@NEStalgia No other electric blades? That's... almost impressive.
Time to grind for commons, I guess. You need to kill bunches of krabbles. Salvage at the docks in Mor Ardain with normal cylinders and fail the QTE's. This'll increase your likelihood of pulling up krabbles, which usually drop common cores. Parse through these and you'll inevitably stumble upon electric blades before too long.
Have the character with the most compassion open them, as the compassion idea levels affect your likelihood of opening ice and electric blades. Don't be afraid to abuse your supply of compassion boosters.
@Ralizah I've had over 100 commons...80 or so currently. I spend and spend and all i get is water, dark, more water then done more water. I have like 3 fire, 3 Earth, 2 light, 2 wind 10 dark, 10 water... Not a single electric, not a single ice. It's getting infuriating. Just an rng grind then?
@NEStalgia You can use the boosters to increase the chances of certain types. It's been a while so I can't remember off the top of my head which one buffs electric chances, but I do know one does.

@NEStalgia Make sure whoever you're opening them on isn't heavily skewed on some idea level other than compassion. So, that, boosters, and pray to RNJesus, I guess.

How does one get boosters? I had 3 for compassion.... Used them all... Got..... Dark. That's all i ever get, water and dark. Rex is 4,4,4,5.... So Justice is his Max but that's the best I've got. Without more boosters i guess u just bond all 80 crystals hoping one is lightening?
@NEStalgia One can get Boosters through just checking which Booster you'll get when you turn in Scraps / Treasures thingy that you got from Salvaging at those certain Vendors (Actually, that's the best way to get money too). Forgot the exact words, but I hope it's understandable?
Also I'm surprised at Chapter 8 you are only at 4,4,4,5... At that time I already reached 7-ish average hue. How about Nia and the others though? Maybe some of them have higher Compassion? (Unless you didn't train their commons at all).
@NEStalgia Which one? Level 9 mastery or level 4 mastery? If the level 9 one, you're going the wrong way whereas for the level 4 one, use the advice others have provided.
@NEStalgia I got boosters when I let my blades go, a lot of the time. I always had them topped off because I would keeping weeding out the ones without good field skills.
It's pretty weird you're having so much trouble finding electric blades. I never found myself facing any particular shortage of them.

@TheLZdragon To be fair, if you ever tried to send that particular blade on a Merc Mission, under certain conditions you might have found that out earlier! The "surprise" had been spoilt for me long before completing the quest.
Disregarding expansions, I think I have all the blades bar two now: Dagas and Kos-Mos. I'm somewhere in Chapter 8. Anyone else found these to be among their last blades? Zenobia, Newt and Ursula were pretty late for me, too. From what I gather, these are among the rarer of rare blades.

It's pretty clear that some rare blades are more rare than others. I think Zenobia, Newt, Dagas, Kos-Mos and Ursula are among them. I'm coming up to 200 hours, on my first playthrough, but I have more or less run out of sidequests now and will mostly have to focus on the story from now on - until I get those last two blades.
@darkfenrir Actually I'm in Chapter 9, where the electric check gate is. And rex is one of the highest characters at 4,4,4,5. Nia's one level higher but is 4,3,3,3 . Z is 7,4,4,4 I think.
See this is what happens when a game creates too many systems and explains none of them, you don't use them and they languish.
I've been spamming merc missions with all of them much as I can, Uraya's at 3 stars, everywhere else at 1 or 2....new missions seem slow to appear, I've been grinding repeat missions since I've either maxed, or don't have a blade for some of them. Most of the commons have their affinities maxed. (Not the story ones.....stupid chests in Bana's room..... )
@Grumblevolcano Level 9 check? What on earth requires a level 9 check?!
@darkfenrir Kos-Mos? A Soul Calibur cameo (Bamco did help out on the game after all) or coincidence?
@Ralizah so after I posted here and you guys told me it's just a grindfest, I ground thorugh 25 or so core crystals. Water, dark, water, dark, water water water water water, dark dark dark, light, fire, water water water...... Finally, I get one from the right idea group........annnnnd it's ice (my first ice in the game.) Then the very next one is lightening finally. Then I try Nia, and the first one is lightening again! Then after that, back to dark. But it's weird. Not a single ice/electric up through chapter 9. Then 3 in a row across two characters.
And the kicker is:
@Krull@darkfenrir So about ursula being a rarer rare blade.....after 9 chapters without a single electric or ice blade, while grinding all these crystals to get an electric, the first one of the ice/electric group I get in the entire game.....from a common core crystal no less.......is Ursula......
Now you people tell me I don't have the worst and weirdest luck on earth?
One thing I will say is nowhere did the game describe you were supposed to be raising core crystals like catching wild pokemon. I never got that from the game at all. I mostly ignored the core crystals until after I opened the guild and needed a few more for quests, but I figured they were a system just to make sure you have a few elements to switch between for each character....maybe 5 or 6 per character at most, and to have enough for merc missions. Not until I got locked at the Elpys check gate and you guys explained affinities and it became clear that I was supposed to be "catching 'em all"....never even crossed my mind once prior. This series could be a top selling A-lister if they'd just polish the thing rather than leaving quirky outdated odds and ends.
@NEStalgia Holy [removed], that's so weird o_O (also to raise the rank of the Titan, just buy and sell massive amount of that thing... you use for salvaging. I keep forgetting what it's called). Just do it buy 100 -> sell 100 and do it again and again, should max it up in no time (idk what it's for, but it's nice).
I feel like so weird that by that time I nearly max everything I need and was cruising nearly every gatecheck except the ones that need [Element x Lv9 or 12] or something (I forgot the ones I need for Zenobia's quest, but I managed to finish it when I play after finishing the game, so yeah.
Also Ursula is one of the BEST Healer Blade in the game because of her 40% instant heal if you switch to her, not bad for using because she's Fist, and she has decent damage too, one of the best all rounder I ever use! The only bad thing? To use her decently you'll have her leading a merc quest until she reached 5th line (well you can stop at 4th but why stop there). Definitely have fun with doing her merc quest though, it's awesome to max all of those common blades
@darkfenrir Yeah, for me, I skip half the affinity check things in the game as I'm always missing something (and I'm tired of looking online to find out what everyone's favorite food/instrument/book is to upgrade their affinities. And the one time I go to send a story blade on a merc mission to level her up....it's Pandy and can't be removed..... )
Ahh, from Xeno Saga cameoing in Soul Calibur, back to appearing in Xeno games....makes sense. I knew her only from SC and Project X Zone (the 3DS crossover mashup of pretty much every Sega/Bamco/Capcom/Koei fighter into an SRPG....made by.....Monolith.... )
Her and Godfrey are the only rare blades I have. But yeah I think I'll start spamming merc missions for them....might take some time. Shame she's tied to Rex and not Nia for healing (I still can't imagine not using Nia as a healer given the damage numbers in the game....) but I might swap out Roc for her. Wulfric can be pretty cool, but Roc I swear is so useless (maybe he becomes top tier when you max him, but it takes so long with the merc mission pace. Plus he's kind of a mandatory HM slave. Which is infuriating.
