I guess NintendoLife did a preview for this device, but I must have missed it cause I just heard about it yesterday when my coworker sent me a text asking if I'd seen the Nitro Deck.
This thing is slick!
Immediately ordered the black, then realized I need a case so I also ordered the SNES edition with case, will give the extra to my brother for his birthday since that's coming up soon.
It has HALL Effect joysticks with swappable caps, gyro, rumble, 4 rear buttons exactly like SteamDeck and are also remappable like SteamDeck, it's compatible with both the regular Switch and the OLED model, it has pass-through charging, a built in kickstand for tabletop mode, and when your Switch is docked you can actually plug it in to your Switch Dock with a USB cable and use it as a controller if you want.
All those ppl saying they prefer the ergonomics of the SteamDeck but not Switch... here ya go. This essentially turns Switch into a SteamDeck, except not nearly as wide or as heavy.
Preorders live now. Ships next month in September.

Nintendo anounce a 15 minutes Nintendo Direct at 10 am in august 31th, focused on Super Mario Bros Wonder and speculating/predicting what Nintendo could show on the Super Mario Bros Wonder focused Direct.
So Batman Arkham Trilogy is now available for eshop preorder. The eshop page says cloud saves are present for Arkham Asylum and Arkham City but not Arkham Knight where it says:
"Not supported
This software does not use save data."
Arkham Asylum is showing up as 6.8GB by the way. Does make it seem like physical including both 7th gen games would've meant needing a 32GB cart (Arkham City would surely be over 9.2GB).
To me why wouldn’t you just shut the console off when not using it especially if you aren’t going to use it for a little while? Isn’t it generally a bad idea to leave something perpetually on? To me it’s just common sense to turn something off when it’s not in use for extended periods. Now I’ve put my switch into sleep while on WiFi downloading updates but when I’m finished and not playing it at home I turn it off.
I genuinely had no clue. And besides the occasional noisy fan and a faulty pro controller I've had no issues - and that's since late 2017.
I might have switched it off when I was moving house but that's it.
It just seems like a huge oversight. Because I didn't buy a Switch for the handheld mode, and most of my games are digital. I'm not physically touching the console itself so it's never come up.
...I do have a moment every decade or so that makes me look like a huge idiot. When I was 12 I discovered cars had pedals, when I was 22 I learned that your Switch can be switched off!
What will I learn at 32? Hopefully more common sense
Just saw the news about Sony increasing the prices on PS Plus... wtf are they thinking?! A $20/year price increase for the most BASIC tier to access online multiplayer and cloud saves. $80 a year. That's absolutely ridiculous.
@IceClimbers
$80/ year for PS PLUS? OMG... 😱
But fortunately I don't subscribe PS PLUS, I only made my account to purchase DLC stuffs from PS4 Store.
@IceClimbers It's times like this that I appreciate NSO's pricing options. It may not offer as much as the competitors, but it's nice to know I can play online without being milked dry. Jesus.

What was that U-turn Sony did on something unpopular a while back? PlayStation players need to unite and make that happen again.
@gcunit The PS3 store closure. They walked that back but instead now Playstation are slowly and quietly delisting games more frequently. Eventually there'll be nothing left to purchase.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Giancarlothomaz
The interesting thing about that whole thing is that it's also tied to a "leak" that suggests it will have a camera "possibly for VR". Not convinced about the VR bit but the camera? Bringing back a camera on their next bit of hardware has been a relatively unpopular opinion of mine for a good while now. Most places I've brought up the idea people have turned their nose up at the idea
I think it makes sense, especially if you have tensor cores behind it. Now how that works in a game that can take advantage of it without being entirely a gimmick? Not sure. But it could be interesting. The more tools you give developers the more interesting the end product can be
