@KirbyTheVampire I soo disagree on your 'tech not being there' comment.

Don't get me wrong, it can certainly play modern games if it truly can run Dark Souls 3, but not the really big ones, and that's kind of a bummer for me. People who just like Nintendo games, indies, and JRPG's won't care, and that's awesome for those people, but the Switch is missing out on a large group of people by not being able to run those large AAA games. That doesn't mean the Switch won't be a really cool system or that it won't be a success, but it is a bummer that it can't run those games. In that regard, the tech isn't there, and it certainly will miss out on potential sales because of that. People would be lining up in droves to get a Switch if it could run any game on the TV and as a portable. That's not the fault of Nintendo, though. They clearly pushed it as far as they could. It's just the nature of a hybrid to not be a huge powerhouse, at least at this point in time.

As much as I adore Forbes for business stuff, I wouldn't say their tech department is their forte....

But anyway! Back to the topic, personally I disagree with the comparison with the Vita. The Vita was a portable that wanted to be a home console, and thus, was find wanting against the PS4. The Switch is a home console that wants to be a portable and (in my opinion) wins against the alternative - mobile. The focus, for me, is different.

For me, the console is trying to move on a path that the Vita tried - unify the console ecosystem in a single device and it is the future of videogames. Consoles can't push graphics that much far - but trying to get those experience on the go is a new avenue. It could be a boom like the Wii was, or it could be a bust. I hope it is a boom, but only time will tell.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

@Luna_110 sharp. Good way of describing it.

If people are even talking about the switch, being one or the other, they're accepting it as a viable purchase. Psychology 101.

Remember that if you're on the internet talking about anything, you are, by very definition, a minority.

Bah - everything is a "black mark" against the Switch in your eyes.

And you don't even discuss things with us. You just sort of type belligerent posts and then attack anyone who offers a counterpoint.

There must be some underlying reason why you are on a Nintendo forum flooding it with negativity, though. What is it? Did Nintendo somehow wound you personally?

@rallydefault Short story: he met a woman named Laurel Kate Dale, he always believed everything that she said about the Switch. Then Nintendo appeared and proved that she lied, thus @SLIGEACH_EIRE became mad at Nintendo. The end.

@rallydefault Lies! Lies! And more lies! Attack people? Nonsense. Belligerent? Have you read all my posts or the stories I send in to the site? Nintendo have been offending me for a long time now. They're driving away even the most staunch of their supporters. Me included. I love them and their franchises but some of their decisions and business practises are mind boggling, plus infuriating.

SCamiibo contribute nothing to gaming.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I understand your expression towards Nintendo, but that doesn't mean that everyone should be like you. Even if Nintendo has made a console that's similar to PS4 and Xbox One, it's going to ruin the video game industry more than you think. Also, it would harm Nintendo financially and the "hardcore" audience is grabbed by Sony and Microsoft, so even if Nintendo returns to the "console war", It will be an uphill battle to get to the top.

Dude, I'll be honest with you - I've read all those articles anyway, because I try to read up on everything after work every day before I visit the forums. I figure it's good to be informed from multiple perspectives and all that.

Anyway, you just need to realize that everything from your standpoint is purely anecdotal and your opinion. You say Nintendo is "driving you away," but that's funny, because they've been bringing me back with the Wii U and now the Switch after I skipped the Gamecube and Wii.

It really just depends on the person. I know you want everyone to get all up in arms with you, but to be honest, I'm pretty flippin' happy about the Switch. It's going to be the cheapest console launch for me - console and a game. And when Snipperclips and Mario Kart come out, I won't even have to buy more controllers to play with my wife. It seems like every week we hear about another launch title (today was I Am Setsuna, which is awesome - last week was Binding of Isaac, which I'll finally get to play), and the portability/home duality is exactly what I want at this point in my life. I think it's great.

I don't really care what everyone else thinks, nor should I. Nobody - NOBODY - has any clue how it's going to perform, either.

Funny that, both of those articles I linked to were up well less than an hour when I posted them here. I Google search all the time for the latest news on Switch.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE funny that, instead of responding to @rallydefault's point you make insinuations about their integrity. If you want to actually have a discussion then I bet there are lot of people here who are more patient than me, but I'm honestly tired of your whining. I wouldn't have said anything about it, but the above post is a step too far. If you want to have a proper discussion, that's great, if not don't bother posting on a discussion board.

I for one don't buy the whole "We got burnt by the Wii U" argument. Personally I think the Wii U had one of the best gaming libraries ever, because almost all the first party titles were to my liking. That's my opinion. It is entirely subjective, but I don't get how a system that brought us a better Smash, a great new Mario Kart, a perfect mix between 2D and 3D Mario, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi's Woolly World and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker to name a few, left you feeling burnt. What was missing? And were you ever promised what you didn't get?

@AlliMeadow I contribute far more than you ever do. I'm here daily and recognise the prominent members. You most certainly are not one of them. The Wii U has a tiny library and certainly not one of the best libraries. That honour goes to Gamecube. I am participating, you just don't like what you hear. Too bad!

I'll answer one of your questions.

"And were you ever promised what you didn't get?"

Yes I was. I was promised 3rd party support, I was Nintendo had learned their lessons after the disastrous 3DS launch and how Wii fizzled out. They haven't learned anything.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Well, give us some examples of 3rd party support.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE posting a lot doesn't mean actually contributing. Some of us post a lot, some of us post less. I usually don't post unless I feel compelled to provide an argument that I feel hasn't been mentioned in the discussion. Besides, you're doing it again. You're questioning my participation instead of actually giving an answer. Besides my point still stands, even if it were hypocritical of me to raise it.

Back to the actual discussion. When did Nintendo promise 3rd party support? I don't really care about 3rd parties, so I probably missed it during the lead up to the Wii U.

Is that the Lego version of Minecraft or the toys to life one?

I really need to try some of the other Lego games, I only ever get the Batman, Marvel and Indiana Jones ones.

@jump The Lego version of Minecraft. The toys-to-life one is Lego Dimensions, which has not been confirmed for a Switch release.
