In the last few years batteries in consumer electronics have improved considerably and have built in over charge protection. Now don't get me wrong I don't know what quality of battery Nintendo are using in the switch but you've got to give them the benefit of the doubt. These big companies put a lot of time and money into R&D and they know if they stick in a crappy component that is insufficient and potentially dangerous (I'm looking at you Samsung) then this will cause the company financial and reputational damage. The Wii U looked like a cheap toy whereas the Switch looks like a premium product so hopefully the tech inside is premium too. Only 1 month to go, can't wait to get my hands on it.

@FragRed I presume there is. Most devices these days stop charging when it's fully charged. So you definitely don't have to worry about that first point. Can't tell you anything about the second one, depends if the AC adapter can bypass the battery or not (this also dictates if you can use it still in docked mode when you battery is dead). Either way, leaving it completely drained isn't good either, but we know that's not the case since they dock also charges the Switch. I assume there's a minimum threshold charge that activates the charging process again once that's reached (usually around 50% to keep the battery in the most optimal condition).

Just 1 month away!!! Can't wait!!!

@FGPackers actually I think you'll find it's less than one month now. Most stores will open at midnight so its actually 27 days 14 hours and 22 minutes. Some people should learn to check their facts before posting on here. I'm really getting the hang of these forums lol

I'm confident that within a month of the Switch coming out there'll be a guide somewhere on the web to how to change the battery yourself. If you don't like the fact that it's not user-friendly then show Nintendo by not buying a Switch.

@Mellor2000 Hype can really make bad things to people, especially for myself. I'm hyped for this new console from maybe...the reveal trailer

Step 1: Void your warranty

note: I don't think the non-removable battery is an issue. But still, it's not going to be as easy as just looking up a guide.

@FGPackers I'm right there with you brother.

I replaced the gamepad battery and loved it. It was dying in three to four hours and monster hunter was still on.

I can see myself drain the switch to a point that I want better battery performance. I'm looking into buying a powerbank this week or the next in order to keep up.

@Whitewatermoose I can see Nintendo holding out till a week or so before the launch before discussing those kinds of things. Especially as some will no doubt get a lot of backlash.

@FGPackers I disagree. We've already got information such as the price of online, prices of accessories, and a list of new launch titles announced through individual announcements, and its probably going to stay that way up until launch.

Got married.

@Nicolai We still don't know a lot about the console, especially on the UI and how it works. They can unleash a lot of info if they want to. I know it is really difficult to happen, but who knows...

Why is it so important to know how the UI works? Nintendo has always had functional, albeit boring UI. I don't think it will deviate to much from "icons in a grid", since that is the standard on pretty much any device today. A presentation on that would be super boring. Have Sony or MS had presentations on the UI, or is this yet another nit-picking?

And for those that think it might be a deal breaker, buy it when you have either tested it or seen a video on it.

@Therad System updates have been part of a fair few Microsoft E3 conferences. It gives the sense across that the company is listening to feedback. Assuming E3 still happens this year, I'm pretty sure the big changes to Xbox Live teased will be revealed then.

@Therad I mean all UI related things. We don't know about the "News" part, the "Album" one too, and lets not forget the eShop. There is a good number of things that we don't how about the UI and the system itself. It was just an example, but we can (should) learn more about the online services to make another one

Therad

In the case of online, you have a point. But we can make some assumptions about it. For example, a subscription is needed for playing online, since this is console standard.
In worst case scenario, we know voice chat will be limited to friends, and only done through smart phone. Lobbies shouldn't be restricted to an app, since not everyone has a smart phone. Would it be a deal breaker for you in this state? If it is, then you can always take a wait and see approach. If it is not a deal breaker, then you can see for yourself when you have bought it.

eShop will have at least nes and SNES games, and we do know it can harbour both retail and smaller titles. I wouldn't assume they have changed all that much from previous gen.

Just because we haven't heard everything (TM), doesn't mean they will do something out of the blue, some predictions can be made.

@Therad I remembered other 3 things that we can expect to know before launch:

1) what are the "exclusive deals" for online subscriptions and how they work (just to say another point about online services)
2) eventual achievements?
3) -can even be related to n°2?- how (and if) will My Nintendo be connected to Switch

I mean, there are a lot of points that Nintendo HAS to cover before launch. There are things still TOO much vague. Not that i'm worried about it, it's just that i would like to know more. And if we have to learn this kind of things launching the system on March 3rd it can be a little bit disappointing from a PR perspective, simple as that

I'm actually putting in effort to try to preorder this darn thing. I missed the new opportunity and it's getting annoying at this point.
