Just thinking...With few exceptions Nintendo has always made their console names descriptive or just added a single word/symbol to a previous related console. In particular if the new console is a clear upgrade to a previous one, they just tack on a word:
NES - descriptive of general concept
Game Boy - trying to be cutesy
SNES - NES + 'Super'
Virtual Boy - GB + descriptive term
N64 - descriptive of architecture
GBC - GB + descriptive term
GBA - GB + 'advanced'
GameCube - trying to be cutesy
DS - descriptive
Wii - trying to be cutesy
3DS - DS + '3' (3 is semi descriptive)
Wii U - Wii + 'U'
Switch - descriptive
So far they haven't re-used a modifying word, but with this pattern the next console really should be 'word + Switch' or 'Switch + word'. Super, Advanced, 2 all fit the pattern but of course other terms will too and the new word could be more descriptive than just 'advanced'.
This is of course assuming the next console doesn't have a more significant difference from Switch to totally change the name. But so far the portables have been grouped in pretty big 'Boy' and 'DS' families.
There were a few clever suggestions in the comments mixed in with all the troll suggestions. 😆 Honestly it's just so hard to guess with Nintendo.
Troll suggestions?! No, I was completely serious when I said Super Nintenso 3DSwitch U Deluxe featuring Dante from Davile May Cry!
OK, in all seriousness, I think a Super Switch branded with a slightly more maroon shade of red would be amazing.
