I expect a delay to Winter 2017 now that their stocks get a bump from the iOS thing. I always found it weird that they put the NX right at the end of the financial year.
Well I have no idea what to think about all this. If we finally get to know about the dang thing this week I'll be relieved, but it's all just so weird right now.
RUMOR: Nintendo's Developer Portal Updated & Gearing Up For An NX Reveal
NWPlayer123, who has a history of accurate leaks, has mentioned that Nintendo’s developer portal was updated. To be more specific, the update was for the SDK, short for Software Development Kit, related to the NX. That’s not all, because the installer/downloader tool was updated too. Nikki says this is Nintendo gearing up for a “devs/reveal” of the NX. The tweets related to the matter are embedded for you down below, if you want to see for yourself. If these tweets are anything to go by, it’s that it may not be much longer until the NX is revealed.
I highly doubt a gamestop expo of all places is where Nintendo would reveal the NX. With Tokyo Game Show right there. And it being Nintendo, a highly "japan first, world second" mindset company. It would make 0 sense.
That said, Nintendo are experts at making 0 sense.
@DefHalan I think the problem that the Internet is becoming increasingly more negative and violent in its desire to threaten any and everyone is what scares and upsets me. And it's more scary when you realise that some actually take it to the next stage.

@Operative I don't think Nintendo is a Japan first company at all. Many of their business practices would lead you to believe that, but the western market is quite often the first to see their new hardware and first party games. As for the Gamestop expo it would definitely still be a very odd place to make such a major reveal, so yeah that likely won't happen, but there's still a good chance we'll hear something. Either a "very soon" or a date for the NX presentation could happen, but who knows for sure.

We've reached that point now where we'll be hearing of reveal date rumours almost every day. In March everyone was convinced that it would be at E3, but then Nintendo dropped the bombshell of it being a Zelda-only event. That naturally meant that the early period after E3 was also off the cards, otherwise why not just show it then?
So as we have been saying since then, the likeliest time of a reveal would be September. We're now in mid-September and so every Tom, Dick and Harry will be claiming to know some source that says "today's the day" or "23rd September is the day" because the timeframe of current theorising of a reveal is rapidly closing.
To be fair the predictions that they'd talk at E3 were just an assumption based on nothing much at all. They said they wouldn't talk about it until 2016? Well, they're saving it for E3 then aren't they. Big things are always announced at E3. So there was nothing more than that.
Since then we've had only two actual bits of information about the release date. The first was the Eurogamer rumour which said sources were saying around September. Now we have the WSJ saying sometime before early October. These guys have come to similar conclusions about the NX independently before. So I'd argue that as of now that's the only info we have.
But of course everyone wants their 5mins of fame. There are certain sections of the fanbase who are hungry for any information. Being as close as we probably are they're all getting in now. Things are moving so fast that there isn't time for all of the usual filters to stop crap from spreading. But that doesn't mean there isn't some real information out there.
That said, I hope they do it right instead of screwing up the reveal, though I want to know now....
Why would gamer splash be a trusted source?
Personally, the whole interview feels too polished and structured. I have a hard time believing a developer would give such a lengthy interview about something he/she has a NDA on. And the interviewee doesn't sound like a developer, small things are off everywhere.
I think that Gamestop expo rumour is interesting. I doubt we'd be talking about an actual reveal here, but we could certainly get a "finally, we would like you to join us on September 29th when we reveal our brand new console, codename NX, in a special Nintendo direct".
And that would spark the beginning of a two week period giving teasers that aim to get people to tune in to the direct
