@Ralizah I thought I heard someone say it was only 3 that might be on the Switch. Don't quote me on that one, though.

From Software games are good games, more good games the better.

Let's hope this turns out to be true then.

@NintyFan So basically Star Fox is on hiatus again due to SF0 sales? Can't say I'm surprised despite it being sad.

So what I understand is the NX is Switch and is portable. What I don't understand is how games will be stored. Most games can be 20+ GB so there will be close to no digital?
The focus on the portable part seems fun, but Im afreid it will come with the expense for power. The N64 and GC was powerhouses back in the days. Now Nintendo is always behind in graphical power by far. I mean, we probly see a lot of games that maybe would been on 3DS and it will be a lot of games hopefully, but as someone who loves console games I hope we wont see the indiefest like on the Wii U, but get retail games to the system. Again, I hope the lack of power wont bite nintendo in the back like the Wii U.

You know what frustrates me? Laura Kate Dale is lashing out and leaking now not because it is news but because she has been blacklisted. She is now doing this out of spite. She is incredibly unprofessional...

And what makes it worse is that I know her in real life...

@Grandpa_Pixel I mean, I only listen to her once a week on a podcast but even I can safely assume that she is not being spiteful or unprofessional here. She has a job to report stuff, and when she hears these things that people tell her (because let's not forget that key fact, it's not like she's coercing/threatening people to get this info, they're telling her willingly) she reports on it. She knew well in advance that this was the likely outcome and did it anyway, and neither party can be truly surprised/hold grudges over this, Laura did not sign an NDA so in no way has to keep secrets and she only had to look to Kotaku being blacklisted by Ubisoft and Bethesda for leaking Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Fallout 4 respectively.

She did say that it stung when she heard she was blacklisted, considering she grew up playing Nintendo, but this is not making her spiteful or unprofessional. On the contrary as I said, she is being professional by doing what she is crowdfunded to do (she links to her Patreon every time she posts a leak article).

Nowt here controversial in my opinion.

@PaperMario64 Actually, reports say the Switch is much more powerful than the Wii U. To what extent, we're not sure, but supposedly it can run pretty much any game out there, albeit at a somewhat lower graphical level than other systems. Of course, these are all just rumors, but if they're to be believed, the Switch's 3rd party support depends more on the number of units sold than anything else. I don't think the hardware will be an issue at all. The Wii U is a dinosaur compared to this thing, in certain areas anyway.

@Grandpa_Pixel I don't know why Dale was surprised about the blacklist, lol. I would blacklist someone that relentlessly leaked everything I was trying to keep secret, too.

Also, @skywake, you suggested that everything would be done through USB-C, right? Guess that's kinda confirmed now.

I sure did but it's nice to see someone saying it who isn't just randomly speculating. Hard to say what the RRP will be for docks sold separately but it's going to be pretty cheap. Great news IMO. It means most of us are probably going to buy a second dock. Which will make the Switch portable not just either on the main TV or on the go but also between screens.

BTW, this news if accurate more-or-less confirms HDMI 1.4 rather than HDMI 2.0. Which means no HDR and no 4K at 60Hz. The latter was never going to be used anyways but no HDR is a bit of a shame. It might still have support for 4K Netflix because 4K Netflix doesn't run at 60Hz. But I wouldn't hold my breath. But Ethernet? There may still be a wired Ethernet jack at the back of the unit. If not there will certainly be a USB 2.0 Hub. Additionally one of those ports may be able to run at USB 3.1 speeds when the display is turned off.

The sad thing there is one leak she made claim to that is actually correct. I know this thanks to my position in the industry. That is what makes it worse for me as now I have to keep a tighter lid on it.

And before anyone asks, it is not the rumours about the games.

@Grandpa_Pixel She's now lashing out at Nintendo for them blacklisting her when the only reason she's had her 15 minutes of fame is by leaking their secrets.Going by some of her other tweets, she just comes across as a sad attention seeker to me and the sooner she crawls back into her hole and I never have to see her name again the better.Harsh but true.

