@Buizel Soul Hackers 2 wasn't a smooth running experience on the other consoles which is odd as it's not a bells and whistle type game. They probably gave up trying to optimise it for the Switch since they couldn't do it for the other consoles.

@jump Yes I find this to be quite odd in general. The game overall doesn't seem like it would be that much more demanding than Persona 5.

At least 2'8".

I never really played Theatrhythm even though I own it for 3DS.

Wonder how the stylus rail lines will work?

@JaxonH

Curtain Call has a one-button play option if you just want to chillax and enjoy the music.

I assume Final Bar Line will offer the same control option.

I think that's what I like most about Switch. People actually buy the cool games now, instead of just Mario/Zelda/Pokemon and a handful of high-profile third party exclusives.

@Buizel The game is poorly optimized for every platform its on. Watching that DF technical analysis really opened my eyes in this regard. It could still come to Switch (I'm half-expecting it to, actually, since it seems to have flopped, and Sega will want to make money back on it), but someone is going to need to clean up Atlus' mess first when porting it.

Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition

We can probably thank the Internet for that. It's no coincidence, I don't think, that I started getting back into gaming when broadband and smartphones kicked in mid-2000s. I had a new way to connect with the gaming community that I'd been missing during my teens and early twenties, expanding my knowledge and access to games immeasurably. I suspect the same has happened to a lot of people.

The organisation I work for has an internal social media site with a gaming sub-community, and just by looking at posts there I can see how broad and deep general gaming knowledge has become (even if there does still seem a tired bias towards Playstation and GamePass).

It's going to be interesting to see how certain publishers and franchises that have so far skipped Switch respond to the next Nintendo hardware.

@Rambler If you want any YT recommendations for GBG I can help.

I'll take that offer, please. I don't have the time or expertise for GBG, but I do have it and am eager to see the breadth of things people have done with it, but can't be bothered to search myself, so will gladly check out your recommendations. That guitar vid looked cool, from the bits I skimmed through.

Depend on who is the gamer.
The gamer like me will pick more odd games, niche games, underrated games for kids or general than zelda / mario / xenoblade games. I wonder who else have interest with odd games like My Universe, Jojo Siwa, Paw Patrol, Epic Chef, Dodgeball Academia, Youtubers Life 2, Race with Ryan, 1-2-Switch, etc.

Rhythm gonna hit your head.

Very nice. What's the inside of the steelbook look like? I'm on the fence about ordering the launch edition...

@JaxonH Ha! It's comments like that that do nothing to convince me that you are not a gaming industry mole, planted here at NL to whip up hype and sales 😉

Hmm, with the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remaster (remake?) going episodic, I wonder if that'll increase the likelihood of it being ported to the Switch?

Grumblevolcano

@Magician I'd guess it's a major remake (like FFVII) given the episodic nature and ends up having some kind of PS5 exclusivity given people generally associate Silent Hill 2 with the PS2 much like they associate FFVII with the PS1.

@Grumblevolcano I suppose that'll depend on which team is developing the multipart remake. If it's Bluepoint Games, I think they could manage something like that well enough. But if the rumors of it being handled by Bloober Team are accurate? Well, I'm not sure they'd be up to the task.

Idk

For one, Sony's gonna pay to keep it off other platforms, like they always do with everything.

But even if they weren't, it's probably developed for power platforms so Switch wouldn't be able to run it anyways. Besides which, it's not a series I care about and frankly have no idea where all this hype for it is coming from. It supposedly got a few good entries 20 yrs ago, then fell off hard. I'm not sure why certain influencers are so obsessive about it, which has led to a ton of ppl losing their minds when 99% of them probably never even seen a single gameplay snippet.

Like, maybe it'll turn out good. But maybe wait to see it before acting like it's the greatest IP to ever exist.

Gimme my Fatal Frame 4 on Switch to go alongside Fatal Frame 5, Resident Evil 5, Revelations and Revelations 2, all with gyro aiming, and I'm happy.
