@Nicolai I don't know, though... I have the Xbox 360 controller (and I'm planning to buy the One controller as well) and while the controller itself is quite comfortable, the fact that the right thumb stick is at the bottom makes things slightly uncomfortable. The Wii U GamePad/Pro controller, on the other hand? Like I've already said earlier, for me they're so so so comfortable to use because my thumbs naturally point upwards when i curve my fingers to the controller's base (think the Right Hand Rule 2 ). I don't even like the c-Stick on the GameCube controller (one of my best controllers ever). Aaand I have a DualShock 3 clone controller for the computers at home and... not that they're impossible to use (I cleared Portal with it, so.. yeah), but I don't think the thumb sticks are in the ideal position.
Of course, all this is just me... and who knows? Maybe I'll eventually love the Switch (Pro) controller.

God first.

@Moshugan The sides where the Joy-cons attach to the controller seem to be facing down though. The outside faces up from what I can tell. There's no extra shoulder buttons I think.

@MarcelRguez The PS4 version runs just a little better, but not by much either. The biggest problem is that framerates jumps up and down and even the resolution. From a technical perspective, it's an absolute disaster. Now it remains in the ''still playable'' realm, but it's clear that FFXV pretty much needs a PS4 Pro (or even Scoprio) to run smoothly.

@BiasedSonyFan ''They probably never even heard of them.'' I think that's their reason for repackaging them an releasing them again with a new coat of paint. Anyway, the good news is, is that we know Pikmin 4 is in development. Retro Studios is working on something, and there's at least another two team that could potentially be working on games, but they could also be working on the UI and various applications.

So it's dawned on me, that with regards to this site, and you lovely people, many like @Moshugan and @Inkling who seem....hyped because I mentioned the inspiration? (Thanks guys, shows I do see a hole in markets), I can say things like the game is coming, how it's doing, when we can expect to crowdfund, probably not enough to warrant a thread on it, obviously, but it's something until I have it "Show-offable".

With regards to my university course...like hell am I opening my mouth! I mean they are gonna be ripping it apart, they are a Sony partnered institute, and they also think GBA is the same as GBC and GB, and include it as one sales metric. They actively stifle creativity. Nintendo doesn't seem to be a good source of revenue for them, or as a method of designing games, or how you should approach development on certain genres and demographics. It's all "Story this", "Graphics that". They do say if its not fun its not good, but its such a focus on story and presentation first (To the point we learned absolutely NO CODING in the first year) that it feels....half-baked.

So if they ask on my opinion on the Switch, they aint getting nothing. I have, as of today and seeing it, goals, products, and concepts in mind that are already locked behind my existing NDA with Nintendo, and my own personal "Sean - Shut Up" Clause. And while I can and will inf uture divulge that information with you guys and the wider world, it is being kept under lock and key from them.

As for my actual opinion now that I'm done hating my education, I really like it. Crisp and clear marketing, you know what it is, how it works, the demographic is my age and up as shown by all using it, carts are back, which is great news for file size and read times, its fast, easy and simple.

Also very un-Nintendo. No waggling, no sign of a touchscreen yet, and simple, if a little odd when looking at solo Joy-Cons, controllers.

It looks cool, and it's something people have been asking for ages: a portable Nintendo console that can connect to the telly.
I am really surprised Nintendo didn't screw anything up (apparently) and the console looks attractive and easy to grasp for the general public. Even the name - I think it's the best name they have come up with in years. It's short, snappy and memorable.
Sounds good. Now I just hope it is backwards compatible with the previous-gen downloadable games. It would be really atrocious if all our WiiU/3DS eShop purchases couldn't be played on the Switch...

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Not sure if this was shared yet, but Unreal Engine 4 support is confirmed. Devolver Digital is also confirming their support of the system.

Anyways, if there's a Smash 4 port, which there undoubtedly will be, that would be one of the games that I would totally double dip (triple counting the 3DS version) on. Would make Smash 4 the most expensive game I've ever owned though lol.

Jesus Christ, they couldn't help but to keep the 'Wi' name in there, could they.

Nothing else to say.

@Moshugan I take back what I said, when they're playing Mario Kart, they're holding the Joy-cons upside down. It's kinda difficult to tell.

@MarcelRguez It's unfortunate. I hope the delay is able to give them enough time to fix some of the issues, but I'm not expecting a smooth performance at all.

@Octane thanks! Helped give some idea of the potential for backwards compatibility.

Hopefully there will be a good selection of virtual console games.

Did you know that Ubitus Inc. (bottom row, 4th logo) is responsible for Cloud storage?

Yeah, I don't see FFXV coming to Switch. Been in production for too long on a proprietary engine. FFVIIR and KH3 on the other hand are on UE4, and thus are easier to scale down.

KH3 would make infinite more sense on the Switch than the Xbox one, that's for dang sure.

I will also say Skyrim being ported to the console months after it initially releases isn't good. What, so we can hear bethesda whining in a year about how the game didn't sell many copies at $60 at the Switch's launch while the PS4 and XOne versions are at $30 and have been out for half a year? Late ports aren't exactly inspiring.

My pros and cons:
Pros:
-Looks great.
-Flexibility
-Nintendo games
-excellent interface

Cons:
-Guaranteed to be at least $250
-Battery life probably ain't gonna be anything special(probably 2DS level)
-not really portable
-included built in storage will likely be low

So TotalBiscuit doesn't like it. That's the entire PC market switched off because one man said so, then again he doesn't seem to like much bless him.

Jim Sterling has good things to say though.

Initial thoughts. Seems like a solid idea for a console. I wonder how much of a performance hit going mobile will be?
Outside of that though. A tablet with physical controls is right up my alley. The Razer Edge did it several years ago.
I love the idea of splitting the controls in half and handing one to a friend for impromptu multiplayer on the go.
This is a good opportunity for indie couch co-op and party games to grow. I'd bring this thing to conventions.

Sounds pretty positive actually.

@Octane Did I say TB? God dammit, meant RTU. Dude was all on the praise then the /moment/ it broke in a stream he did that Skyrim isn't confirmed by Bethesda he got super pessimistic about it, saying Nintendo lied and its a Wii U repeat.

TB has been overwhelmingly positive by his...standards. Normally he seems negative to it. What is almost guaranteed to be negative is Yahtzee.

@Faruko You know....I'm gonna go on a PC Master Race tangent here.

It started as a joke from what I know, an offhand comment. Like many things. Some use it as an endearing kind of jokey term, but are generally all around excepting.

And there are those who go full on with it and are serious. I think I saw YouTube comments saying that "Console users can like what they like but their objectively wrong". Which...I had a field day with grammar wise actually, since objectivity and opinions are...no.

Here's the thing. They say all these plebeian based comments and seem to at times be rather hostile, yet also say they want people "To see the light"(This is all a bit culty isn't it?), but how do they entice people in? By being complete and utters. Its like moving into a new neighbourhood that the residents say is nice, and welcoming new people by insulting them.

Point is it's nice to see some positivity, just don't expect to last. One of them will start the ball rolling.
