@Octane Yep,too far fetched.I later noticed the video is from October, just the Reddit post is new.I just read the headline and a couple of comments and got a bit excited and posted it here haha.
Just say it is true though,Retro did have a lot of new job vacancies open up.Maybe not enugh to take on 3 titles at the same time. But a new Donkey Kong could probably be put together pretty quick, they could re-use assets from TF.They might have had lots of ideas and levels left over from TF that didn't make it in.Maybe it was even planned to come to the Wii U and has been finished for a while. Metroid might also be ready to go or in it's final phases while at the same time, others have started work on a new smaller title.
@Peek-a-boo Come on now, stop cherry picking comments to suit your adgenda. We get it, you're delighted that Mass Effect isn't coming to this system, you don't need to continue with your concern trolling.
But make sure you tell us how concerned and worried you are over the next few days about another 3rd party game's chances of coming to the Switch, we're all on tender hooks about Red Dead Redemption 2 here and considering how it's a fact that EVERY SINGLE NINTENDO FAN hates non-Nintendo games your comments reminding us of that are greatly appreciated. /s
But seriously stop. Rational and right minded people here all want these games to be as multi platform as possible and your sly tarring of people with the same brush is tired and irritating.
@Shinion Wow. Take a chill pill. You've just made yourself come across as a baby who is throwing all their toys out of the pram.
I want as many third party games on the Nintendo Switch as possible! If that bothers you that I want third party games on the Nintendo Switch, then I don't know what else you expect me to say.
@Peek-a-boo I'm sure you want 3rd party games on the Switch. Your last two contributions to this thread pointing out two 3rd party games that aren't coming and then throwing shade at Nintendo fans at the same time demonstrate that perfectly. Followed by your inability to contribute anything other than telling us how concerned you are about it.
In other news I'm getting sworn in as president of the United States of America this year. How exciting!
EDIT: THREE I almost missed the part where you are clearly so optimistic about Doom (2016) and how evident it is that you want it on this system based off of that comment. How thick do you think people must be to not see your intentions? Wait until January 12/13 at least, then you can have lots and lots of crow to serve, I'll take it gladly should the worst come to pass as long as you stop being a sly concern troll in the meantime.
@OorWullie I get what you're saying. If they had something ready for the Wii U that was slated for 2016, but was moved over to the Switch, and if that team is already working on something new and the second team could've been working on something since the release of Tropical Freeze, then yeah, three games is possible, but I don't expect them all to release this year.
@Tasuki It seems you're blatantly ignoring the fact that Activision owns Blizzard. That anology implies that Activision has no say in what happens with Overwatch, but that's about as false as saying Activision has no say in what happens with Call of Duty. Activision is the publisher, so they likely have full rights to put Overwatch on anything they please. If Blizzard won't do the port, themselves, Acti will just give the porting job to another team, see Guitar Hero.
EDIT: There was another page where this was already discussed, however, Activision is and has always been a publisher. Ever since Gen 2. They don't MAKE CoD, Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer do. Just like they didn't MAKE Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk, Neversoft did. (RIP) Activision helps distribute games. That's what they do. They also provide a budget to developers and keep a decent chunk of the returns. EA is the same way. Just for completeness, Nintendo and Ubisoft are NOT the same way. They both publish AND develop, meaning they keep more of the profits when they make games in-house, but can also reach out a hand to other developers.
That would be fine if they only offered a discount to those who purchased the digital copies, since the owners of physical copies could sell them on eBay, etc. But of course this entire possibility is pretty unlikely.
But quite unfair really. They'd probably get more of a backlash for offering a discount for digital-only buyers than for not offering any discount at all.
@MarcelRguez Platinum have had a few releases since Bayonetta (Transformers, TMNT, contribution to StarFox) but all but Transformers got fairly low scores from critics. A quick look at Wikipedia tells me that Platinum output 1-2 games a year...however this year has Scalebound and Nier scheduled. So you're right, I really don't see how Platinum could give the Switch three games in 2016. At least, three new games of good quality.
As for Retro, it's been so long since we've heard from them that I wouldn't be surprised if they were holding back a finished game and were well into a second. But considering they've only developed 5-6 games in the last 15 years I don't imagine a third Switch title would come for a while.
@MarcelRguez Don't forget that the other team at Platinum is working on NieR: Automata. And they already have another PS4 game planned for 2018. Scalebound is coming this year hopefully. I can't see them working on three Switch titles alongside of their current projects.
@Peek-a-boo smh - this isn't the first time they've said about no plans for Andromeda on Switch. But both times they've left the door open for it to happen. It could still happen, going by what they've said.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@MarcelRguez As far as I'm aware, Sony hasn't funded the project. It's also coming to PC and an Xbox One version is up for consideration at a later point, but it's currently only slated for PS4 and PC.
Meanwhile as far as undoubtedly contentious and controversial 3rd party Switch games are concerned, Laura Kate is hearing from her Ubi contact that the Beyond Good and Evil follow up will be a Switch retail exclusive and exclusive digitally for a year, with the PS4/Xbox One releases being digital only.
Oh and a port of Rayman Legends is coming too in the January event because why not lel.
Please understand if I misconstrued or misunderstood anything about this rumour, I wanted to be the first to spread the word about this here and I know how some people just can't wait to post anything/everything that is a positive for this system. With one individual in particular I'm amazed they didn't link it straight away with how they are eager to support 3rd party games, and going off of what I remember of their opinion on Rise of the Tomb Raider and Dead Rising 4 I'm sure they'll give this news a positive reception and will in no way make their minds up about the game before it releases should this rumour be true!
@Dev For an RPG that apparently has Mario in it, it is odd that his name does not get a mention in the title to the game. I wonder if this will end up being multiplatform at some point, hence the lack of Mario's name in the title.

@Whitewatermoose I don't have much faith in either Ghost Recon or For Honor being ported to the Switch, or else I'm sure there's have been leaks about them by now. Same with the new South Park game too come to think of it.
But I agree I don't understand why Ubisoft would port Raymond Legends to the Switch? I know it wasn't a massively successful game first time round, but I feel anyone who wants that game bought it.

@Whitewatermoose I strongly disagree with you on For Honor. I think that game will blow over like Steep.
Don't think For Honor or Ghost Recon will come to Switch, but South Park is a possibility. Only thing with that game is the Stick of Truth deal. Will they port both games? Or will they say screw it and not port either?
I think the Wii version of Rodea the sky soldier should become a Switch game. The joycons are similar to the wiimote,so it could work. This way all the people that weren't able to get the limited edition could play the best version.
