NPD believe/predict Switch is gonna be the best selling hardware of Holiday 2020,even with the launch of Xbox Series X/S e PS5, again another sales/analysts who believe Switch can sell more then PS5 e Xbox Series X/S in this Holiday season, but is better wait to see if this become a reality. https://gonintendo.com/stories/370683-npd-predicts-the-switch...
That isn't much of a prediction. The simple fact is there won't be enough XSX or PS5 consoles on store shelves (or from online retailers) for folks who want one. Meanwhile, Nintendo will coast, selling well over 10m Switches before we ring in the New Year. Roughly twice as many XSXs and PS5s that are expected to sell in the same timeframe.
Even with 3 of them, one in each Switch, I could use another for the spare slot in my main Switch. The old 512gb I re-used for spare games is full, and has been for a while.
Ya know what? Ya. I think I will. Seems it’s gonna be a while before larger sizes release, and that’s an absolute 🔥 sale price (with my luck, 2TB cards will be announced next week, but whatever).
@IceClimbers Ugh, I really need one. My 400 has been full for a while, and the 512 is just not worth the upgrade. But at the same time, if I wait a year it'll probably be a third the price.
@link3710
Hmm... while anything is possible, I doubt we’ll see the 1TB go for 1/3 of this price, even a year from now. I think at best, it may potentially get this low for MSRP, but even on sale, I’m thinking $150 is probably the range we’ll be looking at this time next year. Unless you find a killer Black Friday deal for holiday 2021, maybe we could see $99.99 but, that’s not even half the price.
It’s a good chunk of change, but for what you’re getting, it’s a fantastic price. 1TB SSDs for PS5/X1 are $220-230 each. And yes, they’re SSD, but this is micro SD the size of your pinky nail. $180 is absolute fire for one of these bad boys.
Of course, if you want to wait you will likely be able to get it cheaper eventually. The question is how much cheaper and how long will you have to wait... and personally I don’t foresee it being that much cheaper for some time. Even if a 2TB releases, I doubt this will drop below $100 even by the end of next year. Which... that’s a fair bit of savings, to be sure. But it’s also a 14 month wait, and a roll of the dice it’ll actually drop that low.
Just food for thought. As an alternative you could always buy the plastic Nyko kickstand and just grab another 400gb to store in the kickstand, and swap as needed. Not as elegant or convenient, but definitely cheaper.

@Magician I'm not even sure the next gen consoles would be 2nd and 3rd. The big selling point for both systems is play your old games with better resolution and/or framerate as well as faster load times. While it is a big deal and Digital Foundry does a fantastic job showing it on the Xbox Series X side (Sony's still being awkwardly secretive), I'm not sure the general public that goes to buy a console over the holiday is going to care that much. It'll potentially be like "PS4/XB1 plays CoD, FIFA, Cyberpunk, etc. so there's no need more money on the next gen systems".
To be honest the sales stats I'm most interested about this holiday is Age of Calamity. Warriors games are kind of a niche but Age of Calamity is an official canon prequel to BotW (the most successful Zelda game) and will probably also reveal some insights into BotW 2.
@JaxonH Usually I'd agree but... I'm trying to save up right now, so no unnecessary purchases from me. And a 1TB Micro SD for the switch is definitely unnecessary, if convenient.
@NESlover85 A physical "all on the cart" re-release of Pokemon Sword/Shield which also has the expansion pass on the cart, that and Age of Calamity are it for the holiday so far.

And Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which releases October 30th, just 3 weeks before Hyrule Warriors.
Basically it’s Pikmin and Hyrule Warriors for this Holiday season, then early next year we kick it off strong with Mario 3D World followed by Monster Hunter Rise (which... admittedly, isn’t 1st party, but it is exclusive and strongly identified with Nintendo as they published previous titles like MH3U in the west).
The 1TB microSD card is down to $182.99 on Amazon for prime day. Pretty sure that's the lowest it's ever been.
I still have plenty of space on my 512GB card so I'll hold out until next year but mannnn is it tempting.
That bodes well for black friday. Gonna need a second 1 TB. (Really can't wait for 2 TB) I would have loved to have bought one today but I snagged two of the 1 TB ssd for my ps4 and xbox one. (since I'm not getting the new systems I figure I'd settle in with these)

I've seen some cray cray guesses that Age of Calamity will be a 10m+ seller. I think 10m is way too bold of a guess. Don't get me wrong, the game looks good. But I believe Hyrule Warriors didn't even reach 1m copies sold. Although I love musou games, the genre isn't that popular.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,561 games (as of April 18th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician actually Hyrule Warriors was the first Warriors to sell a million copies and that was on the Wii U, it's probably sold alot more thanks to the Switch and 3DS versions but yeah, 10m is insane.
What are the blockbuster launch titles for Series X/PS5? I haven't really seen anything other than Spider Man, and that's not... a "full" game from what I understand? It's like an add-on and they changed his face to reflect the Marvel Universe?
