There are rumors floating around that a ‘Switch Pro’ will be releasing next year. That is still far off from now, and it may not even be realeasing In that time, but until then, what would you guy’s want in a Switch Pro Update?
I’d want to see better graphics and a bigger screen. An improved Home screen, and a search option for your games. (If you have a ton of games like me lol) What about you? Feel free to post!
@Apportal_SMM2 Definitely a search feature! I think I have over 200 games now. It takes a long time to go through the software library. But that's something that should happen in a firmware upgrade tp be fair.
All I really want is a more powerful Switch, possibly with a slightly better battery life if it's feasible. A bigger screen would be nice, as long as they don't make the device itself any bigger. There is a pretty big border around the screen on the current model.
@tzahn I doubt that would happen. It would give the Switch a 5 year lifespan and I really don't expect that. Instead, I think we would get a successor around 2024
Any software changes will no doubt reach the older models, so I wont wish for anything that can be achieved with a software update.
Me, I would keep the handheld screen as 720p. There is zero point in having it a higher resolution. However, do increase the screen size. Have it take up more of the bezel without increasing the size of the unit it self to keep it backwards compatible with current Switch docks.
In handheld, I would have it run as powerful as a docked Switch does now, albeit in 720p. Docked it should run more powerful. I wouldn't try to have it output higher then 1080p (there is no point, seriously), which would allow any hardware improvements to have a better impact in performance overall.
Nintendo possibly releasing a Switch Pro in 2021 makes zero sense. It would be better for Nintendo to ride the Switch-gravy train until the Switch's successor is ready to be rolled out in three or four years. That said, I think there's a good chance for Nintendo to add Switch TV to the Switch family of platforms. A TV-only variant, no portability, coming in at $149-$199.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,251 games (as of April 24th, 2024)

@Laoak especially since the Nintendo Switch is so high in sales, I doubt that they’d release one now in fear of their money being lost.
@Magician I like the idea, but I doubt anyone would buy it. If anyone’s interested in the switch, they’ve probably already bought it.
@MsJubilee with Bluetooth? Ohhhh yeah THAT
would make the pro controller worth a freaking 70$
@BenRK you mean, the black box around the actual screen would BECOME the screen? That sounds cool! Thanks for your opinion!
@tzahn they DEFINITELY won’t do it that quick, the switch is one of the best consoles ever, and only getting better! The sales have risen dramatically, if they were to release one their sales loss could cost them money.
@WoomyNNYes For me, better power is more important than FPS. I agree!
Thanks you all for commenting on my post! I’ll respond regularly!
I agree with those saying there shouldn't be a Switch Pro. I'm happy with the Switch I've got and I don't want a mid-generation upgrade that makes the original Switch inferior. Nintendo should just save whatever new technology they're working on for their next console generation.
I'd like OLED screen and more power, not just for frame rate but also resolution can drop severely making games look blurry. Also, good-quality joy-cons and more battery life.
@Apportal_SMM2 How will the sales look in another 2 years? I agree 2022 might be a year early, but if they wait too long they're stuck with declining sales of the current Switch and no secondary system to fall back on like the 3DS/Wii U generation. If they do another hardware refresh like a Pro, then it extends the lifecycle a bit. If they don't, I expect a successor. Nintendo said they believe Switch is in the middle of its lifecycle. If true, that puts the timeline for a Switch successor for 2023. The PS5 and Series X will have been on the market for a few years and probably had a small price cut. The current Switch technology will be very old and 3rd party support may be waning due to that. A price cut on the system may make more sense than a Pro model. Why spend all the R&D money for a half generation upgrade when you could just use that for a successor? Make it backwards compatible and have the first wave of games playable on both Switch and Switch 2. That eases the transition and would have a less detrimental effect on sales.
Love anything Zelda. Most other Ninty franchises too! Purposely vague...

@tzahn I agree with all of your points, but at the same time, if they release it too early, they may lose money, and if they release it too late they may lose money as well. 2022 does seem like a good place to extend the consoles life. 2024 seems far off, and 2021 is too early.
