Morrowind.
Fallout 3 was just an all out awesome game. The lands were so dark and dreary and the characters just fit the settings perfectly. I got so hooked on Fallout 3 and dropped right at 125 hrs into and loved it. The DLC is a bunch of buggy BS though!

Really, we aren't comparing two games here we're comparing six, as they seem to have their own little traits on each format. The OP needed to be more specific.
I would say I enjoyed Oblivion more but Fallout 3 is the better game. I prefer the medieval setting (though Fallout pulled off everything very well) and I liked how huge everything was. What I didn't like was the leveling which was nothing like Morrowind where you could actually fight monsters that were too strong for you. I also didn't like the lack of variety in dungeons and the random items hidden everywhere. I though they should have really had a lot more specific decent items in more of the sidequests. Oblivion was a lot more ambitious so it's no surprise Fallout 3 was more refined. While Oblivion was amazing when I started playing I found Fallout 3 had fewer flaws.
There was a leveling mod I downloaded for the PC version of Oblivion which made everything much more enjoyable. There were some other mods too which really spiced the game up. The problem is knowing which ones to install.
I want fallout 3, because from what I saw of it, it's pretty much a perfectly accurate map of DC. I really just want to blow up my old office building for catharsis, so fallout 3 wins for me.

Oblivion! Especially with the shivering isles DLC. I used to play Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 for years, and when I played Oblivion I was instantly addicted.

Its weird, I put in nearly 100 hours on Fallout 3 and never had one bug in that whole time, and that's the honest truth. Then again,I was playing the superior 360 version I also preferred the levelling system in Fallout 3 ,yes it made the game easier but there was a greater sense of progression. When you started out Super Mutants and the like would have you running away like a big girl but after about level 10/11 you started to feel like a real bad a** wandering the wastelands.Plus VATS is one of the best combat mechanics I think I've ever used,so satisfying. I did play Fallout 3 before Oblivion though and must admit to never finishing Oblivion (I'll get round to it). Its definitely an enjoyable romp its just that I've had my fill of Tolkien-esque worlds TBH and Fallout 3 felt really fresh to me (Never played a Fallout game before). One of my favourite games of all time. Both games seem endlessly re-playable too so both are definitely worthy of some attention.
I never found any game breaking bugs in either game. I did find some graphical glitches in both, but nothing I couldn't deal with
In Fallout 3, I actually ran into a cool bug not that long ago. I shot off the head of a townsperson in Megaton only to have them stand back up a second later, walk around and talk pleasantly to me with their head missing and their necking spurting blood the whole time. Now that's nightmare fuel right there.
