I made my annual NBA 2K for $5 purchase earlier this month, but I haven't tried it out yet. My son got Dragon Ball FighterZ, and I was surprised at how good that game is. It's graphically impressive - everything is a solid 60 fps, and the character models and animations are awesome, and I'm not really a DB fan. It controls really well too, and the movesets for each character allow for a decent amount of strategery. It's been around a while, so you've probably already tried it out, but if you haven't and you like fighters like the Street Fighter games, this might be up your alley.
Recently finished: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Splatoon 3: Side Order, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
Currently playing: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
What's next: ?
Last game I bought was Luigi's Mansion 2 HD but I'm not buying any now since I'm on holiday and only have access to one console, which I've already ammassed a big backlog for. I have bought a 512 GB card though.
@Tyranexx Knew you'd buckle eventually, it's a must-buy for any self-confessed Nintendo fan.
Can't lie, the gameplay doesn't hold up well and the combat's pretty boring sometimes but it's a cute little game in it's own right.
Recently got Princess Peach Showtime and Pikmin 4 from Shoppers Drug Mart with Optimum points, and I got a sealed copy of Mario RPG from an amazon warehouse deal while it was on sale for a very good price.
@jedgamesguy I'm interested in revisiting the game to see how it has changed, though I am aware it's even easier lol. No nostalgia here, but I did play the SNES original (Well, technically emulated) on the Virtual Console several years ago. I thought it was a pretty fun game, and the remake fixes my main complaint from it: the visuals.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
Alright - just bought Dragon's Dogma using gold points, spent $0.23 on it with 10 hours left in the sale . Just this weekend I started replaying Dark Souls, as I quit it YEARS ago. Dang, it's addicting. Frustrated that I'm enjoying it so much...BUT, it put me in the right mindset to give this game a chance... and the great recommendations in this thread.
@GeneralFulbright thank you, really appreciate the recommendation! I missed this sale, but it looks like it regularly drops to $5, picking it up next time.

Can't speak from experience playing the original at all, I've only seen some gameplay and listened to some music from the SNES after all but it looks fine as far as remakes go. Interesting how they've remade / made new games in all three Mario RPG styles, from the original to the Mario & Luigi games plus Paper Mario, definitely to see what direction they go in the future.
One thing they've really got right in these remakes is the music, they've gone above and beyond, especially in Paper Mario. RPG's has some nice moments, the music gets more intense as you charge the gauge, but it's mainly 1:1.
@jedgamesguy I like that Nintendo appears to be testing the waters as far as Mario RPGs go. Hopefully the great reception for two remade classics and a new entry in a series thought dead will show the company that there is some room still for classic turn-based elements. Not to say I don't like the modern entries I have played, but The Origami King's combat grew old for me after two hours. What's crazy is I like puzzles, but not with insane time limits...and not ones where matching is poor to non-existent.
Yoko Shimomura's OG soundtrack for Super Mario RPG is superb. While I've intentionally heard very little of the remake's tunes, the jazzed up music does sound promising so far!

Another successful month of emptying my bank account in the pursuit of Switch physical collection nirvana.
Life Is Strange: Arcadia Bay Collection - missed this when it was cheaper a year or two ago, got fed up waiting/looking for a reasonably priced used copy so just bit the bullet and went new.
Return To Monkey Island - ditto. Originally had my fingers hovering over the Limited Run Games purchase button for several weeks, but held off in the hope that (a) there would surely be a general retail release, or (b) a Monkey Island collection would be announced. I'm still expecting a collection sometime in the future, but I've given up hope for the Switch generation, so bit another, even bigger, bullet.
Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom - released at a time I wasn't devouring Switch physicals quite as much and I paid it little attention, but it just looks so nice, and I found a new copy for a reasonable price.
The Legend Of Nayuta: Boundless Trails Deluxe - finally came down in price recently to a level I was happy with.
Quake - already have Quake II physically so been wanting to complete the set.
Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection - avoided this at release due to the relatively high price, but I've anyways wanted it, if mostly just because I have every other Etrian Odyssey release and wanted to maintain 100%, but I'm also looking forward to seeing the differences for myself.
Baba Is You - been meaning to pick this up for a while, but it was the news about the final entry on this list not getting a European release that pushed me into finally submitting a Fangamer order for the both of them...
Omori - knowing that I wanted to order Baba Is You, just got the impulse to add this to the order should it become harder to find. No doubt that means some UK retailer will now import a bunch and sell it cheaper, but hey-ho.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
Got five Capcom Arcade Classics on a whim yesterday. They're half off for $1 each.
Ghouls and Goblins
SF Alpha 2
Powered Gear - Strategic Variant Armor Equipment
CYBERBOTS - FULLMETAL MADNESS
Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix
Powered Gear is awesome. Super fun beat em up.
I'm really enjoying Pocket Fighters too. I've always been horrible at fighting games except Smash Bros, so I actually really like the relative simplicity. Still hard for me though haha.
