I'm sure that once the switch launches with zelda beside it and its great reviews than it will become a huge launch. I remember big games coming out on wii u and it never had any impact on the console sales if only for a short period. I have a feeling that the switch is an incredibly attractive product compared to wii u and it could make people make the jump a lot quicker.......

Being region free is a step in the right direction.

All those fools claiming they didn't learn anything are already wrong.

Okay, just in case anyone was still wondering, Nintendo's very own website confirms that you can add and manage your friends list on the Switch console itself.

I just saw this post. Mind if I ask where he got his source from cuz this could make me be there day one wapzgin

@TheLZdragon The shift toward charging the Switch with USB-C is another clear example of Nintendo changing in ways that are beneficial to its brand.

And yeah, after all the problems caused by the 3DS being region locked, the Switch being region free and allowing for the free creation of accounts for multiple regions is HUGE.

I'm choosing to ignore the whiners and have faith in Nintendo. I believe in what Nintendo has with the Switch.

@Ralizah At least people actually know it exists this time, unlike the Wii U. I just hope they keep up with the advertising. A Superbowl commercial would be nice.

I just noticed that Logan will premiere on the same day the Switch launches. March 3rd is looking better and better.

@KirbyTheVampire Yeah, Nintendo really needs to step up its advertising game. You pretty much never saw a Wii U commercial if you weren't watching Disney XD or a few other child-oriented channels. On the other hand, I saw Playstation commercials constantly on bigger channels.

There's no excuse for Nintendo not to plaster BotW ads EVERYWHERE on TV. Adults play their games, after all. Perhaps to a greater degree than children these days.

With Bomberman priced at £49.99 in the UK and $49.99 in the US,surely it'll be cheaper for UK users to change their region and buy it from the NA Eshop?If it is in fact possible to that is.At the moment $49.99 converts to £40.50,so even with the £1.50 foreign transaction fee my bank would charge for buying from the NA Eshop,it's still an £8 saving. If the pound can get back to it's pre-Brexit level but the game prices remain the same as they're now then it could work out considerably cheaper buying all our games from there.Even before Brexit,$ to £,we've always been paying more if we buy at it's RRP.

OK, guys, I'll start a rumour.

I heard that Nintendo is going to broadcast a Direct solely for Switch, detailing systems capabilities, online features, eShop, and games. All in next month.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

I'm waiting to see what eshop switching means on the system. Because I'll be buying a lot of american digital or UK digital depending on currency at time of buying. Unless, of course, that locks you out of direct starting other games for some reason.

edit: oh and I thought of something: when will retailers start selling - and more importantly, discounting - digital download codes? That'd be awesome.

Add to that the use of USB C cables and they are even more wrong.

Hopefully they can work out a way to let people play games purchased on different accounts attached to their system. In a way that doesn't open it up to people abusing the system. If there are multiple accounts on the same console they should have access to the same games. But I'm not sure how they'd allow that and also allow you to have multiple consoles tied to the same account....

FAO UK people:

Amazon currently have a promo code for £10 off a £50 spend with BIGTHANKS. So preorder both BotW and MK and get them for £42.49 each! (Prime owners will also get it cheaper).

Or if you're willing to put a bit of effort in you could get £10 off your Nintendo Switch pre-order if you speak to chat. They'll tell you that you need to cancel and re-order to obtain the discount for this item, but explain to them that because it's currently unavailable so you can't do this, they should do a work around. The guy I spoke to on chat said he'd make sure the money is refunded when the Switch is dispatched.

Got my girlfriend to preorder the games and I've done the Switch so a nice £20 saving that I thought would pass on- it's still not Pre-Brexit levels but hey, it's better than nothing

The US price is without VAT, the UK price includes VAT. So you can't just convert dollar for pound.

@erv Check out Gamesrocket.I bought nearly all my games digitally from there for around 25% cheaper than on the Eshop. Unfortunately because of the weak pound,it's not as cheap as it once wasThe site is based in Germany and even though it has a UK equivalent website the prices seem to be a direct conversion.Even then though,t's still cheaper than the E-shop.If you're in the Netherlands you should still make a decent saving.

@OorWullie thanks, I'll check it out. Does that mean I still get to play the un-german version? Meaning, no cencorship, no german dubbed, etc? Seeing as you have experience buying

@skywake I think that's a must. Why would they not do that? As in, why not buy physical then and have it sharable? That's the thing. If they want to entice more eshop purchases, and it seems they really want to, that is exactly the kind of barrier that they couldn't use.

Luckily it's no problem for me. I understand how it could be a major drawback though.

@erv
What I'm saying is that I hope if I create a second Japanese account on my Switch I can access those games on my main account. That I won't have to swap accounts basically. Would also be good for people who are sharing a system which is a thing. The Wii U did this but it didn't have region lock so I don't think many people took advantage of it. It's very likely this is a thing that the Switch has.

At the same time I'd hope that it's possible for me to have one account across multiple systems. If for some reason down the road I want a second Switch? I should be able to just log in and have my games there. For example if there's a Switch Mini or Switch Pro down the line. Would avoid the whole system transfer thing that exists now. This is a standard thing across smartphones and so on.

But I'm not sure how they could do both in a way that doesn't open it up to people abusing the system. For example if that's possible then a group of people could create a "Switch games" account. Add it on all of their systems. Then pool the money and have the same game effectively copied across systems. So there would have to be some restrictions

To get around the singular account on numerous systems, it just needs to only allowed to be active on one system. In other words, if you want to sign in on another system, deactive the other system [which should be able to be done from My Nintendo's web portal] and activate it on the new system.
Sure, it still doesn't stop it fully, but it stops more than one person playing from that account at the same time. And might deter people from doing it with more than two systems.

There's an Emily Rogers tweet circulating comparing the Switch's first year to the Wii U overall. I think it's a little bit biased towards the Switch. It lists all the known Switch games and then says how long we had to wait for the closed Wii U equivalent. So here's a list that tries to line the pacing of releases up.

Wii U got -> Switch has
New SMB U -> Zelda BotW
Nintendo Land -> 1-2 Switch
Zombi U -> Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Nothing -> Arms
..........end of launch window..........
Lego City -> Splatoon 2
Injustice -> Fire Emblem Warriors
Resident Evil Revelations -> Skyrim
Game & Wario -> Super Mario Odyssey
Pikmin 3 -> Xenoblade Chronicles 2
The Wonderful 101 -> Fire Emblem
Wind Waker HD -> Unknown
..........end of first full year..........

Clearly the Switch is getting a better start, there's no need to massage the truth to make that point
