@BLP_Software@Nicolai I can see his point. Although some will have legitimate reasons for disliking the Wii U, I'm willing to bet the majority don't like it because of fanboyism or because they've been told that "it sucks".
The reason I say this is because it's not new, or unique to the Wii U. I've been seeing this since the Gamecube (which was a lot more on par with its competitors in terms of capabilities), and I'm sure it would've happened in the Sega vs. Nintendo days.
@Buizel: Yeah, that may be. I guess I can't really know for sure what the majority feels without going out and taking surveys.
My main complaint at any rate is that Colin seems to think there is no conceivable reason to legitimately dislike the system, which I feel misrepresents those who have real reasons. For someone blaming the state of affairs on people's biased fanboy opinions, it makes his own opinion look like that too.
@Nicolai Well i think hes referring more to the "It sucks because it sucks" as opposed to folks outlining reasons. Im fine with the latter but the former, i.e. the loudest ones, are what hes trying to understand.
Also as it turns out its not super ASMR i was just really really tired.

The original pitch was clearly hybrid though. I think we're picking too much on small details
Agreed I feel that at some point the 3DS line will get phased out. It won't happen over night (Obviously) but odd's are quit high that Nintendo plans on simply supporting one unit.
True, the Switch tablet could be the "sensor bar". If the Switch has Wii VC games, it would be strange playing Super Mario Galaxy with a right Joycon that I'm not used to yet. The left joycon would work fine as the "nunchuck" though. The only way this could support DS VC games is if, maybe, they forced the two screen option on you again, or had other screen options like on the Wii U.
I think it's going to be more of a default controller option. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they supported the original controllers. They're literally bluetooth so it's not much of a hassle to get them working and they only gain the ability to make the Wii VC an easier sell. Same deal with the Wii U Pro Controller.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
Do we still need a sensor bar? I know that the gyro controls in a lot of the Wii Remote Plus games were pretty wonky, but Nintendo Land used the same tech and they made it work in that game. I've used the ''pointer'' function in a couple of PS4 games like Tearaway and it's very accurate. I think that we could do without pointer controls and just rely on the gyro controls for all the motion stuff.
Although thinking about it, iirc, the right JoyCon is supposed to have an IR pointer or something like that. If that's true, forget what I just said.
@Octane
It does have an IR camera so yeah. Anyways, this would mostly be for a Wii VC service anyways. Quite a number of Wii games used the pointer controls fairly heavily. It would be much harder for them to sell those games if you had to have a WiiMote in order to play them. Clunky or not building it into the system makes all games on the VC accessible to all Switch owners.
NES/SNES -> Easily done
N64 -> Again, pretty easily done
GC -> Rumours say it has analogue triggers. It could also support the GC adapter
Wii -> Needs motion sensors, gyro and pointer. All in the patents. Could also support WiiMotes
@skywake Then the final one would of course be:
Wii U -> Create Remasters/enhanced ports for most games as there's only a few which actually need the 2 screen setup.
I'm sitting here thinking about what Nintendo's big Xmas 2017 release could be.We'll already have 3D Mario,Zelda (surely to god) and Pokemon is rumoured for fall.I imagine whatever it is will be there big E3 surprise but what could it be?Even if Pokemon doesn't come till the holidays,I don't think it will be their "big" game.Metroid isn't a huge seller so even if one's coming,I can't see that being it.Animal Crossing I doubt.They'll want a big seller considering it's the Switch's 1st Xmas so a new IP would be risky.Whatever Retro's working on,possibly but that's not 1st party.Smash,Kart and Splatoon ports/remasters wont cut it.I've honestly no idea.
@OorWullie I don't think they'd need one. Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon will still be there for Christmas bundles. I don't think a single big title is going to make the difference, it will be a number of quality titles (hopefully a significant number of multiplatformers!)
On that note, have Sony and Microsoft had big Christmas system sellers the past few years? I'm scratching my head trying to think of one.
@Azooooz 80% of developers in the last generation? Holllyyyyyyy hell.
I have to agree with the sentiment. People in my course say "Well GTAV cost 200 million if not more and made ITS money back" and my response has been "Because its GTA". Your game wont do that, and if ya think it will after even 10 million, you're running a risky business.

@MarcelRguez FF15 is multiplatform and was originally expected two months prior. My point is, going by recent years, the biggest titles generally aren't Christmas titles - they come earlier, around autumn time. And some of this generation's must-buy titles (I'm thinking Uncharted 4 and Bloodborne for PS4) have come out in Spring.
@Buizel The holiday season is often too crowded with big titles anyway. I don't think they would be able to compete with the annual franchises. Look at Titanfall 2 (not even exclusive), but the game bombed because it was released between Battlefield and COD. I think that the multiplats games are still system sellers despite not being exclusive; especially when those games are marketed for those systems and are bundled in with them.
If its true a Pokemon game is coming, Nintendo doesn't need anything else for Christmas 2017. Pokemon alone sells, a lot. Add Zelda to that and you're set for all the holiday period.
Titanfall was probably a rare moment of creative freedom given they are locked to a publisher. And thats a shame. And given how small a cut the developers get in that situation per sale, they probably didnt do too well.

@Whitewatermoose Well, that's true, but it was never going to sell well because the holiday seasons is just too crowded. I think that an early 2017 release would've been better for the game. Although Q1 2017 is now pretty busy too since everyone wants to avoid the holiday season, but you get my point. If you're not a AAA established blockbuster title, it may be better to avoid Q4 altogether.

And this is where we hope that Nintendo gets these multiplats.
If they give us Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon in the same year I think those will be our big titles. After that I think it's just a case of quantity.
