So how hard is it to work through the story in Dragon Ball FighterZ for a more casual fighting game fan?

I love DBZ, but while I enjoy playing around in fighting games, I'm definitely not a hardcore player. I've worked through the story in Dead or Alive Dimensions, and can clear arcade mode in Street Fighter II & Super Street Fighter IV 3D on easier difficulties. Also cleared the story/arcade mode in games such as Soulcalibur III/IV, DOA4, SNK VS Capcom, & Tatsunoko VS Capcom, but it's been awhile since I played any of these so I don't know if I was playing them on easier settings or not. I do know all of the SNK fighters I've ever tried have kicked my butt even on the easiest difficulties (Samurai Showdown II, Garou, & KOFXII), so I'm just wondering where DBFZ fits on the scale.

The story mode of FighterZ is super easy.

It's grindy though. But you need to complete it because it will unlock Android 21. Not the best story mode in the genre. Online has been pretty fun as a more casual fighting fan. I'm at 81 matches played and won fifty of those. Not a bad statistic.

I'm generally quite bad at fighting games but I'm finding DBFZ sorry mode pretty easy (to give you an idea - my main goal each fight seems to be a "Perfect" rather than a victory). Still very enjoyable though, and it's become perhaps my favourite traditional fighter of all time.

can you set the Switch to store the updates and/or downloads on the Micro sd card, or does it only start using the card automatically when internal storage is maxed out ???

People would love Xenoblade Warriors. I know I would. And Warriors games are abundant, but they are in relatively short supply on Switch compared to other platforms. I'll gladly take 1 solid crossover per year on Switch, and one non crossover every year.

If no SD is inserted, it saves to internal memory. If an SD is inserted, it stores to SD. So you basically installed to the SD card no matter what and if you want something saved to the internal memory you need to first pop the SD card out of the slot, download, then pop back in.

I would love to see more crossover Warriors games on the Switch, but will admit that I have no interest in the main series' offerings. Xeno and Ys are solid candidates but I also would love Mario Bros, Pokemon, Sonic or Final Fantasy.

The main series gets old fast since it just keeps telling the same Romance of the Three Kingdoms story over and over again. And the main gameplay gets real old real fast. Hyrule Warriors though I actually enjoy, weirdly enough. Not all the time, but it is fun.

Finally got myself a Switch. I have Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, and Mario Kart 8. I'm strangely enjoying Mario Kart 8 the most. Mario Odyssey doesn't feel like Mario and I can't bring myself to play it after only a few hours. I just really don't like it in every way. Breath of the Wild is okay, but doesn't really feel too much like Zelda either....and both are too open-ended. But I'm not giving up on that one yet.

I'm not going to get anymore Switch games for a while. I don't want this to turn into another Wii U for me.

That... makes no sense to me. Wouldn't not getting more games mean that the console will be sitting around gathering dust when you eventually tire of your current 3 games?

No, I'm being smart and waiting for more games to come out that really interest me, while simultaneously waiting for current games to drop in price. I just dropped almost $200 on 2 games I'm not enjoying much and a pro controller. I'm not going to be taking any more risks for a good while.

Uh, you might be waiting for quite some time. Especially if it's a Nintendo first party game. Those don't tend to drop much in price for years, if ever.

You're absolutely right dude !
Look, my switch was on, only 10 days from the 1st of january until now end of october... o_O
10 days for 10 months to really enjoy Octopath Traveler.

Trust me, you're smart because by doing what you do, you're not gonna experience the drought that I have to undergo. :/

PS : and I said several time here that Mario Odyssey is the most overated 3D Mario ever but guess what, it's impossible to have an advice different than the global one... Mario Odyssey is a 10/10, a 100/100, a perfect score etc... I'm sorry but it's by far, the worst of all 3D Mario... Super Mario 3D World is 10 times better, Galaxy 1 and 2 are miles away from Odyssey, Mario 64 was a revolution and even Sunshine was built with a better level/game design...

If Odyssey is so appreciate today that's just because it's a casual game and even a non player can feel good at it... Moons everywhere syndroms... :/

Personally, I never go in expecting a game to be "Best Game EVER!!!11ELEVEN!!" If it's a fun game, that's more then enough for me. Shadow of the Colossus is widely considered an amazing game and proof that video games can be art. I found it alternately boring and frustrating, sometimes both at the same time. In fact I never got past the first colossus. I quit the game because I wasn't having fun. I'll slog through a boring to play rpg if the story is good. And if the game play of an action game is good, who cares if the story is forgettable?

Main line Mario games have a long history of having forgettable stories or no stories. But the gameplay is usually solid and fun. That's all I'm really looking for in a main line Mario title.

I'm completely against the idea of forcing yourself to play through a game if the first few hours don't appeal to you, but quitting after the first 15 minutes doesn't sound like giving the game a fair chance. Where did you get stuck?

@Octane

I think he wasn't stuck, he just never clicked with the game.
My wife tried it on her PS4 Pro and guess what, she felt exactly the same as FaeKnight... Boring as hell !

I'd much rather have Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition bug fixes and DLC than Xenoblade Warriors to be honest. The getting stuck on platforms in keeps glitch hasn't happened often but it would be nice for it not to happen at all, fixing handheld performance would also be nice. Then in terms of DLC, add in the champions, add in more fan favourite characters like Groose and while there's already a lot of Adventure maps more would be cool.

If anything, the Switch already surpassed the Wii U in many ways.

If you want the majority of AAA releases, eh. But maybe if cart prices go down those will come as well.

Try "quitting after the first hour" and you'll be closer to the truth. I managed to eventually make it half way up the first colossus, but found the climbing controls frustrating, and the rest of the game boring. So I stopped playing, removed the game from my PS2, and mailed it back to Gamefly. The game looks very pretty, but I found it to be equally boring and frustrating. I can see why people might love it, but it's not for me.

Give ODYSSEY more time, at first if reminded me of Mario Galaxy which I hated, but as I played, I became a little more fond of it, started reminding me almost of Mario 64, which I did like, it also took me some getting used to, but again, I ended up liking it very much, so don't give up on it Odyssey just yet, hell, when I got the pin striped noir ganster outfit, I had so much fun just with that, lol.

yah, just get out of the mindset of "serious gamer, whoop ass" and get into the "f**k off, cause as much mayhem and screw around" mindset and you'll end up liking it I thinks

Sounds like my experience with Kingdom Hearts. Could never get more than five or six hours into the first game, no matter how many times I tried. I just don't like that game.

I enjoy Shadow of the Colossus, but I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe because of the atmosphere and focus on exploration? One of the things I immediately liked about BotW was its SotC-esque atmosphere. Except, you know, it was actually interactive and had stuff to do in the world.

And Mario Odyssey... gets better the more you play it. I really only started to love it when I'd actually finished the main story. The post-game content is pretty good.
