@Tay205 Since you installed a new battery, I think that's normal that the console has to learn/re-calibrate to the new battery, and probably explains the wonky percent changes. That's why that nintendo support troubleshooting page I linked to said it may take multiple charge cycles to resolve the battery charge display - the console is learning (that's my understanding).
In the past, I thought I recalled that if a cell phone charge display wasn't accurate, that doing full dischage then full chage of the battery helps the system learn/calibarate to correct charge display issues. I know shorter use & charge sessions are better for prolonging lithium ion batteries, but that's what the solution was. So, I'm not surprised Switch troubleshooting seems to echo that solution, since the Switch is mobile tech.
@Tay205 "not to leave it inside the dock after it's 100% charged"? That person doesn't know the Switch console. That's not an insult, or a put down. They probably fix a lot of things, so I guess that's not surprising.
Leaving the Switch docked is how you play the Switch on the TV. And it will hit 100%. The system is designed to sit on the dock all the time, basically. And you remove it when you want to go portable/handheld. The Switch system is designed to be left in sleep mode while docked, if you want - that's how many people download games, leaving it sleep mode over night. The console or dock manages the charging. (although, on rare occasion, someone in the forum complains their switch is acting up, and it turns out they never shut it down or reboot it. And the problem goes a way after they reboot)
Here's Nintendo's support page for "How to Charge Nintendo Switch". There are no warnings about needing to take the Switch out of the dock, or anything about over charging. Nintendo isn't sloppy with their console instructions. They're quite thorough. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a...
Regarding whether I leave the Switch in the dock, I usually don't. I may be the only one here like that. I don't like leaving consoles out. That's just my preference. I power my Switch down, and put it in a drawer when I'm done playing, and push the dock out of the way. See? I'm a freak. Although, I think 90-95%+ may leave there Switch docked, although, I'll be honest, I don't know for sure. The topic doesn't come up often.
@WoomyNNYes I have 2 switch consoles. 1 is the 2017 model (the one with the new battery i got in) 1 is the animal crossing switch I brought brand new in May 2021.
The animal crossing switch has been in it'd dock connected to it's charger every since I brought it. I did take it out in June and july of 2021 for a week for each month and no battery issues. Last week I took the animal crossing switch out of the dock and played breath of the wild and no issues with battery, the battery life held a good charge.
I don't know if the 3rd party battery they use will harm the battery if I keep it plugged in all the time.
I personally don't know if they are correct by not leaving the console in the dock or not.
It's possible the new battery can cause harm by leaving it plugged in. But I never had the battery be so bad.
The reason for the new battery is because I sent this console to Nintendo due to overheating and they replaced this switch and refused to replace the battery themselfs..
Do you think if I left it inside the dock for days on end hurt the battery?
At that price just buying a new one might make more sense.
About 15 yrs ago, I got a bad virus on my laptop that scrambled my Win32 files. At the time I knew nothing about computers. Found a repair shop. They ended up charging me $400, and it was just a simple reinstall of Windows. Even BestBuy, the most expensive of all, only charges $100 and change for that.
After that I swore I'd never get ripped off again, and spent 4 hrs a day studying and learning about computers. A few years later I started a small business with a guy repairing them. Later I'd work for PC Medic repairing PCs
And I've never paid anyone to fix a PC since.
Lessons learned.

@Ralizah While not necessarily a remake I definitely think that game will be brought to Switch in some form. Recently Atlus has been seriously trying to preserve legacy titles, it's almost as if they knew Sony were going to try to shut down PS3/Vita stores and Nintendo were going to shut down 3DS/Wii U eshops around the time window of 2021-2023.
