@MarioBrickLayer@Apportal_SMM2 I think if they do a Pro it needs to be 2021. That would buy them a few years for the Switch successor and get some sales from people who want to upgrade a bit. Otherwise, in my humble opinion, they would be better served to cut the price on the current models to increase sales when the new Sony and Microsoft consoles launch and just start working on the next Switch.
With timelines getting pushed back due to COVID, the best course of action may be to keep things as is for 2020. Cut the Lite price to $150 and regular to $200 while releasing a Pro for $300 in 2021. Have some Pro special editions in 2022. Release the successor in 2023.

@tzahn I absolutely respect your opinion. This discussion is just for a Switch lol, it’s okay to have opinions. Thanks for responding so professionally and stating your opinion humbly. 😀
I of course, would want more battery life, a special disc slot in the back to play Wii games because the Switch has gyro controls already. NO DRIFT!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe a bit more fps....
@Apportal_SMM2 Definitely, I like the discussion. All that being said, if they release a Pro version and it's BoTW2 themed I would buy that in a heartbeat haha.

Nintendo isn't going to cut the price on a platform that just sold 21 million units last fiscal year.
Not this Holiday, not in 2021, and probably not in 2022 either.
The Switch is selling faster than Nintendo can produce them.

@Magician They won't cut the price now, agreed. They will absolutely cut the price as sales number fall, which will inevitably happen as the life cycle of the console progresses..

You just suggested Nintendo cut Switch prices in four months when PS5 and Xbox SX launch.

@Magician You're right, my statement wasn't clear. I didn't necessarily mean an immediate price cut, especially since the new consoles may have some stock issues for the first few months. The price cut would make more sense if a new Pro model is released or when sales of the current model start to drop. I meant that a price cut would be a way to generally compete with the new consoles, not that they should cut it in four months.

All I want in a Switch Pro or Switch 2 is more of what made the original Switch amazing. Its central "gimmick" (the switching) was so well done, that I don't think I could ever go back to a console that doesn't have that functionality. I don't like being a prisoner to my TV in a designated room, which I think is a big reason why my Switch is getting so much more use than my other consoles have traditionally gotten.
I'll also cast my vote with everyone else for more reliable controllers. I use the Joy-Cons every day and have no problem with them, but I hate how untrustworthy they are. Nintendo fixes them for free and has a pretty quick turnaround, but you almost have to own a second pair a pro controller if you want to continue to play every day during that time.
@Apportal_SMM2 I think this idea has been talked about a lot but the things for me are:
Slightly larger screen(lose that edge around the actual screen!) with a higher brightness setting and 1080p support.
Native Bluetooth/wireless headphone support.
A second micro SD card slot.
A redesigned dock that's more portable and can double as a tabletop stand for charging while playing outside of TV mode.
A better battery all around.
Oh, and a better kickstand and game card slot cover. Both of those are quite surprisingly fragile and make me nervous using them.
A better wifi antenna would be nice too.
I don't want to see "Switchi/New Switch" exclusive games. Games are made for PC to run on a range of PCs with different specs, I feel we should be able to do that for consoles too. Sony and Microsoft were able to release more powerful versions of their consoles without releasing exclusive games.
I think Nintendo should treat the 3 versions of Switch as a family: Switch Lite as the budget option, Switch as the standard version and Switch Pro as the premium device. Let it cost a little more, but let's get those nicer features that would be harder to justify on a standard or budget device.
I mean thicker, harder, more elastic, less prone to crack plastic.
I mean a plastic that you can drop from a couple of meters without the screen being damaged or edges of plastic splinter off (that's why I referenced Wii U, that should have answered your question in the first place).
The Switch feels put together like it's designed to break, like tablets and smartphones. It's simply a strategy to sell more units and that's a first for Nintendo. I don't want this crappy prone-to-break plastic to be the future of gaming! Switch's plastic even breaks when the battery's getting too hot! That should tell us something.
There's cheap unbreakable plastic: Tons of wrappings for different consumables that you just throw in the trash have it, TUPPA boxes have it, LEGO has it, the Wii U has it. Why does an advanced piece of technology does not have it?
As for your other question, the Switch is no handheld, it's a hybrid and it's the successor of the Wii U and 3DS, and therefore lacking a microphone & camera (among other features) is at least two steps back and zero steps forward.
@Slowdive although that’s a good idea, highly unlikely IMO. I think Nintendo will either do a better version of the Switch, or just release a new console in 2025 or so.
@Slowdive That is my theory, Have the dock with the Switch internals, Cartridge and SD slot and ability to lie down flat and call it the Nintendo Switch XL
Nintendo Switch Lite - Handheld
Nintendo Switch - Hybrid
Nintendo Switch XL - Home Console
As long as it has a better CPU/GPU with more Storage and more RAM while keeping the original form factor of the original Switch (with less Joycon drift) so games would run better I'd be fine. I don't see the reason for making handheld 1080p or making docked support 4K unless it's for videos since all it would do is increase overhead and put us right back where we started, and doesn't the Switch use hardware from 2014-2015 anyway? I don't see why it has to be TV-only when they could just use better hardware to keep both handheld and docked.