Nintendo Switch Dock Does Increase Performance After All

Keeping industry outsider Laura Kate Dale from the Switch invitational does, apparently, jack diddly squat in keeping her out of Nintendo's troves of information. She recently released a summary of the performance improvements that the Nintendo Switch dock adds to the handheld's hardware — not due to additional processing, it seems, but by amping up the clock speed and cooling to help pump up the graphical display on TV sets.

Untitled

That does, of course, suggest that the handheld display will be downscaled accordingly. So your best overall performance is still to play the games at home.

If I remember correctly, Maxwell and Pascal powered laptops' performance increases when they are plugged to the AC adapter, so even if this is true, I won't be surprised much. Now how about we put these rumours to rest? Don't ruin the event's surprises.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

And to think I was being vilified a couple of days ago for saying people should remain calm and not jump to conclusions/rash thoughts.

So we now know Dark Souls 3 will probably come to this system. So what? Don't get at journalists for reporting things, it's not their job to "keep secrets" and play into the hype machine, you go into the hell hole known as Randy Pitchford Logic if you go there.

You don't want to go there. I don't know anyone here but I know you don't want to go there.

@Azooooz I imagine Nintendo must have been aware of the risk that by releasing the Switch announcement trailer but following up with nothing until January 2017 that all their surprises may leak before the actual event.

EDIT: Looks like Eurogamer has decided to leak more stuff, GC VC confirmed.

I was surprised when GC games didn't appear on the Wii U eShop. So rumours of the Switch getting them? Awesome but not that unexpected. Well, unexpected but not mind-blowing.

@Shinion It's nothing to do with the reporting really.Someone inside Nintendo wants this Switch information out for whatever reason so if it wasn't her it would be someone else reporting it.It's everything else in between that has made me draw my conclusions.I don't even know why I bothered to read her non Switch related tweets but I did unfortunately. Now one of her more recent tweets just sums her up "If you want to start playing nice Nintendo, you know where to find me "

@OorWullie Well you're perfectly fine to read into that how you want, just perhaps think before typing that sorta stuff and expecting to be taken seriously. For me, I prefer the games press and game companies being at loggerheads with each other rather than what we had a few years back when Microsoft paid people for positive Xbox One coverage and WB did likewise with Shadow of Mordor.

And yet again I feel it relevant to being up No Man's Sky. Plenty of journalists did their job by your definition with Hello Games here, as they swallowed anything and everything Sean Murray said without question, dozens of "No Man's Sky has INFINITE content/you'll never be able to see it all in this game!" articles. Safe to say that didn't end up reflecting well on said journalists.

If they've no signed an NDA they're absolutely not doing anything legally wrong, and I'd argue a vast majority of people would say they're not doing anything morally wrong either.

They're not PR people, keeping their yaps shut until the secret can come out at the right moment.

At the end of the day, we like leaks and rumors. It drums up the hype and can never get enough of it. Pokemon news, Smash news. We lap it up like dogs and their water bowls. And I support leaks and rumors provided they only drum up the hype or have credible evidence and are done by professionals.

However what LKD is not that. She is out to make a name of herself and blast all who get in her way. She has shown numerous unprofessional practices, spiteful behavior and self-absorbed glory to get the spotlight (including before the Switch Leak Mill started operations). She is no better than a celebrity on the Only Way Is Essex or Made In Chelsea where all they do is glitz and glam about how great they are.

And the sad part is there are many good leakers/rumor mongers out there who do a far better job than her and do not get the attention they deserve. And I should also point out these guys have leaks and rumors which are true!

From this point forward, I will be cutting all ties to LKD, blacklisting her from my own game company's list and as well as the list of anyone else I can and pretty much ignoring all articles that come her true or not. By all means if people want to follow her still that's fine but she is a diva and that is what you are following.

I would call her a rude word instead of diva but I do not want to get in trouble with our admins.

Well thanks for not doing that anyway.

But yeah I've tried my best to keep things civil and reasonable but I'm gonna call it here and spend the next month lurking other places I think. Hope you all get what you want, leaks or no leaks, danger zones or no danger zones, ports or no ports, Metroid or no Metroid, keep the faith y'all I'm outta here.
