I do think 2022 had better Switch support than 2017 overall. All it was really missing, and this is the reason why 2017 will remain more fondly remembered, is a polished AAA blockbuster with mainstream appeal. 2017 had the devastating one-two punch of Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. And, frankly, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for most people, because almost nobody owned a Wii U, lol.
@Ralizah Absolutely. The third-party support this year especially was amazing. As you mentioned, I think the only thing holding me back from saying that this is the best year the Switch has ever had is the lack of a huge AAA release. If TOTK would have released this year, I would be singing a different tune right now.
But I think that 2022 is sort of the "prelude" to the absolute monster that will be 2023, both in a first-party AAA sense and a third-party sense. This year was awesome, and next year just looks like it'll be turning it up a level higher.

@Ralizah no year can top 2017, a year Nintendo released Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2 e Xenoblade Chonicles 2, 2019 come closer to surpass 2017
As expected the Switch version does indeed seem to be coming out after the other versions. This seems to happen a fair bit with third party games, so I’m curious how it’ll look on the Switch. I’m definitely getting it on PS5 though next month if reviews are decent.

So, it's that time of year again... the Nintendo Switch year in review. Since the Booster Course Pass came out early this year, I wonder what game I spent the most time on? lol

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
My Switch in review said my most played were all Pokemon games lol (Scarlet, Arceus and Brilliant Diamond). LIVE A LIVE is still my Switch title of the year though.
I'll be honest, I promised myself I wasn't gonna complain about it anymore. But I'm so thrilled that I had three games I played more this year than Xenoblade 2. I already played way too much of it last year, so I would've been bummed out if my, in hindsight, largely regrettable post-game run had been played more than the games I was actually fond of (Xenoblade 2 has its moments, most of them I experienced last year, trust me :V). And barring anything I play in the next 2 or so weeks, they are the games I liked the most that I played this year, so that's nice.
It looks like NSO Expansion Pack is going to be the last Nintendo news of the year. We've got the Mario Strikers update (America trailer shows December 13th, UK trailer shows December 14th) appearing in a few hours, there's the Tetris 99 Kirby theme on Friday but every year since NSO's creation there's been December wave(s) of games on the service:
December 12th 2018 - 3 NES games
December 12th 2019 - 2 NES games and 4 SNES games
December 18th 2020 - 1 NES game and 4 SNES games
December 10th 2021 - 1 N64 game
December 16th 2021 - 5 Genesis games
I'd imagine another batch of Genesis games is most likely but I'm still holding out hope that Goldeneye appears (Xbox haven't done their 2nd half of December Game Pass batch yet).
Ended up hitting a wall with Hades (started going backwards and dying to things I was previously clearing), when my friend made me aware of the God mode setting. When enabled I think it gives you a 15 percent damage reduction, which then increases by a couple of percent every time you die, which carries over between runs. I think it caps out at 80% I think.
It still took me to like 30 percent, unlocking the ability transform weapons and unlocking my third death defiance to beat that second boss I originally reached and almost beat without any accessibility modes enabled. Kinda frustrating, but progressing through the game means more to me than some sort of weird stubborn pride and just being stuck forever.
Sadly, I basically went all in to get through that second boss, so by the time I got to the third area I basically had nothing left. I did beat the first mini-boss in that third zone, but then died to trash as I had no health or restarts. I do think if I can make it just a little further next time I can unlock a vendor who will reset my death defiances, to give me more chances to push forwards without the fear of death resetting my runs.
Main release in April, Switch release in... July? Just 90 days later? Am I the only one who finds that just a tad odd?
Most Switch delayed releases come 6-9 months after the fact to provide time to port the game over. Not always- there have been times Switch received a game just a few months after. But it's usually a longer wait than 90 days.
Now.
Other systems release before May and Zelda TotK. Switch version is scheduled for after May and Zelda TotK. Coincidence? Maybe. It absolutely could just be coincidence.
Or, it could be that an extremely demanding AAA game is getting a dual release on a new Switch that will be out by July.
Keep hype in check. I am personally more than prepared for another 2 years without a jump in hardware power. But I am increasingly suspicious as more and more circumstantial evidence seems to, at the very least, continually fail to rule the possibility out.

@Pizzamorg my Switch restropective for 2022 said Animal Crossing New Horizon, Kirby and the Forgotten Land e Metroid Dread as my most played game for this, 3+ for Animal Crossing New Horizon, @JaxonH oh you have similar taste to me, i am a huge action and plataform fan.
Xenoblade chronicles 3 was my most played, and for good reason. Only 8% of strategy games for me, which I'd like to up in 2023. Good start with FE Engage ☺️
@NintendoByNature
Ya, I was surprised Strategy only accounted for 5% of my playtime. Then again, with hundreds of hours in Monster Hunter, another 100+ in Splatoon, 100+ in Xenoblade, and 20-30 in various games all over the place, I suppose the measly 25 hrs of Triangle Strategy didn't amount to much. And Mario Rabbids got put on hold after just 10 hrs due to Persona 5 Royal and Bayonetta 3.
But yes, as you said, 2023 will be off to a good start with Fire Emblem Engage. And time to revisit Mario Rabbids and top off Triangle Strategy.
