I thought you were trying to spell out a secret name with the first letters of the words but it turned out to be 'ESWFF'. 😝 So Nintendo ESWFF it is. No context, no spelled-out acronym, just ESWFF. That would be some epic marketing. Imagine all the Nintendo people just acting like it clearly made sense.
Hmm, Nintendo Beyond, in that you can take it portably beyond the home, it iterates, comes next, surpasses and "goes beyond" the current switch in power?
Drawback is its one of those words that sounds corny like this
Just thinking...With few exceptions Nintendo has always made their console names descriptive or just added a single word/symbol to a previous related console. In particular if the new console is a clear upgrade to a previous one, they just tack on a word:
NES - descriptive of general concept
Game Boy - trying to be cutesy
SNES - NES + 'Super'
Virtual Boy - GB + descriptive term
N64 - descriptive of architecture
GBC - GB + descriptive term
GBA - GB + 'advanced'
GameCube - trying to be cutesy
DS - descriptive
Wii - trying to be cutesy
3DS - DS + '3' (3 is semi descriptive)
Wii U - Wii + 'U'
Switch - descriptive
So far they haven't re-used a modifying word, but with this pattern the next console really should be 'word + Switch' or 'Switch + word'. Super, Advanced, 2 all fit the pattern but of course other terms will too and the new word could be more descriptive than just 'advanced'.
This is of course assuming the next console doesn't have a more significant difference from Switch to totally change the name. But so far the portables have been grouped in pretty big 'Boy' and 'DS' families.
