Apparently the same people who brought the C64 games to the Wii VC have decided to create the C64 Mini. It's fun to look at, but with only 64 games included and a price of £69.99/$69.99/€79.99 it seems rather steep. They also plan to release a full sized fully working version in 2018, but whether or not it'll have the same price tag and amount of games I do not know. Anyway, check it out at: https://thec64.com/
Pre-SNES/Megadrive era o can't get interested in retro games I never played at the time, and I never had a C64, so I'm not hyped for this, but I'll try and take a peek at some point.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@Meowpheel True, it does sound like a lot, but if I had to sit down I could compile a list of C64 games larger than that. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised that even with the age of these games they still have to get permission from some publishers to add their games.
The one thing I do like is the joystick that comes with it. I went through a lot of those in my time, mainly due to sports games. I still remember the satisfying clicks
If I'm not mistaken, there was a C64 plug and play console a while ago - it was pretty decent from what I heard, it was a proper C64 chip inside of a joystick that connected to the TV via AV cable and had 30 games and was way cheaper, at least at the time of release.
NES Mini side-effects - nowadays you can rebrand all the plug & play consoles with MINI next to the name and charge 3 times as much for them!!
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
I remember seeing an article back in the day about it too. Fortunately there's a wiki page on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C64_Direct-to-TV. There are plenty of games on it that I definitely enjoy, though of course since it's no longer produced its price has gone up.
Both are missing some of my favorite games though. The last ninja series, Wizard of Wor, Racing Desctruction Set, Turbo (Super) Charge, Flimbo's Quest to name a few. Of course, as with any compilation package like that, they're bound to run into licensing issues.
It's a fun little system and I think it has some strong nostalgia for some people who most likely don't even play games anymore. There's probably a small market for it.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Who knows, if you're lucky it has the loading times of the original hardware Of course, some games were released on cartridge (What? No cartridge slot?). I actually had Last Ninja Remix and Badlands on cartridge. I actually never owned a C64, but rather a C128D, but it spend more time in C64 mode. Of course, the build in disk drive was a nice bonus.
@GrailUK Better yet, add it to the Switch Online service!
I have to imagine this appeals to people who had one back in the day, but I have gone and tried a couple of the games before and was not impressed. Pre-NES/Master Drive stuff just doesn't pull me in that much.
